It is the same antique store in Hollywood that she used for My Funny Valentine AJ plays guitar, keyboard/piano, violin and flute. Don’t forget she writes music and was the youngest author in Norway to publish a book. No loud band, no light show, no dancers, just two instruments to accompany the MAGIC that Angelina Jordan brings like no one else can. At 7 she was killing us, at 16 she is taking us places we have never been. What a glorious production, praise to everyone involved, so perfect for Angelina Jordan she rules the universe with her talent. Again, the great talent of Rob Christie playing the piano. The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE, Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Great touch, the cousins and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud, AJ's grandma produced this. (This red guitar is identical to the one Elvis played in his 1968 concert on TV.) Oh, the tears, and loss of breath, she is like no other in the universe. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase. She has written a number of songs.

@@larrypifer1103 I guess it depends on how one interprets your statement, Larry: "AJ plays guitar, ..piano, violin and flute". I didn't see the "ability to play" in that statement, so the average reader would assume that she actually "plays" those instruments now, when in fact she hasn't played the flute or violin in about 10 years. And I would guess that since she hasn't played them, her "ability" to do so would be very limited.

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust. AJ adapts the performance to pay homage but then makes it her own and so much better than the original.

Guys, this was just a stellar analysis as it is every time! You asked about the symbolism of the video. This is the general consensus. The antique store and Angelina taking the sheets off of the mirror and the furniture and the piano represent uncovering Elvis's vintage past. During the Elvis special which I believe was in 1969, he wore the black leather suit and boots, and had the red guitar as Angelina does. Angelina's beehive hairdo was the same type of hairdo that Elvis wife Priscilla had. The three young girls are Angelina's sister and two cousins and represent Angelina at different ages growing up. Angelina also used the vintage microphone. The pianist was Rob Christie, head of Republic records where Angelina is signed, and Mery Zamani is Angelina's grandmother who directed. You may have noticed that Angelina wore boots at the very beginning but once she started performing she was barefoot. There is also a scene with the camera pans down as it looks at the mirror with Angelina's reflection. As it pans to the bottom you see her bare feet in the bottom part of the mirror. I'm not sure if I've missed anything but I hope that helps.

I love how Angelina comes in strong and uses the bridge as both and intro and outro. The arrangement, the slower tempo, the crystal clear piano play and her melancholic singing make me really listen to the story of love being destroyed by distrust and she makes me feel the sadness of is. Because it is a really a sad song about a toxic relationship with no way out. Elvis performance was masterful and he knew how to entertain the audience and to have fun on stage. It was and is fun to watch. What I do not really feel is in his performance is that he is distraught about being caught in a inescapable trap. I saw the Elvis movie. Is is beautiful and sad at the same time: he was really caught in an inescapable trap himself.

Elvis Presley owned Graceland (research that), and Angelina Jordan entered Graceland, uncovering the furniture, looking up at the elegant chandeliers, and singing Suspicious Minds in a reminiscent, melancholy way, as though she were still grieving the huge loss of Elvis, as we all still are. Again, she understands her audience, and can take our heartstrings and just twist them to a point of emotional entanglement around the words she sings. She is dressed for the era, and mostly carries that guitar to bring more authenticity to the song.

Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. Epic. Incredible. There are no words. Epic! Wow, Wow, Wow! Could it be more Beautiful? ♥👣👸🏻🎷 Yeah she did Concerts in Norway last month! Album to drop soon! So much to look forward to.♥👣👸🏻🎷 I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on U-Tube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani. She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. .♥👣👸🏻

Great reaction guys. Angelina interpreted and told the story, in my opinion, the way it should be told. Her interpretation was much more suitable to the lyrics of the song. At this time, Angelina has definitely found her voice and is breaking out as an artist for the world. The concerts she just did in Norway were fantastic. There are a ton of fan-made videos out there from the concerts. Nostalgia. The 'second hand antiques' environment is nostalgic. Her hair duplicates the 70's era. Priscilla Presley wore her hair high and long much like Angelina's in the video. This rendition depicting such reminiscing, the guitar, the microphone, the old piano, wealth of chandeliers, her sways, her clothes, the children (memories)... absolutely brilliant! I was 8yo when Elvis came to Stockton, California. He performed at the Stockton Auditorium. I am now 72yo... he was a BIG deal! Movie star, Military, Performer... Records sold worldwide by the millions. His earlier years were very robust. Personally fueled by drugs to keep him up, and to keep him down (to rest). He was completely controlled by "The Colonel". Driven to suicide by ambitious money hungry greedy people, and could no longer perform as agile, he just wanted to STOP! So, he overdosed and died, age 42. He is now resting in Graceland TN, his home.

My comments is simple, AJ a little girl prodigy doing her own rendition cover a legendary song, from one's of most musical icon in 20th century. I believe, Elvis has put up a smile at the heaven and finally found someone's able to pass down his legacy to a new era of music.

Angelina never ceases to amaze me, at just how incredibly talented she is, and that she can take her voice to newer levels, we have never heard before.....there is something so special about her ability, to tell the songs story, allowing us to listen with a new perspective, and hear & feel emotions, we may not have heard from the original artist 💖💖💖 Not only her voice, but her delivery is also her gift!

