@@adrianos2526 Gaming at 4k is generally not a good choice at the competitive level, it absolutely tanks your frame rate. Personally, I prefer to play esports titles at 1080p 240Hz. The only thing I'd play at 4k would something like a single player RPG and I wouldn't do that on a dinky 16" laptop display.

@@hwi7114 I think op means to change the refresh rate to be higher in a lower resolution, and the answer is generally, cost. as why bother having the switch if the monitor is just going to be able todo 240 hertz anyways, yes its a laptop, the point is, the display is a 240 hertz display, why its limited to 120 is beyond me.

@@lockinhinddanger934 it's probably limited by the bandwidth of the display interface; eDP 1.4a maxed out at 4K@120hz. it's also unlikely that a laptop GPU will be able to take full advantage of a 4K@240hz display.

These have panel overdrive and panel power saver. My Duo 15 SE with FHD300 only gives 300fps on the main screen if the Screenpad is set to 48Hz. Some limitation. The 4K/1080p thing is WAAAYYY more advanced than changing resolution. There is no proven controller than can drive a 4K screen at 240FPS and it would be a challenge to push that much data bandwidth reliably....plus it would be a waste because the mightiest desktops only push 4K in 50-140fps depending on the game and settings. The 4K/1080p hybrid screen changes how the pixels are controlled at the *hardware* level. It actually creates 2x2 blocks that all turn on and off together. This keeps the image sharp, sharper than a normal 1080p because there are 12 color dots per pixel instead of three. And this gets around the controller limit because you can literally buy a 1080p240 monitor from Wal Mart. 1080p screen controllers go up to 300Hz and even 360Hz, so 240 is no problem. If you scale up 1080p or especially 1440p onto a 4K screen, you'll see some fuzziness from the upscaling. This eliminates that. It's almost more like the way that scan lines worked in old tube screens, some of which still look good even today.

That is why highs and mids muffled. You can set costum EQ curve with preinstalled "Dolby Access" for just only the speakers.

I am awaiting for a laptop with high TGP 3060 or 3070TI laptop for Data Science and AI Simulation and algorithms for big data visualization. I was thinking of going for Ryzen 6900HX or i7 12th Gen. I am also working on Network technologies and learning Firewall and cybersecurity over Cloud. What would be the best option for a working professional who also needs atleast 3-4 hours of battery life? Budget: 2 lac INR ( or 2400 USD) Should I wait longer for another laptop or go for anything that's around for 2000-2400 USD? Looking for usually 17.3 inch or so for better screen as I am working on large data and visualizations. Small screen makes tough to work on large models What is the minimum configuration to do my tasks at ease? My teacher advised for 32 GB for the Network related works but for the AI and Data Science, 16 GB is seemingly enough. Should I buy somewhat cheaper laptop and build PC for heavy tasks?
@Naraayanay
@Naraayanay 2 жыл бұрын
I need to go out and move only once or twice a month for work related task. May be 6-8 times a year. So I think 17.3 inches is not a daunting task to carry, yeah it make things heavier but my work flow also easier when I am not able to get hold of large monitor when not in office or home. Since I am working on two 27 inches monitors sidewise and need large screen. It makes things really small for 15.6 inch. I am also looking to build new PC ( Tower or cabinet). I already have monitors. So, I am thinking what could be best spot to buy- whether to get too high end laptop for all task or upgrade my current PC to new one and then look for somewhat budget friendly laptop Though I have budget saved since 8 months just to buy 2500 $ laptop. Yeas- I agree and whatever machine I get I will be going for 3 years warranty atleast. All I am looking for well optimised and great performing machine within my budget. I am still confused whether to choose AMD 6900 HX or i7 12700 HX i9 12900 is outside my budget and also overheats and drains battery too fast. i9 are too pricey! SHould I wait for a month to get things cool down on price or for better options?

What I think can be done is to run games that have an inventory bar to the bottom of the screen (lets say Minecraft), at a higher vertical resolution than the main panel. Hopefully this would allow the bottom section of the game screen to extend into the lower screen and you can use the touch to switch items. I can see this messing up other menus tho, but just an idea.

I am running the 3070ti version and have had the machine since March, the second screen has an angle that is still slightly too shallow and dim for my taste, it would have been great to have it tilt a little bit more forwad (I know I am nitpicking, it is much more convenient than carrying screen about). My setup actually includes an additional screen with a dock, with this machine I have the real estate to have more stuff open and being used at the same time. It is very helpful. Only worth it in my opinion if you work in at least two main locations (i.e. 2 bases) and have the financial headroom for the secondary screen. Superb build quality, my heart ached when Jarrod was poking the laptop omg... power brick is a pain to lug around, but a 100w high speed phoen charger can keep you going in a pinch. An added ego bonus is that generally people take a few moments to pick their jaws up off the floor when you first open it up

Hi guys I also have the same laptop (1 month now) I have my laptop set up in the same fashion that you have yours with an external monitor. I thought that all of the 3080 TI versions came with the 4k monitor. Of course I was wrong so I ended up with a 2560x1600 monitor. I'm not complaining because there are more pros than cons with this laptop for what I do day today. My question is how are your monitor resolutions set up? I have an external LG 4K TV that's 4096 x 2160 set to a recommended 3840 x 2160 display resolution. The zephyrus main screen is 2560 x 1600 Scale 150% recommended, and the secondary screen except for 3840 x 1100 Scale175%. How are you scaling yours for best results?

When testing Asus laptops in the future, can you measure idle temperatures in the performance and balanced modes? I’ve found these settings do not permit the CPU to lower its frequency correctly, resulting in much higher idle temperatures. The result is a constant need to shift back and forth depending on what tasks I’m doing.

