I had a hysterectomy on Nov 14 and I had no pain after I. I took 1 pain pill the night I got home and took some gas x for the gas but other then that I had no pain. I cooked a full Thanksgiving meal and everything. The hysterectomy was the best thing for me. Today has been 3 weeks and I am still pain free. I have been avoiding lifting heavy things but this was the best decision I have ever made. My doctor said that I was very strong and even during surgery he noticed how strong I was. My incision healed fast but I am experiencing a little scare tissue but I had 3 c-sections and had a lot of that so I did expect that. I went in to surgery with the mindset that I not gonna allow this to put me down. I spoke strength into my surgery and recovery. Good luck to anyone having a hysterectomy.

I jst had a hysterectomy 1 week ago and they cut vertically. I kept one ovary bc the other one had cysts on it. I had a tumor and fibroids. Thankfully it wasn't cancer! 🙌🏻 I ate dried prunes and it really helped me go to the bathroom. I also used a massage gun on my hips and back that helped tremendously!! U will have a lot of gas! Walking around slowly helped. I wish anyone getting this procedure done the very best. God be you! 🙏🏼😘

@@kirstyallan3078 I had a hysterectomy(laparoscopically)a year ago. I have ZERO REGRETS. Of course, everyone is different. As far as pain,I was in far more pain (fibroids (20😬) horrific bleeding and cramping) before surgery. I didn't take pain meds aside from ibuprofen. She's absolutely right about constipation;you REALLY want to avoid it. I used Traditional Medicinals Smooth Move Tea in addition to a stool softener and it helped exponentially. My recovery was great. Don't overdo it and it's really easy to do! Make sure you have someone at your beck and call essentially. You might not need them like that,but you don't want to find out otherwise either. This video is super informative per my experience. Do yourself a favor,get a heating pad and a neck pillow. Depending on how you sleep normally, you might not be able to. I'm a side/stomach sleeper, so obviously,I couldn't sleep normally. These really helped me be comfortable. Hope this helped,stay safe and heal well💕🙏

I am almost 4 weeks into my recovery of hysterectomy/prolapse surgery and a perineorapphy and just when I feel better, I’ll have a bowel movement that’s a little on the bigger side. You cannot possibly give TMI! Women need to share this stuff. I am day 6 after laparascopic total hysterectomy; the pain from surgery was negligible but the pain from the gas and the constipation floored me for almost 2 days! I had my postop check yesterday and the nurse laughed and told me this was very common. Why didn’t they explain beforehand? I am walking around but feeling really tired, achy and pathetic……….that somebody as fit (and young) as you felt tired and achy was something that comforted me. I am normal, not pathetic. Keep spreading the knowledge.

I just had a hysterectomy yesterday. My ovaries are still in tact but everything else is gone. I’m feeling the gas pains and it’s terrible. I feel so bad for doing this but my bleeding was non stop for 4 months straight. @flyingfemme3462

@@lynettealston6283 hang in there. You have had major surgery and it is traumatic. No surprise that you feel bad. With ovaries intact you should not have an instant menopause - that is good in the long run. Gentle walking for the gas pain, with pain relief as you feel you need. Remember, take it early and take it frequently. And don’t forget some laxatives; the constipation sneaks up on you and will make you feel bad as well as anxious. Be kind to yourself and give yourself time. It will get better and feel more natural. Mother Nature always needs time. We are all here and got through this. So will you. Sending you positive thoughts.

I'm 36 years old...Had my hysterectomy done 4 weeks ago.. Uterus and fallopian tubes removal. Overies are still there... Heavy bleeding and cramps lead to the diagnosis endometriosis and adomyosis. My uterus walls were looking like swiss cheese. Full of holes. Constantly internal bleeding into the abdominal area. Pain like hell... Woke up from anesthesia-no pain. First time no pain for more than 15 years. Went to get coffee an hour later. Left hospital 2 days after operation. Started working 3 weeks post op. No pain no bleeding...nothing.... New life from the first day ✨️ 🙌 Best decision I've ever made!

