Jeff's signature trem bar control to make it sound like he's playing a slide. Unmatched genius.

Jeff was interviewed in a Guitar World or Player mag about the slide solo in Blaze of Glory and the guy was a amazed when his reply was that there's no slide in the solo. Fender had the then new roller nut system with locking nut and that stability return spring on the trem. It's an absolutely stunning guitar solo.

This is one of my top 3 favorite tracks of all time. If anybody reading this is wondering what the big deal about Jeff Beck's playing is, consider this - every note he plays is pitch perfect. Not great. Not excellent. But bone-chillingly perfect. What is so cool about this video, is it shows Jeff Beck trying to give them what they want for THEIR album - not his. He's open to any feedback trying to deliver the goods for a song he didn't write. I doubt he even heard the song before stepping into that studio. Basically, with Bon Jovi's feedback, he beat the solo into submission and gave them what was destined to be on that recording. This is really a great video. If there are any more from these sessions, I would love to see them.

My favourite Jeff Beck era is the late 70s/early 80s BUT the way he refreshed his playing style and image following that period is monumental!! Ditching the pick, replicating the slide using the whammy bar, dedicating himself to using a Pro Co Rat with more filter, signature strat, t-shirt and jeans and loads of guest studio appearances. I loved his fusion stuff but he had to move away from that to enter his next phase of reinvention. He's more than "God".
