At the end of the day, it all boils down to respect.
I don't expect people to put their beliefs aside and accept my way of life but if they're gonna interact with me, do it with some decency.
BTW, if y'all can hear my microphone moving, that's because the stand broke so I was holding it 😂😂

I was really scared when I first started to publicly use “they/them” pronouns and subsequently having to explain that to my family as well, more scared than I was when I came out as asexual. So many mixed reactions but generally I feel better living openly like this and am so grateful to hear other NB aces happy living more openly too.

Everyone in my school respect my name and pronouns, the only problem is that my mom says it’s disrespectful to her and the name she gave me, like “ no teachers don’t call my child by the name and pronouns they chose”
@psychohuger3763
@psychohuger3763 2 жыл бұрын
I hope your situation gets better and your mom doesn't get how names and pronouns work. A name is what you feel is most comfortable to be called by, most people are comfortable with the name they were given at birth but there are a lot of people (like you) that are not and that's fine. Pronouns are how we socially address someone and there is no rule or say so that someone has to go by the pronouns that correspond with their sex at birth.

I like going by the name 'Ley' which is short for my deadname so it's just easier for others and i sorta like the name in general, when i told my mom and dad, ofc my mom had to comment "oh it's like you're getting laid" THE FUNNY THING IS THAT NO ONE EVER FUCKING QUESTIONED MY DEADNAME AND NEITHER HAS MY DAD. my dad actually tries and calls me Ley occasionally, and it means a lot to me that he's trying.

What really pisses me off is when I came out to my mom as Genderfluid, and for my own sake and other's, I started using they/them, as even if I identify femininely or masculinly, "They/them" never felt wrong. So my mom knows that I"m genderfluid and that I use they/them. I have a trans friend that my mom uses correct pronouns with. and yet my mother stubbornly refuses to realize that i wish to be a gender enigma.

I'm always afraid of disrespecting someone without meaning to. In my language (German) there is a lot of discussion concerning gender correct grammar. I'm honestly often annoyed by it because you can never do it right. Someone is always offended. Making it so complicated also doesn't change a hater's mind to be more open minded. Luckily it's easier in English! :) So don't be afraid to correct someone like me if I accidently disrespect you. For me, everybody is equal. I don't care what identity and sexuality you label yourself with - as long as you are nice, I love your soul for who you are ♥

Hello, I'm an abro guy. I wanted to know exactly about neopronouns and neogenders. I've recently started to think that those customed pronouns and gender identities are sort of weird. Like legit, they don't make sense anymore nowadays. They seemed faked and not genuine. Example, "I go by slime/slimeself/slimer". Like, huh? There is a few more and they were serious about it. And I can't make up my mind about it, especially when my friend used to use neopronouns. They now use he/him or they/them because he started to think most neopronouns are ridiculous. Not really, but kind of what we both think. Edit, I forgot about this comment. Ngl, I don't quite understand until now, but I do understand that they just simply prefer it that way. So... Well, neopronouns may be weird but whatever. It's not gonna kill us.

wow this vid is really educative, i use to think that people who wanted to be called they/them did it bc "it is what's popular right no" and it bothered me because they were "messing with the language" (like they/them is plural but its use to address a single person now) but I didn't know it was actually something that important to some people, and your right, it does not affect me in any way so why not just called people the way they want to be called. i feel like maybe our vocabulary lack so many words, maybe we should invent another pronounce to refer to non-binary person bc its a little weird (for me) to use a plural to refer to a single individual (but that's just something I gonna work on)

It makes me happy you’re open to learning, friend. Unfortunately many would rather not listen and learn something. :( As someone that’s kind of an in the closet enby, I like they/them. I think it sounds nice. We do have pronouns people have invented (or have existed a while and aren’t well known) like “xe/xir” and they’re called neopronouns. Now, I’m not gonna tell another enby how to identify, as it’s not my business, but I don’t have a fondness for neopronouns in regards to myself. I would rather use “they/them”. If it makes any difference, I’m in my late twenties and to me it’s not going along with a trend. In fact, the area I live in the US isn’t exactly… that open to lgbt identities. They’re not the Deep South but they’re also not nice about it. So I’m definitely not doing it for social credit. Lol

In germany we don’t have any neutral pronouns, meaning that most non-binary people just use all pronouns. But what happens is always that people will still call them their old pronouns, because that should be fine, when it’s all pronouns. When will people get that she/her is a part of all pronouns, but when you only use she her you just see them as a girl and don’t accept them?