Had gotten everything I need from surgical treatment package from gauze, fiber, vitamins, stool softeners, CBD incase, a body ease tea, cases of water, fruits, surgical area waterproof covers for showers, lose clothes pads heating/ice pack pillow, extra pillows a va jj washer, my nurse said she would give me ice packs for my va jj see her day b4 surgery n hysterectomy undies and surgical spanks to put pressure on the area so I can move comfortably. And thankfully I have my husband n 3 kids n fam. That's gonna help me n cook for me. Its a nerve recking situation a woman goes through but if its due to a medical reason its so needed. I had one two weeks ago, the referred gas pain (in shoulders and chest) is the worst (almost worse than the incision, in my opinion). Gas-X and stool softeners until you are finished with pain medication and have bowel moments - highly recommend miralax as well! Use a rolled towel up against your stomach when walking and when using the rest room until you feel more comfortable. You will do just great! Have a good support system the first week/week and a half at the very least - Good luck!

I haven’t finished this video yet but the part where you mention how it can take up to a full year after surgery to feel normal is so true. My first surgery was in 2015 for gallbladder and I never felt normal again. A year later was appendix and endometriosis related. A few months later I discovered hernias where 2 of my gallbladder surgery ports were. Had those ‘fixed’ in 2019. Hysterectomy is booked for a few days from now and I will need to go back later this year to fix hernias (previous surgery failed). The whole “take it easy” thing is no joke at all and I wish someone would have told me that feeling ‘normal’ could take longer than the 6-12 weeks so I didn’t overdue it because I ‘should have been fine’. Thank you so much for sharing that and I hope someone hears this and it saves them from any further complications!

Hi, thanks for sharing. I’m having a long incision/ the surgery cannot be done laparoscopically. Is that what you had?
@r8chlletters
@r8chlletters Жыл бұрын
@@andra9601 yes, it was what they call an x-lap which is an exploratory abdominal with a lateral incision that starts at the pubic bone and goes about 1-2 inches above the belly button. I’m sorry to hear that you need this surgery as the recovery can take a very long time. No one will be honest with you about this but it took me almost 2 years to feel mostly back to normal. Please be sure you get HRT sorted out before you get your procedure done and have plenty of pain meds on hand for the first couple of months. Get your digestive system working well with supplements and diet. There is an Australian lady on KZbin who does yoga for abdominal surgery recovery and that was very helpful but I was not able to do it right away. Walking is good to begin with if you have a walker but you can over do it so talk to your doctor. I qualified for PT to help with chronic neuropathic pain that is common for these large abdominal incisions. Push for what you need. I wish you all the best.

Yes sadly, surgeons have very very limited patient interaction so they don’t really hone that skill, and partially that reason is why a number go into the field because there are those who don’t really like dealing with patients so this job allows them limited patient interactions.

@@gameingpro3788 yeah… I hear that a lot. That happened to once with a surgeon as well, and frankly some doctors too are just shitty. I had a psychiatrist who prescribed me seroquel and after a week on it, it sent me to the hospital because it gave me heart arrhythmia and I lost consciousness and passed out in my bathroom. My husband found me in the morning and thought I was dead. I fell on my right side and cut off blood flow to my right leg which caused massive muscle death and Rhabdomyolysis. I was in there for a week to make sure my kidneys and liver didn’t get overwhelmed. When I had my next appointment my psychiatrist at the time responded to my experience like “oh yeah that’s the most common serious side effect for that medication, happens ALOT.” I’m like, that would have been nice to know a head of time to look out for that particular issue… Yeah. Well I almost died because of that…

I'm thankful for a surgeon who cared. My nurses cared. My primary care doctor sent over a physician to check on me, who worked at the hospital. He hugged me and wished me well as he left and I was being dismissed that same day, he also recommended I was ready to go home after two days in the hospital. I'm glad everything worked out. I removed my ovaries as well. My doctor advised against hormonal replacement it's been said to be connected to different cancers. Also, ladies I'd you have ovaries do know that now that you don't have your tubes there's no way to tell if you come down with ovarian cancer. The tubes is what alerts you that something is wrong with your ovaries. Without it, she generally won't find out until stage 4 that her ovaries are stricken with cancer. By then of course it's too late. Please talk to your doctor. I just dug deep with my questions and my pc is absolutely brilliant and very transparent. You're never lost with him.

