Excellent choice, Jen. Disturbed is one of my favorite bands. David Draiman has a very characteristic and versatile voice, which perfectly mixes the harsh and aggressive with the melodic and smooth. "Prayer", "Stricken", the disturbing "Inside The Fire", the emotional "Hold on to Memories", and so many other incredible songs.

David Draiman is one of the gods of the heavy metal genre.

This was Disturbed's first radio single, and my first exposure to the band, back in the day. Followed by 'Down With The Sickness', which got them even more notice, and is likely their best known song.

About "Stupify" and videoclip: When lead singer David Draiman was young, he dated a Latina girl, and her parents never approved of him because he's Jewish. The song is about racism. In the music video, the band performs in a dilapidated room where a neglected boy is forced to live, haunted by the ghostly figures around him. In a 2000 interview, Draiman said the boy represents his inner child: "This inner child has been damaged in such a way that the world he sees around him is dark and frightening and marred by life experience. It's haunted by specters and ghosts from the past."

Great job Jen, thanks for this. With respect to the part you really liked, David actually trained as a cantor so, going back to his roots.

Just about ALL of their songs are great...but their 2nd Album 'Believe' is my favourite

I got to see them perform this live back when they did their first "Music as a Weapon Tour". They brought out the lead singer of Drowning Pool(Let the bodies hit the floor) and The lead singer of Adema Mark Chavez(half brother of Jonathan Davis of Korn) for this song. It was their encore song as it was their biggest hit at that time. "Down with the Sickness" was just starting to get big at that time. Great reaction and analysis as always.

keep up the amazing work so many amazing songs by disturbed. the vengeful one, inside the fire, stricken, 10,000 fists, perfect insanity, land of confusion, the light, open your eyes, another way to die, are you ready, hey you, bad man, voices, the night, asylum, the animal, fear, numb

at 12:06 As others have said, David is proudly Jewish and "tefached" is Hebrew, meaning "you will be afraid", but it's not meant in a threatening way but a foreboding way, almost like he knows people are afraid of him for being Jewish, and since he was trained as a hazzan/cantor, it could be interpreted as a sorta prayer of hopefulness, acknowledging their racism and praying, begging them to get past it without saying so.

you should try out Sevendust, with their song Black. B*tch is another song off their first album. they are both really good, just don't avoid B*tch because of the name.

Jennifer! Disturbed ... well we do know David Draiman can sing don't we. Such an intense staccato feel to this song. And a Hebrew word thrown in as a nod to his Jewish heritage. YES Jen you should find a way to throw in an Italian or Dutch word somewhere in one of your original songs (kind of hard to throw it into a cover). Interesting to read some of the comments that tell the story of the lyrics of this song. Great reaction and analysis as always Jen.

I love Disturbed so much! I'm happy when professional vocalists hear this and recognize the talent and technique that goes into what David Draiman does. His is probably my favorite male voice! I haven't seen you do the duet he and Ann Wilson (from Heart) did in 2022. Ann is 73 and still rocking! I'd be interested to hear you do an analysis of her voice from the 1970s, 2012 and now. She has embraced her changing voice and is just spectacular!) Let me see if I can dig up some good links for you. I'll come back and edit with them. Ah, I see you've done the Stairway to Heaven tribute and Crazy on You, so you have two of the three I would have provided! Lol. Here's the duet with David and Ann, "Don't Tell Me." kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5Koc5qioKh5jMUsi=kfBn9MnjBgoNvFml Maybe try one of her softer songs from her earlier career, "Dog and Butterfly." Actually, here's a link from a live performance in 2018. Beautiful harmonies with her sister, Nancy. Sorry, I went down a Heart rabbit hole. 🕳🐇kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6nMl52In7ierdEsi=W_KtjiIO2nbQyPy7
