In case anyone didn't know or noticed, the last exercise is at least in part used in his solo in Nasty by Polyphia, in fact the whole solo is made from this kind of arpeggios with slides; this is very important because it means they are not only fancy exercises to build up speed, but also an actual part of a song that you can play, or a phrase that you can use in a composition of your own
@marksifuentes10025 жыл бұрын
I started doing this naturally because I couldn't bar very well but I was always second guessing myself and trying to force myself to bar. I'm glad I saw this. He shows what not barring can do. Definitely worth the time and effort to master.
@gregorp84065 жыл бұрын
most people that use barring on arpeggios have to focus on muting the strings with the right hand as well..i've also had the same thoughts, and even though i've studied classical guitar first and was very familiar with barring, when it came to sweeping on the electric it just didn't cut it!This way is better, takes some work to nail but once you get it, you never go back for sure!
@jfo30003 жыл бұрын

It's kinda rare to see him struggle with something but i mean who could play those arpeggios that way with this speed, it's just unnecessary... It shows that although he is going full technical mode he doesnt try to perfect something just for the sake of perfecting it as it wouldnt have any musical benefit for his playing. The definition is “the notes of a chord played in rapid succession, either ascending or descending” which doesn’t actually mean notes can’t ring together.