I don't really had that much of a problem with my name. Where I come from its considered to be a boys name, when in reality it's more like for guys and girls. I do have a second name which makes my sex clear on paper tho. I hate that name. But I get misgendered quite often? If you can call it that because I genderfluid. I'm not out to a lot of people that interact with me on a day to day basis. But I like he/him they/them. Sadly there is not really a gender neutral pronoun where I live other than it. And it seems kinda dehumanizing to me. So I don't like it when people joke about that. To me it feels like they are not referring to a person. Oh sorry. I didn't mean it like in a bad way. If someone uses it as a pronoun I terribly sorry. That's just my personal opinion / how I feel about it.

This reminds me of something that happened recently: so I have online school and when we sign in to the online meetings we have the option of including our pronouns next to our displayed name so I always include she/her next to my name (note I am a cisgender girl). One day towards the end of class we can ask any questions about assignments either through voice or through the text box, just about everyone is pretty vocal but I prefer to type it out. I had a typo in mine but another student caught on to what I meant and voiced clarification: " I think he meant by the scoring system- I MEAN SHE--SHE, sorry." Now I want to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake and they weren't paying attention to my display name, but at the same time it felt a little weird.

I am gender fluid but I use she/her since I am biologically female and I don't care about pronouns at all. People can use whatever they want but I have decided to go with the official one. The problem comes when certain queers or even non-queers come and tell me that I should be using they/them if I am gender fluid cuz thats the appropriate pronoun in my case

A while ago, I finally became confident enough to tell ppl abt my preferred name. Before this, I would only tell ppl who were very close to me or ppl who I just met (as in, I would tell ppl that my name is * preffered name; aka Axel* and not tell them my birth name). My other friends who weren't all that close to me didn't know about it And then one day, I finally announce it to everyone but my family. But that was when all my fears came true... people came to me and said that they weren't going to call me by my preffered name bcuz THEY preferred my birth name. I acted like that didn't bother me and just brushed it off but secretly, I started to feel a bit insecure bc I really felt like my preffered name suited me perfectly while my birth name felt far from it. It felt as if they weren't accepting me as a person and it hurt when they didn't respect my choices. I might be going on abt this a bit dramatically but it still hurt...especially when one of my friends who is like a younger brother to me tried changing from saying my preffered name to my birth name. When we first met, I told him that my name was Axel and he had no problem with it but when I finally told him the truth, he tried to call me by my birth name more. But eventually, he just kept calling me by my preffered name and idk if it's bc he forgot or he actually saw how important it was to respect someone's preferred name just like when he respects their pronouns. Welp, at least I don't have to constantly lay my ears on my dead name from him

Well, i just like use any pronouns, don't really care what is it. I'm demigirl (or at least i think) and completely looking like a boy. So when people call me he/him, i go along with that. I sometimes even speak like a boy. (In my language, women and men speak a little different. Hell, we can't even use they/them pronouns properly) Thinking about it, maybe i should declare myself as an agender.

I love this video, I relate to this so much, I'm non binary and use they/them but I'm nervous obout being open in school cause people openly misgender me, weather it be on purpose or not I never have the guts to correct them on my pronouns, I was lucky to have a relatively unusual name that is gender neutral so I don't have to worry about being dead named, however specifically my year group is "all girls" so the teachers say things like girls and young ladys to address us as a group, I don't think they should do this as there are multiple trans kids in my year and they are aware of that. I hope that in the future people will learn to use more gender neutral language and use specific pronouns when people tell them as it would make so many people feel more comfortable

I'm an lgbt+ Malaysian too. I'm bi and non-binary (genderfluid) I dislike my birth name so when introducing myself in university, I asked to be called by a different name. Thankfully, everyone was pretty chill about it. Even some of my teachers call me by the name I prefer I also told them I dislike feminine callings like saying someone is "beautiful" I prefer to be called "handsome" I explained to some people who I know are LGBT friendly that I prefer they/them or he/him but I know it's not easy for them to op to it so I don't mind if they want to call me by she/her For legal documents obviously, I have to go with my birth gender I don't expect people to correctly gender me so usually i ignore it but when people refer me properly, I get happy I prefer to look masculine. I dislike looking feminine and frail Me and my friend would often confuse people for fun where I pretend I am her boyfriend. One of the best things I like to do The part about the newspaper where it said "how to spot LGBT people" is the most bs thing I have ever seen Can't believe I grew up in such a dumb environment
