My 97 zj has the factory skid plates that cover the fuel tank and the steering components . Such as Pittman arm steering box idler arm ECT.

I have the factory front skid too, but my ZJ never came with the gas tank skid in the back. Definitely glad to have that extra protection finally!

I have the front and rear plating also on my '97. Something I notice on the fly as I'm out 'n' 'bout if other ZJ's have or not. I got the new class III installed for free due to the safety recall. :)

The trailer hitch would of gone back on with the gas tank skid plate from Iron Rock Off Road with no problem? Reason being is that I live in a neighborhood that's high in Gas Thieves and I need the plate along with the trailer hitch to tow my future Bass Boat. I just wanted to know for sure before I buy the skid plate.

I had a 96 ZJ and currently a 98 ZJ, both had fuel tank skid plates from the factory, strange your ZJ didn't. That skid plate definitely is a tight fit in there and you have to remove the receiver hitch to install it as far as I can recall. I installed a T-case skid plate on my 98 ZJ and I figured they were all setup from the factory to just bolt one on....nope, I had to fish bolts through the sub-frame holes to install it but its on there and isn't going anywhere....got the skid plate from the pick a part for $10.

I've got a Grand Cherokee I've been considering doing a build on I'm currently looking at lift kits I'm thinking about doing a rough country 4 inch kit and swapping bumpers out for metal and BFG Baja KO tires
