Yes! The traditional hungarian Gulasch is super delicious! 😄 But the austrian recipe differs a little bit to the hungarian one🤔 We use just beef instead of beef and pork. Also we don't add potatoes and bell peppers (in the traditional viennese recipe) unless we are making "potato Gulasch" or "bell pepper Gulasch and we use tomato paste with paprika powder instead of paprika paste🤔

This pretty much is the best answer :) Only thing I would like to add is, that the original Hungarian Gulasch has been adapted and changed (as so many recipes have) plenty of times and that Austrian or German Gulasch Soup usually differ (in my experience Hungarian Gulasch is more paprika-y). Also in Hungary itself there are few different versions depending on region. Most famously probably the (and I am sorry for mis-spelling that in advance) Szegettiner Gulasch, which adds sour cabbage for example.

The Hungarian word Gulyas means Cowboy, Gulya is the Cattle herd. Only the soup is called Gulyas or Gulasch in Hungary. The beef stew, that all other Western countries call Gulash is called Pörkölt there. What you had in this instant noodle cup has not much to do with that, maybe the flavor was kind of similiar, and it is defenitly no tomato sauce. The original calls for potatoes and halaszle, not noodles.

Gulasch (different spelling in each European country. EX, Hungarians spell it "Guljasc") It's a meat stew -- can have beef, lamb, pork, or any mixture of the above, cooked with paprika, salt, pepper. Add some carrots, potatoes, and Hungarian peppers (very hot long green peppers). 1 Pound of meat, chopped into 1" cubes Several bay leafs 3 or 4 carrots, chopped about a cup of mushrooms, diced. 2 Onions Tomato sauce, or paste (paste for best results) 1/2 stick of butter 2 Potatoes (large russets) several stalks of Celery 2 Hungarian peppers chopped, seeds removed (optional. You can use any kind of pepper, depending on how hot you want it) 4 or 5 cloves of garlic, diced. (Real Hungarians like them just crushed and thrown in, so you get a surprise in your spoon) Lots of Paprika to taste (SMOKED HUNGARIAN PAPRIKA, if you can find it! It's different from sweet Spanish Paprika) I make this all the time without any actual recipe. Everyone's mom makes is different. So just wing it. The important thing is garlic, onion, smoked paprika, and MEAT. Use a 6-8 quart stew pot. Put the butter in the pot on medium heat. Coat the meat in flour, then throw it in the pot. cook till the flour is browned on all sides. Take the meat out of the pot. Put in the onions and garlic. Cook in the butter till translucent. Add the peppers & Bay leafs Cook for 5 more minutes. Throw the meat back in. Put in 1 tablespoon of paprika (Preferred = smoked Hungarian Paprika) put in tomato sauce or paste (to your own taste. Use your judgement on how much you want) Cook this for 10-15 minutes. Add several cups of water till the meat is totally submerged. Stir until you get a rolling boil. Bring the heat down below boiling Add your vegetables (Potatoes, carrots, celery, mushrooms) Simmer for an hour or two, until the vegetables are soft enough to eat. All the while you are doing this, it's no sin to add a few more tablespoons of smoked paprika.The redder the sauce, and the more savory, the better. Total cook time should be a couple of hours, with the judgement of "done" usually being how soft the carrots and potatoes are. Tips: For hotter spice flavor, add more hungarian peppers. Keep tasting the stew while you cook it. This is really the only way you can tell if you will like the end result. You will need to keep adjusting to your taste. Serving suggestions: Russians and Poles eat Gulasch with a large dollop of sour cream. It's awesome and takes the edge off of the hot peppers. Some people are known to put it on top of rice, couscous, or egg noodles. A perfect accompaniment is a personal loaf of Sour-dough bread, Rye bread, or Russian Black bread. Sometimes, Gulasch is served in a hollowed-out sour-dough loaf! Another side dish to serve would be dill pickles, Polish dill (slightly sweet dill) or Sauerkraut. Have fun Satoshi! look up other recipes to compare. I may have forgotten something, but I make this all the time.
@MinstrelKrampf4 жыл бұрын
I forgot to add -- use salt and pepper to taste. 1 Tablespoon of each usually. Also -- You will want to add more water as you add the vegetables, to make sure they are covered.