I would like to tell you about my experience of owning this laptop (RX650 model with 3080ti) I was upset by the fact that for such money, Asus did not bother to put a cover sleeve for protection in a backpack while carrying it somewhere else. The speakers are poorly tuned (I had to dig into Dolby Access and adjust it on my own + update Realtek drivers) and performance constantly jumps for the better, then for the worse from the bios version. And plastic lid takes away from premium feeling Mini led panel often has a small white noise from the screen controller (but I'd think most of us will live with that). Also, you need to manually change screen mode to “one zone” in armory crate! But the big advantages of this laptop are a full-fledged desktop replacement, two screens (I work with 3D and it's very cool to have two screens), good performance \ temperature, slimmer than most other powerful laptops, awesome HDR screen. And nice overall experience! And Asus didn't put a ROG stickers or magnet in a box (my 2021 G14 had those =_= ) If you can use it to the full - buy it. I'm happy with mine!

Hey fellow Aussie Jarrod... After doing quite a bit of research recently, I have found out that any laptop manufacturer can include G-Sync on any screen that has basic adaptive sync, as they are all using the same tech underneath in laptops, it's just different front ends controlling that tech - there's no actual g sync module or anything like that. It's just Vesa VRR controlled by AMD or Nvidia's software to go further than the basic Windows implementation which only works with modern DX titles. I am finding Asus quite lazy and in fact many other laptop devs too for not including G-Sync in top end gaming laptops.. Look at Lenovo who prove it.. both Freesync and G-Sync on the very same screen. The fact that you can only use Freesync in optimus mode and there's no g-sync in dGPU mode is sheer laziness IMHO. Freesync is an open standard and is g-sync compatible. BTW, Lenovo quietly added an update to 2021 Legion 7i's to have advanced optimus.. Mine works precisely like the Razer 15/QHD with it now. Very cool! No more reboots!

@@JarrodsTech agreed, although there are multiple ways to fix this. Starting from altering the layout which is really easy with modular components and to adjusting your habits, since lets face it: the way we use keyboard today favors specific hand for specific task, and that cannot be easily altered. I have left-handed sister, and she uses normal right-handed mouse with her right hand, no problem. And that is because, if she'd opted to use the mouse with her left hand, this would effectively disabled a lot of hotkeys for her (you can't Alt-Tab with your right hand, right?) Millions of people drive cars where the controls are either right or left-oriented, depending on the country (like UK or Australia), and I never heard of any issue with that. And just imagine the consequences of reversing the motorbike controls for lefties.

For me, the bigger problem is the price... At this point I am getting used to 3.5k plus pricing for a normal 3070ti configuration (lets not talk about the 3080ti) This is just the US pricing, in India this machine costs 5k for the 3080ti config and I suspect a similiar case for a lot of other countries too

If you really needs this machine the price isn't that crazy, the Legion with the CPU GPU is 2500.
@AdityaGupta-om8ez
@AdityaGupta-om8ez 2 жыл бұрын
@@jonnypena7651 We cannot comment on whether this price is crazy or not since no other company makes a machine like this so we have no idea how much it could actually cost. Legion with the similiar specs cost around 2k so a 1.5k extra cost just for the extra screen addition feels a bit excessive. I am sure they can definitely sell this for cheaper but they won't because of the absence of competition, kinda like the foldables story with samsung

@@lars2894 The question is how much extra cost is reasonable for those features. I bet 1-1.5k extra money over a similiarly specced $2000 legion 5 is a bit too much. Had it been like $500-600 then it would have been fine

I have the 14" OLED and it's perfect for what I'm using it for, programming! I think my 12900H probably throttles in it though. It has only a 3050TI 4GB. While playing CS-GO, it went from 100FPS to about 30FPS after a few minutes (throttling?). I set the laptop to best performance (instead of balanced) and it seemed to hold the FPS better, but I'm guessing I'm getting throttled in games also in the lower end duo.

I don't think these laptops are for gamers, they are called "gaming laptops", but they catch the eyes of pro life more. Good computer reliant professions require gaming laptops. Engineers, architects or designers are looking to gaming laptops rather than workstation laptops. I've heard that this laptops 2nd screen is usable with some apps for creativity such as adobe apps but it requires more adaptation to other apps (like cad softwares or more usability) Note: You might think that "In pro life why would I use a laptop, I would use desktop", its not wrong but in some situations such as college students or people who are working in jobs which requires them to change their homes/places it is what people seek, a laptop

I personally have always thought having a touchpad under the keyboard is really weird, especially for gaming laptop. Even worse when the touchpad is not centered but rather shifted to the left where your hand rests. Since most of people use it with their right hand, this looks really silly even for work applications. In games, touchpad is absolutely not needed and it even gets in the way. So moving it to the right side or even above the keyboard is absolutely fine by me.
@JarrodsTech

@atomotron
@atomotron Жыл бұрын
@@JarrodsTech good reading, thanks! But that brings me to another topic: rather than asking "Why Are Laptop Touchpads On The Left?" I would ask this: "Why the hell are keyboards positioned in such a way that the center of the keyboard (which is point between the G and H keys) is not centered to the screen???" ;) Also, if you consider a typical PC keyboard with the numpad on the right, and the user in typing position (aligned to F-J keys) it seems really bizarre to place the mouse on the right in this layout. There is simply more space on the left! So why? Yep. Everything is simply "we are used to it", and not how it should logically be.

Is it possible that the 25 watt limitation on the processor was due to the power needed for the GPU? If so, might the 3070Ti's lower power cap enable a CPU power increase you couldn't get with the 3080 laptop? In other words, there is only so much total power available and the 3080 used it all, but the 3070 would allow for up to ~25 more watts to the CPU. It would be nice to get 40-50. After that the Ryzen's return falls off anyway.
