So then damon turned him after the war and him being friends with Damon is probably how he wound up mixed up in Katherine's game and locked in the tomb. I don't think it's a plot hole just backstory for a character that wasn't really substantial for the plot. But that explains why damon knew him back then in the first place. If anything it fixes a plot hole.

This is my favorite episode of season 7. It’s done so well! I always love a Damon centric episode and this one is the best. I love the claustrophobic feel of this episode and getting to see Damon’s experience’s and confusion over what’s happening so intimately. Him breaking down at the end to his mother almost had me in tears. He is such a fascinating and enjoyable character to watch. Also, Ian’s acting is top notch this episode. He’s always great, but he was incredible here.

I, on the other hand, believe that seasons 7 and 8 do not say the most beautiful but the most interesting because it is very symbolic, significant and very psychological, it focuses a lot on the brothers' relationship and you understand who Stefan really is and who Damon really is their progress and not and many other things. I don't know why they don't like it I love these seasons.

this episode made me cry, Ian did *amazing* here. legit one of the best episodes in the series imo and the one that really made me wish they did the whole Lily plot earlier in the TVD series, because I feel like it would've added so much explanation to who Damon was at an earlier time in the show, and would've made his character feel even more complex at a time (pre delena or early delena) when it would've had a huge impact on the plot. i keep saying s6 is my favorite but i think season 7's whole delving into the Salvatore family/Stefan and Damon's backstory and bond/Damon's psyche was just really well done.

I remember getting so confused about Damon being in the stone or already being out...but I knew he would finally get out when he forgave Lily and cried to her dead body (since he let the pain in) 🥲 I actually screamed when he started attacking Stefan, Caroline an Bonnie (don’t really Care about Matt tbh) 🙂 and yes Damon has a lot of trauma in him and that (beside his sarcasm) is the only I think I can relate too...he is damaged, which makes him interesting for me and he looks good 😂

Damon on the day that Lily punished him for his mother's vase at the age of 10 he raised a wall and a kind of psychological self-defense, despite the threats from his father, despite the father beat her to bruises he did not admit to having broken the vase, he closes with his games despite the bruises, he does not complain and does not give satisfaction to his parents, when Lily takes the games of the wall and his psychologically created self-defense has collapsed and he felt vulnerable and unprotected, when his father burns him with a cigarette and Lily asks him what happened despite knowing everything even though the tears he says nothing but mind over the years as a human he had already begun to overcome his emotions become a depressed what kept him was Stefan.

I remember that I didn't like this episode much, when I first watched it. I was so annoyed by the not knowing what is real and what is not and all these loop stuff. I just don't like when I'm confused like that. But as soon as I knew what would happen, what was real etc. etc. I really like this episode a lot now. And Ian is delivering like hell (pun intended) in this episode.

In life, forgiveness is the key to healing the wounds suffered, it is not easy to forgive those who have hurt you so much especially when we talk about their parents because loving you and being there for you is normal and should be taken for granted. When you suffer injuries from your parents and especially from your mother, it marks your life forever and shapes you temperamentally, however Damon we have forgiven a family member the mother .

Nora left the phoenix sword inside Stefan after she stabbed him with it. And even if she didn't leave it there she would be kind enough to give them the stone to get them out she was mad when she stabbed him but she is not like the others

Interestingly, the stone should punish vampires for what they have done as vampires for their sins, at first I expected to see like the crimes of his victims especially in the first season instead Damon in the stone is human and leads him to a done by what he did as a human involuntarily finding himself getting his hands dirty for the first time but in reality the stone did not punish him but simply made him feel human and feel the pain a let's say a redemption rather than a punishment, the curious fact that mentally Damon is human and hasn't lived his vampire sins in stone.
