Saw them live at the Fillmore East several times - they opened for Grass Roots and Buddy Rich in January 17 & 18 of 1969, loved them and saw them again on March 21 - 22, 1969, where they were the second act ahead of Ansley Dunbar and opening for Creedence Clearwater, and then again on October 17 & 18, 1969 where they headlined for the Kinks and Bonzo Dog Band. I didn't get to see their 1971 set, I was working that weekend. Looking back on the Fillmore East era, I feel so fortunate to have been able to go to so many shows and be a small part of rock & roll history. I still have the programs from all the shows I went to. I saw them three or more times at Eagles auditorium in Seattle. They were always a crowd pleaser, didn't matter if they were the openers or the stars of the show they just rocked hard, kicked ass and everyone went home happy. @ekj2613 жыл бұрын
@@debbiewagner1996 Totally agree! 12 Dreams is one of the most unjustly overlooked albums of all time. I suspect it was at least partly due to the fact that they broke up while recording it so there was no band to go on the road to promote it, plus there was no obvious commercial single (like "I Got A Line On You") to drive AM radio airplay.

The only show I ever had my tape deck snapped outta my hands mid show (or anything like that) was SPIRIT (Rainbow Thtr '84±) in Denver. I got it back & backstage Ed was a nice guy; we chatted about Mark Andes' gig w/Heart (Bad Animals: 'Who Will You Run To')& more. Meanwhile, Mr 'California' walked around looking for a fight scowling at people (inc me) like 'What the fk are You doing here & gimme coke‽ NOW!' SPIRIT is a strange BAND- it's gone through a lot of people not unlike C Heat. At one point, there were about two of everything except for drummeR (Ed kept the name legit & stuck with it). It's impossible to find the 'Feedback' album anymore & it's a good album. After The Staehely Brothers lp (Epic) Al went on to play with Gravenites -Cipollina Band aka Thunder & Lightning & John Staehely worked with Dylan's 'Neverending Tour (3rd phase of 23± nights. People who talk about that era of SPIRIT show how little they know usually. RC liked to tell people he & Jimi were gonna do this... I never saw him evolve into much more when that dream died. Jimi was polite w/EVERYONE who wanted to ’Let's make a band together!' at him. 'Yeah, Man. That'd be cool. See ya.'
