ngl, I feel kinda called out; grew up with conflicting signals about my worth as a person, so accepting compliments and initiating self-love is borderline impossible for me. Never truly feels like I deserve praise.

I'm not gonna lie, that irritated me. They're pretty much telling you to have no self worth. Don't give to other people, they don't need it. Don't love yourself, because there's always someone better than you. Be ashamed of your image, because you're lazy. There's no point in being a good person, because your boss only sees you for your work, and doesn't appreciate you as a person. Don't set up goals, don't have dreams. (reasons unclear) And lastly, once you get a certain age, it's time to give up your confidence completely because you're wrinkly and not worthy of love. It's totally toxic advice. It's kinda telling you to have a negative outlook on life. Lets hope that someone with depression or anxiety doesn't come across it. You are a great person, no matter your age, or your body type. Don't compare yourself to others, love yourself and love your life! EDIT: I just watched this video again cuz, I actually don't know why. I just wanted to. And WOW. Why. Bright Side. Why. You are making life seem so negative. Any kids that may have read that probably DREAD adulthood now. I don't know if that was your intention but GEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZ

A counter to "there is someone out there who is better than you" is a Hemingway quote I keep in mind when I start feeling insecure about my art, or come down with a bad case of the "betterthans." @@annikan42 I am so glad. This quote literally changed my life. I used to be so self conscious about my art and I never thought my writing was good enough to ever go anywhere with it. Then I heard the quote, and gained the confidence to just write. At the time, it was NaNoWriMo, a writing event where the community gets together in November to write an entire novel over the month of November, every year. By the end of November, I had hit the event's word goal, and had three days left over, so I got in a huge chunk more. I did complete my first ever novel that year. I kept writing too, and the next year, not only did I go on to write a good 12+ short stories, but I went on to get EIGHT OF THEM PUBLISHED! I now have a shelf in my bookcase dedicated to short story anthologies I am actually in! And they're not self published either. I kept pushing myself to be better than no one but yesterday's me, and I succeeded! I even have some reviews of a few of the books, picking my story out specifically, to highlight as one of the reader's favourites! And I don't mean that as I'm happy I am coming out on top, I mean that as I was able to rise above my weaknesses and made work that actually stood out. I'm sorry I'm babbling your ear off, but I tell a lot of people this quote, really hoping it will inspire them as much as it had me, and you're one of the first people to react in a way I feel aligns with how I felt, more than anyone to date. Thank you for that, it really makes me feel as though I've made some kind of difference ♡. I hope you use this quote to go on and do something amazing, something you didn't have the faith in yourself to do before! Fly friend! it sounds weird bc it's a direct translation from Russian. We have different aphorisms and stereotypes, but the translator just made it in English and changed 'learn english' to 'learn spanish' so it doesn't look broken. But still it sounds super weird in English. Actually, I can agree with a lot of stuff there, but I'll need to explain each point from my point of view😄 www.adme.ru/svoboda-psihologiya/12-zhestokih-istin-kotorye-otricaet-pochti-kazhdyj-iz-nas-poka-zhizn-glaza-ne-otkroet-2010915/ You can see why it's russian by looking at 13:07. It's a Russian actor Alexander Petrov. Also, the illustrations are made by Anastasiya Pavlova as seen at the bottom. And the aphorisms aspect too. A weird sentence about working as a horse is actually an aphorism for workaholics.

Ikr? It's complete pessimistic clickbait trash. I've always thought that body positivity wasn't about saying that every body type is healthy, but saying that all humans deserve to be treated with respect and not shamed regardless of what body type they have. Being severely overweight or underweight is objectively not healthy, but that shouldn't diminish your value as a person or your ability to be loved. And you can't really tell someone's health status or if they're trying to be healthier just by looking at them anyway (and being visibly very skinny isn't objectively healthy either! As a clinically underweight person, it freaks me out a bit that society seems to have this awfully harmful image of a tiny perfect body), if you're not their doctor, so that's not an excuse to fatshame.

*Why is this Gold?* *Because:* without the editing and scripting, you get more Jarvis for your money than the main channel, and because editing and scripting reduces the Jarvis factor by a power of 10. Now, of course, Naive fans will be lead to believe that the larger Jarvis Johnson main channel is the better one since it has crisp editing and is more scripted, *BUT don't let that fool you!* You see, *the more editing and scripting there is, the less of actual Jarvis we get!* That is why a totally *improvised and unedited channel is better and indeed, a more GOLDEN version of the other, more famous Jarvis channel*

@@Your_Native_Mothman while true. the body positive line of "healthy at every size" is wrong. if you're over or underweight you arent healthy. And the only thing they got right was that, being body positive doesnt me a lack of self care. If you actually cared about yourself, you'd try to be healthy. Even if you dont always succeed, that fact of you trying is already self care. Oh a side note, the current body positively movement isnt really something most people should follow are its is today. It's extremely toxic and echo chambery, and will actually get you way more into self hate than if you just followed the concept of it (which is to love yourself for who you are), and also hate other people in it for certain.... like losing weight or being on the low end of being plus size. The the idea is good and the concept is great, most of the people in the social media atmosphere isn't.

body positivity, laziness, cracked nails?! i want to get rid of this involuntary nail-biting i've had for years. Others don't choose to be "hygiene-lazy", nor are we "body positive" about that either. Some of us are trying hard to cope up with our hygiene yet these people think it's a lack of motivation, what a disappointment. (sorry for the bad english)

Pro tip I've heard somewhere. Try to imagine intrusive thoughts as if they were being shouted at you by an Old Man Yelling at Clouds or a douchy frat boy or somesuch. It can be easier to untangle them for some people if they personify them as belonging from someone they wouldn't take advice from anyways.

Adding onto Julia M.’s comment, my little sister has OCD, and she was told to do something similar with her intrusive thoughts. She was 9, so they told her to pretend it was like, a gremlin on her shoulder or something that she would brush/flick off. I’m sure you’ve been given this kinda stuff before, but someone like Trump might be a good candidate that you can flick off ur shoulder, lol

Yeah same, and I’d wager a good deal of people also have thought / regularly think things like that... Especially “there’s always someone younger, smarter, prettier, overall *better* than you”. Also “You can only blame yourself for what’s happening in your life”, “appearance matters more than anything else”... Hopefully no one too young read this “”article”” and internalized these statements... Because I did and it’s so hard to let go of them...

This is definitely me projecting, but this entire article is something an abuser would tell their victim. Even with the “it’s you who let your boss shout at you” thing and promoting codependency aside, the whole message of this article is that you have no self worth, and that it’s useless to try to do ANYTHING to better your own life. Don’t try to do good deeds for other people because they’ll find you annoying and don’t need you anyway. Don’t try to get a job because there’s always someone “better than you” who will be chosen instead. And don’t you *dare* try and be confident in yourself, you’re just masquerading how ugly and lazy you really are. All of these sound exactly like what an abuser would say to keep you vulnerable and in line.
