The Misfits had that sense of humor. Just like Alice Cooper with songs like 'I Love the Dead'. Love the conversations here abouts. The humor definitely began leaving with Samhain... Another story...!! Love all that stuff. Doyle seems well meaning and cool yes. And a positive influence..?! It goes back to the humor in Glenn's great songwriting. But yes, wonderfully messed up rock n' roll!

Christian here who LOVES Glenn Danzig and The Misfits I don't see anything wrong singing about dark and evil things, depending on how it's done of course I think Jerry is really cool but at times he does contradict himself by calling Glenn "a bad influence" Glenn is not, to me he's been a very good influence

I never realized misfits 95 had underlying Christian themes, Descending angel is obvious but I never realized the others were too. I need to know more about this! I'm not Christian myself but I find the old stories to be interesting and entertaining

@Frumess that would be awesome! I know pretty much everyone dislikes Misfits 95 but it was my introduction to the band and brings back a lot of good childhood memories. Not to mention it's why I picked up a guitar because of Doyles heavy riffs 🤣

There was an old Nardwuar interview with the Misfits, whilst Dez and Marky were in the band, where Jerry says Glenn would have to "go to church and repent for all of the satanic imagery in Danzig" if the original Misfits lineup were to regroup. I was about 16 when I saw that interview and I couldn't believe what I was hearing out of Jerry's mouth, it was so ironic.

Y'all ever heard Grave Robber? They're an underground horror punk Misfits rip off band. There's like 10-15 woahs in every song. They dress up as ghouls, with the singer resembling the crimson ghost. I love them, and my buddy Joe used to play bass for them. Over the summer they played a Christian music festival here in the Indianapolis area. I was quite confused. Turns out they are and have always been a Christian band. I never paid that much attention to the lyrics, but there were subtle hints 🤣

Yeah misfits had a lot of misogyny and violence in their lyrics. When I want to cover a misfits song I usually gotta skip over a lot of the classics because questionable lyrics in my opinion at least

He also changed the lyrics in Skulls, lol. It was what it was... Religion doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, regardless of the flavour, it's all a bit silly.