yaaaaaaaaay I'm so glad you like the goods :D yeah milchreis is a bit watery its really kind of a sweet okayu ^^ Honiglebkuchen is my absolute favourite winter snack :D Radler are generally beer and carbonated drink mixes :) Genuss=Enjoyment :) Gulasch per definition is a stew with hungarian origin. Onions and meat are panfried and then stewed, seasoned with paprika (originally as a cheap peppercorn substitute in the early 19th), garlic and caraway :3 caraway probably it the herb you couldn't identify since its very uncommon in japan :) ( i struggle to find it in japanese supermarkets whenever i make gulash for my grandparents in yamaguchi xD ) Since Hungary was a part of Austria during the Emperors time, the dish quickly spread throuout up to Germany :) Now there are many variations of the dish itself so whenever we speak of gulash its usually a stew/sauce/soup with paprika, onion and meat. depending on the variations we add potatoes, sausages, different kinds of meat. the "Broth" is sometimes more reduced to a sauce thaan a soup depending on the variation :) Yees your pronounviation of Erdbeere was awesome :D funfact: old ...oooold austrian name for strawberry was not erdbeere but Ananas which frankly and funilly is the same name for Pinapple ^.^ but due to germany erdbeere got more prominent, so only old people sometimes call Erdbeere a Ananas wahhhhhh ureshii

Usually Gulasch is like Beef (but there are versions with pork and stuff, of course) that's like.. slow cooked in a sauce of tomato and paprika and like...tons of other stuff but these are the most prominent things I'd say. It's cooked for hours and everyone also is gonna tell you if you cooked it today, it's gonna taste even better tomorrow. Oh and there are SO many variations, like sausages, potatoes, you could literally just get some Beef, tomato and paprika and then kinda throw leftovers in there and it's most likely totally fine :D

Is that American Goulash? The Austrian/Viennese traditional way is to go same parts beef (not too lean, you need internal fat for flavor and texture) and onions. First brown the beef in vegetable oil and then set it aside, then create the onion base which includes roasting the onions, spices/seasonings including the essential paprika, a tablespoon of tomato puree, vinegar and water, all of which which you end up pureeing, then add the prepared beef and more water and salt are added (and a bay leaf) and you simmer this for hours until the beef (nearly) falls apart (and it gets better with reheating). I found this English language recipe, which sounds right www.lilvienna.com/authentic-austrian-beef-goulash/ personally I love having it with salty bread sticks (Salzstangerl) rather than the pasta. And beer. :)

Last time that I had "happyness mushrooms" was in Amsterdam - and they were not part of a pasta sauce 😉

Mmmmmmm I love Lebkuchen. And goulash (the Hungarian/European kind) because I love paprika. I wish I could try those noodles!

The goulash I know is a stew of beef and paprika originally from Hungaria. One of the best goulash we had at Totoratei actually.

They normally call a American dish made with spaghettis sauce/tomato sauce and macaroni Goulash (sometimes they call it Chop Suey). People get confused when someone who actually knows what Gulyás/Goulash is talks about the soup/stew. People have argued with me about my Hungarian families Gulyás recipe not being Goulash because it doesn't have spaghetti sauce and pasta. I have to sit there and explain the difference to them.

@@RayneZaleska who eactly is "they" in that case? Like I know for sure that in Austria Gulasch is referring to the hungarian original. After all, Austria and Hungary have a looong shared history so some things were bound to mix over the whole kingdom I guess xD

@@LucRio448 I guess you missed the word American.

You got it right, tomato, paprika, garlic and some form of meat, normally beef, chicken or pork.

I guess in real cabonara you have very few but very high quality ingredients which you would never be able to use in some instant pasta dish.
