I am a Proud ABBA fan 🖤 I can remember going into a record store in the 80s with my all black clothing and new wave hair getting a ton of CDs and the guy pauses when he gets to the Abba CDs, looks me dead in the eye and goes "really?!" And I was like dude it doesn't matter who you are in this world everybody's got a favourite ABBA song; after thinking about it for a moment he fully agreed with me 😆💜

While not an ABBA fan this song is close to the perfect pop song. Got the lyrics, got the drops, got the mellow, got the rock. Of course delivered with talent that is phenomenal. And 46 years ago And has music evolved ? I'm pretty confident that music's current historical peak was 70s -> 80s fading into 90's.
@garrettromer84992 жыл бұрын
Think u gotta add the 50s and 60s in there. Like Elvis the Beatles. I personally don't like either one of them but there's no denying how important their music was to everyone back then and their influence on the music industry. But yeah after the 90's music really started to suck. Even bands that were good in the 80s and Early 90s started pumping out trash in the late 90s early 00s.

I'm so glad to see you continue to react with my favorite ABBA song "S.O.S." has a story It was one of Their first recordings after the greatest success of "Waterloo" in Eurovisión, just four months later, in August 1974 But it waited almost a year for its release, in June 1975 at Sweden, September 1975 at UK and US "Waterloo" needed another theme to confirm the trend and it was not an isolated success or a stroke of luck ABBA's next three elections failed to stand out Until finally "S.O.S." have your chance to be a single, and broke the drought, reaching #6 in the U.K. and #15 in the U.S. being Their second hit in both countries at the same time, and six #1 and more Top 10 in several countries of all continents and after these, ABBA had 18 Top 10 consecutives in UK between 1975/1982, for example: Mamma Mía, Fernando, Dancing Queen, Take a chance con me, Chiquitita, etc "S.O.S." in less than 200 seconds is a gem, a masterpiece! The transitions from the dramatic opening (a dingy piano and a cracking Agnetha voice) to a powerful rock beat with catchy pop chorus in the middle are brilliant. ABBA marked an era in many ways One was the musical leadership of its beautiful and lofty female vocalists as the center of attention Another was the use of contrasts, such as sad lyrics with catchy melodies and harmonies And their recording tecnique "wall of sound" gives ABBA more powerfull ABBA, as in its time BEATLES, left an unforgettable mark on several generations It is good music that lasts and stays alive and well. Thank you very much for your honesty and sensitive in your reaction I hope to see you in another video to ABBA My new suggestion is to you see a live perfomance of ABBA in London 1979 "Summer night city": kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaHdm4KDa89-qtk or a video with two songs in a row: "Does your mother know" + "Hole in your soul" the energy of all ABBA members on stage is unbelievely, you will see ABBA as never before My best regards to You from Buenos Aires, Argentina South América

(in swedish) for her solo album a few mounts later in 1975 too also the brunette Anni Frid (better called Frida) was mezzo soprano voice, you can hear She leads in #1 hits like Fernando Knowing me knowing you Super trouper I suggest to the next video back to 1974, when begin the international famous to ABBA, when They win in the mytic England the most historic edition of Eurovision with their iconic piece of glam rock "Waterloo" this is the link with the introduction and their live perfomance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKGUkIKBltx7j9k congratulations to your love to ABBA songs And hope to continue with more ABBA, the Fab Four from Sweden Stay safe and be care

Ha! Just realised I have been listening (and even re-istening) to your reviews and not pressing like. Going forward I will do this. Apologies. ABBA is known as a supergroup, for good reason. I remember as a kid my parents buying the records and me playing ABBA over and over. I always loved my dad telling me that their name was made up of the band members' initials and me being about 7or 8 years old and being amazed. It's simple and effective and clever and also as catchy as their songs as well. Please also listen to Pomplamoose - Bust Your Knee Caps. I've suggested it before and hop it is on a playlist somewhere for your new reactions one day. They are a husband and wife duo with her being the singer and her husband the musician. She sings in French too, which is also sublime to listen to. They are so wonderful and unique and I read somewhere she is unwell at the moment. I also just wanted to say I love your reaction videos, you are my favourite reactor. Loved you on Bohemian Rhapsody most of all (think I have waited it several times now). You come across as such a genuine and honest person, open-minded and positive and conclude this is what is down to your success. Your facial expressions when a song has you bemused are always hilarious too. That's frown and head tilt always has me creased up. Keep doing what you are doing, man. And thank you for existing. Now I need to leave myself a comment: "Must press like, must press like, must press like". 🤣

The secret to how Abba achieved such incredible sounding vocals is multi-tracking and layering. The song would be sung and recorded several times. Then it was a matter of layering one recording of just their voices perfectly over another one, over and over. The effect gave their songs an incredible resonance, like they were singing in huge cathedral. This was before digital, so it had to be done on reel-to-reel tapes, which is very time consuming and tricky to get right.

In fact someone did sample it: Madonna used it in her song "Hung Up" - one of the few times that ABBA allowed their music to be sampled. People dismiss ABBA as being lightweight because their songs are catchy, but it's the combined experience of the band members as performers (solo and in previous bands) and as songwriters, plus the session musicians they used, that make their songs strong.

If you will you can discover ABBA full energy, passion and enthusiam in Live Wembley 1979 with the song package "Does Your Mother Know + Hole In Your Hole" or "Summer Night City" or the long version "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme"), also Live Australia 1977 from ABBA-The Movie "Why Did It Have To Be Me", "Get On The Carousel" and a brilliant "Dancing Queen"- version . Otherwise exist also an progressive side of ABBA with "The Eagle" (5:54 the long version with guitar-solo part) or "The Visitor" (sadly don't know a video) or simple the all time favor pop hymn "Knowing Me, knowing You" (also a good offical video) or the underated synth Pop "Me And I", both in ABBA Meet Dick Cavett 1981 (last Live TV show; also brilliant "Summer Night City"). This original audio of SOS you heard, is a favorite pop song of pro musicians from the 70s, like Pete Townsend of th Who, and Elvis Costello, to name a few. This song has Benny playin a grand piano through a "phase shifter," along with a MiniMoog, for the sonic tone journeys here and there, an old-school vintage analog synth that Stevie Wonder plays, in Boogie On Reggae Woman. You might like "Name of the Game." It has kind of a slow, urgent beat to it.
