I just finished my first ever stephen king book "the long walk". I might be depressed for a year. GREAT BOOK. Going on my favorites list.

Under the Dome was the first Stephen King book that I read, and I loved it. It was so engrossing and unlike things I had read before at the time. Even though it's over a thousand pages, I read it so quickly. I need to pick up some other ones that you suggested. I think I'll pick up my copy of Different Seasons soon.

As a young kid, I read every Stephen King book that came out. My favorite remains The Dead Zone. Very moving.

You definitely had some of my faves on this list. Different Seasons is a must read for sure! I also loved Needful Things. BTW Some of his books take place in Derry, but not the majority. Some books like The Tommyknockers, Desperation, Salem's Lot, and Under the Dome (which you mentioned) do not take place in Derry at all. King invented a bunch of fictional towns that are all located in Maine and are often referenced throughout his works. I know there's a thing with writers choosing settings that they know and presenting something authentic, but just like you, I love when he chooses a completely different setting.

Looove Duma Key! I used to read SK from the library as a kid. Duma Key is one of the first SK books I bought and read as an ‘adult’ when I rediscovered him.

I've just finished 'Under The Dome', and it firmly takes its place at the top of my King list - utterly incredible! Thank you for remining me that 'Duma Key' exists, I need to dive into that one :D

Of all the Stephen King fan appreciation videos I have watched yours is the best. I am thinking it is time to reread some of his older books. I loved The Stand, but I read it more than 20 years ago :)

Oh, I love Duma Key too. I reread it once a year, at least. I love all those books. His short stories are great too. Christine and It are the only two King novels that I would've added (save his short story collections.)

I actually own Duma Key because I pick up any Stephen King book I see at the thrift store, which is where I found it, but I literally knew nothing about it. Your little synopsis of it here really intrigued me, especially since you have read the majority of his books and that one is one of your favorites. I may I have to pick it up sometime soon 🤔

It was so good. Vert different from the original, but worth the read.

Small correction. In The Dark Half the person that comes to life is not a character but rather Thad Beaumont's pseudonym, George Stark. I'm sure that is what you meant, though. Great summaries and commentary. : )

Some years ago I read the Dark Half and I didn't like it but I think it could have been the translation :/ Maybe I'll try it again in english! Right now I'm reading The Shining (also translated because my library only had that copy) and I'm really liking it! I've never heard of Needful Things but now I want to read it so badly!! Thank you for these recommendations! 😄

I loved Dr. Sleep so much. Like, it is legit one of my top 5 favorite King books. Also, I know you wouldn't catch this, but he does a teeny tiny easter egg of Joe Hill's book NOS4A2, and that made me so happy I squeaked. Since I was at a job where I could have earbuds and listen to audiobooks all day, I got stared at. No shame. I don't know how old I was when I read The Dark Half, probably 12'ish? I seem to have junior high era memories associated with it. I've been slowly working my way through old King via audiobook, and that one is high on my list. I bought Under the Dome on sale, but I think I sold it to my used book store. I need to check my shelves. It was just so huge and I didn't see myself picking it up. Maybe I'll try the audiobook version of that. I haven't read Duma Key, or read anything about it, but if you love it, I'll bump it up the list, as well.
