To me the best years for music were the 60's up to around 1990 - so many talented people and the record labels would take time to allow artists to develop and find an audience. There's still new music out there worth listening to but you have to really seek it out. As for ABBA, you remind me of myself years ago when I first discovered their music. I could not get enough.

I agree with you. In our days there is less love in our actions in what we do so there is less passion. There is to much gray everywhere. We need color. We need love. We need happiness. It is hard when there is to many peope trying to tell others how to be. What they can say or not. And job that do not pay enough so people can have project for there own like before. You know, in those days, one job was enough to raise a familly. Today it is impossible unless you have a great job on top, even then it is hard. So, musique should be more about magic, emotion, passion.

I'm loving that you've discovered this great band, JB. And you're right, they could pull off many different styles. And each member brought something special to the group. Keyboard player Benny wrote most of the music. His ability to weave simply but beautiful melodies, counter-melodies, and musical licks together is amazing. Each part is so simple, but the way he wove them together like a tapestry... beautiful. And of course, both girls have excellent voices, and they blend together seamlessly. Sadly, ABBA wasn't taken seriously in the US because of the way they dressed. They were called corny, and it wasn't cool to like ABBA in the 70s. But looking back, their songs stack up well or better than other music coming out at that time. Love them.

Yes, Knowing me, knowing you" was released years before the 2 couples broke up. But it MAY have been inspired by some difficulties in their relationships, above all in the one from Björn and Agnetha. What makes ABBA so extremely great, is not only their outstanding, unparalleled music - a row of so many hits, and also the incredible talents of all 4 of them. It's also the fact that they dealt with their broken relationships (Björn + Agnetha: in late 1978, Benny and Frida in late autumn of 1980) in such an extremele mature, good way. The fact that the fab 4 from Sweden are simply so grounded, humble and likeable people.