As usual your review was interesting in its nuances, but I think you missed a pretty important comparison. Elvis seemed to approach the relationship he was singing about as being effectively doomed, This was the same impression I got from the song when I first heard it way back in the day, and it was reconfirmed the video you showed, is that he seems to be certain that "Suspicious Minds" would doom the relationship. Angelina's arrangement and her fantastic ability to use the her awesome vocal control put enough unspoken meaning and emphasis to indicate that the singer was thinking that with care and understanding the relationship could and should continue. This, to me, was an amazing reversal of Elvis' message in the song. She was acknowledging that "Suspicious Minds" were present and not good, but that with the history of love between the singer and the unseen partner carried enough weight of shared loving experiences that if the two them took care... the relationship was well worth saving and could succeed. AJ's arrangement and her wonderful voice emphasized "a cautious optimism". I found that the differences between Elvis's singing and AJ's was very interesting. His faster tempo and limited range in his arrangement almost seemed to say, "Let's get it over with." AJ's slower tempo and deeper tone presented a more soulful voice that to my ear seemed to be pleading to her unseen partner not to throw everything away, because of unfounded suspicions.

Yes I watched the Elvis movie and highly recommend it. Austin Butler deserves an oscar for his performance. I grew up listening to Elvis as my late father was a fan. We always listened to Blue Christmas over the holidays. What I especially loved about the movie was how the director brought in contemporary music and overlayed with the old... impressive! I don't know how I stumbled on your channel but so glad I did! I appreciated how you handled this... first learning about Elvis and then watching the video for Suspicious Minds to better understand before exploring Angelina Jordan's cover. I loved the piano at the beginning... it hinted at what was to come... I agree with what you shared and appreciate the respect she gives to the original and yet making it her own - a true artist! Thanks for this and I will definitely be exploring your channel and recommending it! Take care!!

"Depth" is the magic word. Everything about this video was spectacular, the set, Rob Christie on the keys and, of course, Angelina. She told us the story of the song like no other and that's what she does. The second time is better? The 3rd, 4th, and on and on it gets better and better each time. I don't know about you but I don't believe there is anyone like her or that there has never been anyone like her, ever. The depth and range of her voice combined with her soulful and a hint of jazz delivery makes her very unique but that's only half of it. When you heart gets touched by her because her soulfulness is so genuine and it transforms into a strong and yet sensitive voice, full of love, your heart cannot resist. When she sings and the song is over our comment is always, "Oh, it's over already?" With most great artists they have the ability to draw you in and entertain you to a degree where you really appreciate their efforts. Then the song is over. With Angelina, once the song is over it stays with the listener to a degree whereby they will never forget the song and will play it over and over and their reaction each time will be like it was the fist time they heard her sing the song.

Great video, guys! Here are some inputs on Angelina’s music video: We see her growing up in the «antique shop» of great music from the past, refurbishing the classics and in time confidently making them new and relevant again. Nods to Elvis: the «gracelandesque» interior, the black leather suit/red Hagström guitar and magenta-dressed musician (Republic LA studio manager Rob Christie!) which are all from the 1968 «Comeback Special», the Priscilla Presley beehive hairdo, and a very slight raising of the upper lip!

The black leather outfit and guitar are from the Elvis 1968 Comeback Special. The red Hagstrom guitar was just like the one Elvis used on that special. The piano player was Rob Christie from her record company Republic Records. He let her borrow the guitar from his collection. The beehive hair was inspired by Elvis’s wife Priscilla, who famously featured it. This was an amazing piece of art! You guys are young and I think you will really appreciate AJ’s newest release “I have Nothing” by Whitney Houston. She did a home studio version of this song at age 13 that was amazing, at 16 it is a Mic Drop. You will find it It on her official channel.

Hello friends, I was born in 80 three years after Elvis died. I personally came to Angelina through Elvis because I was hear him a lot because I like more the music of the 60's and one day I heard the song "It's now or never" and right after Elvis jumped on KZbin the performance of Angelina who was 11 years old at the same time The time since every day I have to hear her voice, apparently I'm addicted to her like a person can't stop smoking cigarettes to distinguish a thousand thousands of differences of course. As for the music video and the genius of everything here, I'll let the people tell you. What is important to tell you is that you have between 10-20 songs performed by Angelina just to begin to understand what her abilities are and it is very good that you start seeing and hearing more of her because once her first record album is out there is no turning back, she will, with God's help, explode globally with her singing. My recommendation is to start from yesterday, not from today!!!🦶🦶 👑🗣🎙🎷

Welcome back guys. Being that I only watch Angelina reactions, it's been a while since I've seen you. I grew up hearing Elvis (being born in 1954) and my mother played his songs all the time. I've heard this song MANY times, but never really heard the words until Angelina released this video. As she does with all the songs she sings, at least to me, she draws you in and takes you on a journey with her, letting you experience the story, the music and the emotions of the song. That's why I say that I've heard the song many times, but never 'heard' the words until she did her version. Another song you need to check out, is one she opened her concert at Kongsberg with, which was a surprise to everyone. Her version of "Mount Everest" by Labrinth. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoq5qaGPZZt1jdk I think she was telling her fans exactly where she was now that she could be out singing again. I look forward to your next Angelina reaction, whatever it may be.
