Love it! looks like so much fun! I live just north of Minnesota, no 'gills here but we have a couple lakes with crappies and pumpkinseed. I may look for pencil reeds next April. Cheers!

I carry a small hatchet . It easily opens up yesterdays holes that have skinned over. Chop like yur opening a tin can, then lift out the "lid".

I’m fishing shallow ponds similar to this… seems like the bite is very slow… low oxygen levels?

We have seen many shallow lakes and shallow weed patterns shut down on some small lakes in particular this winter because of the amount of snow on the ice. Dying weeds will ruin some shallow bites.
