Sulfates aren’t bad for you people! Especially when you’re towards the lower end of the porosity scale, and heavy handed when applying products! I also feel like this information was great, but we must remember that the ingredients in shampoos are only activated through friction! If you don’t, it’ll eventually lead to build up, dried out, and brittle ends. Plus more breakage. Imagine trying to wash dishes without scrubbing them first. All of the oil and grease won’t come off.

I think knowing your sebum production is also important. A great way to check is to recognize how often you can go between washes without your scalp being on fire 🔥 haha aka in need of a wash. If you feel the need to wash your scalp more then once a week then you probably have a high sebum production aka “oily scalp” once a week normal and past a week or more drier or dry scalp. I have more of an oily scalp and my hair starts to itch and need a wash every 5 days like clockwork so that’s why I wash my hair once a week or every 5 days. I can prolong this by spraying water + ACV on my scalp but depending on the style my hair is in it can ruin the style so just something to keep in mind hope this was helpful.
@JennJackson4 жыл бұрын
Ouuu thanks for sharing! My mom’s scalp is on FIRE after a week so she much has oily scalp? I love learning new things about hair care 🙌🏽
@rionell4124 жыл бұрын
I agree. I have an oily scalp and I NEED to wash twice a week. Plus I sweat a lot so yeah once a week ain't gonna cut it lol. I'm also high porosity. Not sure if that makes a difference
@PreppyFay124 жыл бұрын
@@rionell412 Thank you for sharing your hair experience. I agree that as I’ve increased my physical activity my scalp does get dirtier quicker and more so when I wear it out and don’t cover it when I go outside ( more exposure to the elements, dirt and so on). My hair is also high porosity but I don’t find that affects my scalp as much as my other hair characteristic: fine strands which affects my hair in that my strands build up quicker because there’s less surface area on my strands to hold products even though my hair can absorb a good deal of product due to it being high porosity.

Parabens get a bad rep when they truly aren't that bad, there are some bad ones but for the most part, parabens lengthen the lifespan of your hair products and protect it from mould and germs, etc
@JennJackson4 жыл бұрын
I agree. They are preservatives BUT I have read scientific studies suggesting that parabens can disrupt hormones in the body and harm fertility and reproductive organs. Some has gone as far as suggesting that they can affect birth outcomes, and increase the risk of cancer. Now I haven't haven't ANY concrete studies saying that parabens has CAUSED any of this but if there are natural alternatives, I rather go that route. I just don't want to risk it. I don't need my shampoo to last a lifetime.

@@JennJackson Hey girl, hey! Lol, so sweet of you, yes actually I looked at that video and checked out the products that you listed. Jen, my hair is so testy, she doesn't like shea butter aloe juice/gel, coconut oil, glycerine, and tea tree oil. I am looking for a sulfate-free moisturizing shampoo much like what you mentioned in your video without any of the ingredients that I mentioned.
