Actually there were two blasian sisters in my school (dad-nigerian, mum-malaysian chinese) and they were given an exception after their mum personally came to school to talk to the teachers. So they had their natural hair up for a few years but eventually the school told them to braid it because they created a "no Afro hairstyle" rule, deeming it to be too "fashionable" 🤦♂️

Man, if teachers tried that “feeling for the top of your bra strap” thing in an American school, they would have a sexual harassment claim filed in a heartbeat! lol even if there is no pervy intentions, they wouldn’t risk it here. Also, I cut my hair a few years after I graduated (it’s about the length of yours, actually) and I second the feeling of not knowing how I managed long hair! Lol lockdown had me jokingly saying “I look like the lead singer of a teenage emo band that sings about how hard life is for a kid!” I wish I would have taken a picture just for laughs before cutting it!

damn as a person who kinda went to this sort of school, I both feel oddly nostalgic and kind of like "yeah those rules were kinda dumb, why do we have those anyways???"
@racquelillustrates17922 жыл бұрын
Personally, I love having long hair (hell, most of my OCs’ have rapunzel hair, even the non-binary ones). There’s just more variety style-wise. But all those school rules are just a shitty excuse to control the students deviation from the norm. Coincidentally, I was reading a Sociology chapter on Deviance and how different cultures and their norms differ in that term. To me, all those rules were just to rule out any “deviants” and punish them for simply having a unique preference. Control freaks…😡 Cool video, though😊

I’m going to cut my hair on my birthday since that is the only time my mum will allow it, her only rule was “Promise me you won’t keep your hair that short your whole life” and as a trans guy that was um. Interesting to “agree” to-
@LocalPest2 жыл бұрын
My school also has rules against hair, but they are weird. The boys' hair can be any natural color but cannot cover the neck nor the eyes. The girls' hair must be tied with any colour of hair tie but ribbons and other accesories must to be black, white, grey, or navy blue (hair colour rule also applies for girls). Notice that the girl hair had no length requirment, so a girl can have a pixie cut but still be required to tie her hair

in middle school i went to a private school (still do) and that school was STRICT. they had a rule where the female's hair could not be short, see, im korean and i had that korean boy hairstyle in middle school, and my hair takes like, 10 years to grow. and i couldn't just stop cutting my hair. my mother would chop my head off.

I went to public school in the US (which has a reputation for not being… Great. Lol depends on where it is. Mine wasn’t THAT bad. But it wasn’t great) and it always blows my mind how strict schools are in other countries. Especially Asian countries. The only clothing rules we had were no shorts above the knee, no shoulders showing, no holes bigger than a quarter in jeans (which I always thought was a shitty rule cause not every family can afford new jeans every time one pair gets a hole in it), and maybe a few other small rules. Nothing big. Oh, and no hair dyed “unnatural” colors. But there was a kid in my school with a huge Mohawk he dyed crazy colors and they never stopped him. It’s hard to imagine myself with normal colored hair now. I have my hair in a pixie cut and it’s currently dyed hot pink. But it’s usually purple.
@sparkleglitter67762 жыл бұрын
At our school we are allowed to dye our hair but only natural colours (most teachers still give you a warning for dying your hair even though we are allowed to do it 🙄) and we are only allowed to wear dark green our black hair ties 🤦♀️🤣

I have sister locs and a hell of a lot of volume in my hair. My hair is past my collar but no one would be able to tell. I have the permanent messy shaggy dog hair style (named because I get my hair slightly damp and shake). I would be barely skirting the dress code.

I have long thick hair but a sensitive scalp. I can't have my hair in a ponytail for more then an hour before I get a migrane so bad I can't function. Then my scale hurts for the next two days. I tried short hair once and idk why everyone said it looked fine, I have a round face and short hair made me gain 80 pound. 💀

Wow i never knew gov school like that dont want you to have short hair. My chinese gov school is no long hair and also bang unless you have a paper for it, you hvae to tie it up to a bun thou. But since the covid thing, that rule has become really loose and students is just tieing their hair cus its long now, but still need to tie it in a bun cus it looks better (still dont care about that rule thou lol)

It was mostly because it's a convent all-girls school and there were quite a lot of lesbians and bisexuals. Especially the ones who had boy-cut short hair. There were so many dating rumours so the school didn't want it to taint their reputation 😑

Yay comment number two featured in a video even if it was briefly Would you grow your hair for a year if I asked nicely And we can both chop our hair off at the end of the year Cause I grow my hair long but occasionally cut it short But idk it’s up to you just wanted to ask Cause it would be interesting to see you with long hair lol Love your videos

I remember when I was a child my hair (long), would always look like I just fought ww2. And it pissed off my ONE teacher. She would be like, "that's too messy" no this" no that". And since my hair is thick I didn't really wear it in ponytail or braid but rather wear a bandana. But she didn't allow it. Then I tried using a hijab but I wasn't allowed to wear that either cuz I wasn't muslim. (Wearing a human was more of a tradition thing in our family) I remember it always leaving me in tears after school once she took my hair stuff

Both boys and girls had to be bald? Interesting. Schools in the US are very, very relaxed about hair styles. When I was in school (ten years ago. I’m old 😭) the only rule was no “unnatural” colors like blue, pink, purple. Otherwise we could do anything.
