Awesome video. Very detailed and informative. I was waiting for a call back for a quote from the mechanic. Was on the fence on doing this job myself. But your video definitely removed any doubts and removed the intimidation factor,so I will be replacing the wheel seals myself on my 05 liberty.

It was a big help since I'm going to be replacing a broken wheel stud and doing both the E-brake, and rear brakes while I have this whole thing apart.

Thank You! Pretty standard stuff but NEVER hurts to review. My son's new Gal Pal has a Jeep that needs some love to continue motoring along.

I am just about to tackle my 04 jeep liberty renegade 5 speed manual 4x4 rear end seals and its making a pretty mean grinding noise since running differential dry on oil so I'm a little scared what exactly what I'm going to find when I remove the rear differential cover but other than that concern with mine I really think you did a great job of explaining what tools were needed to use along the way and I liked how you used the paint marker to mark parts so they were able to be put back the same as removed very straight forward easy to understand video along with some specs to help give an idea of what torque bolts and nuts should be tightened to thank you

Thank you for the detailed instructions. I'm wondering about the rotating torque required for the pinion nut. The 2005 Jeep KJ Service Manual says "Rotating torque should be equal to the reading recorded during removal plus an additional 0.56 N·m (5 in. lbs.)." Are you recommending 10 in. lbs.?

Can you do a video on replacing all the bearings next? Great video!

I will if it needs it. I'm hoping with good maintenance and lubricants the bearings will hold up for a long time! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!!

There are three seals on the rear axle/differential. One each on the outboard where the axle passes through on the left and right, and one on the differential pinion. Thanks for watching and leaving a question!

Just a bit of the same gear lube is good for lubing the seal. Thanks for watching and leaving a question!

Is this with or without replacing the crush sleeve because I’m not getting near that torque reading. If I go over 100 it feels like it gets hard to turn and feels like it catches. Also takes 30 in/lbs to move
@midwestsynthetic Жыл бұрын
This is using the existing crush sleeve.
@johnburns11953 жыл бұрын
Great video and very very helpful. Curious why the rotational torque is original + 10inlbs. Because of the previously crush bearing? Thankyou for this video.
@midwestsynthetic3 жыл бұрын
That was the instructions from the service manual for the preload on the tapered bearing. The original crush sleeve was reused. 2+ years ago now and still going strong. And best of all no leaks! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!!

Do you have a part number to the rear axle seal by chance?
@midwestsynthetic2 жыл бұрын
No, sorry, didn't save that. I would have gotten them from Rock Auto, which has a bunch of manufacturers and part numbers. Thanks for checking out the vid!