I'm coming up on my one year. Had my hysterectomy last year when I was 36. Had them take everything due to brca 1 and cancer running in the family. I'm at the point where I'm really starting to feel like myself again which is awesome. Anxiety was a b****, like I had never experienced before. So much so that Im on medication now. It ciuld be that I used to exercise so much and then I couldnt for a couple months (I had my bilateral mastectomy a week before my hysterectomy so I was recovering for awhile). And because I couldnt hit it as hard, my body and mind really started freaking out on me. I would highly recommend to ladies planning the surgery to find a therapist, and talk to your doc about mental health. I was very fit before the surgery and then stopped doing anything more than walking for a couple months during recovery - so Im having to work my way back up to where i was still. My question is, can a laproscopic hysterectomy salpingo oophorectomy cause your diastatis recti to weaken? Ive noticed more of a pooch in my lower abdomen, and more core feels weak and Im trying to do some exercises that will repair it but is that possible?

This video contains extremely valuable information and I’m thrilled to have found you, Jessica! Thank you!!! I had a total abdominal hysterectomy with bi-lateral salpingo-oophrectomy in June, 2020. A large, mucinous borderline cyst was taken from my right ovary. I’m 56 and was not in great shape before surgery so recovery has been slow! I’m fortunate that my ovarian cancer was detected very early-no chemo necessary!! I’d like to let your viewers know that ANY post-menopausal bleeding is abnormal and is considered to be a sign of cancer until cancer is ruled out by a gynecologic oncologist. From onset of post-menopausal bleeding to hysterectomy surgery was less than 30 days for me because I sought medical care immediately and was taken seriously by my doctors. As a result, my cancer is only Stage 1a. The hardest part of recovery for me has been the fatigue. My energy level is still not where it was pre-op. Best wishes and a healthy recovery journey to all of you wonderful women! 💖

I am 56 also and not in great shape. My story is almosts exactly your story. I had spotting in October, saw my gyn. she sent me to a high risk ob/gyn/oncologist. Biopsy showed no malignancy, and I am having a total hysterectomy in a couple of weeks, including my ovaries. Have you had any hormonal issues since? Or because you were already in menopause there won't be the hormonal issues after removing the ovaries?

@@tammym8165 there are definitely hormonal issues! My hot flashes came roaring back with a vengeance. They’ve lessened in frequency over time but they are brutal when they do come. I’m single, so the sexual aspect isn’t of huge importance right now but I can tell you that vaginal dryness is a problem. If you’re like me, you’ll experience extreme fatigue for 3-4 months. I’m much better now and feel about 90% recovered. The no lifting over 10 lbs sounds ridiculous but unfortunately it’s absolutely correct. I over did it with household chores and went back to work before I should’ve. My vaginal cuff was not healed and bleeding a bit because I didn’t obey that rule. Best wishes and speedy recovery, Tammy. You’ll do well, I’m sure!

I'm on day 6 also from robotic laparoscopy hysterectomy. I also felt more pain the days after also & the severe bloating is terrible. I don't like pain meds but Tylenol or Motrin help alot. Just don't let your pain catch up with you because those incisions get excruciating. Walking is still a slow process for me, maybe from the after effects of anesthesia.

Thank you that was really helpful. I am 60, and because I kept getting polyps and continued irregular bleeding, for past 7yrs, gynaecologist recommended that maybe I should go for hysterectomy. Just the uterus and Fallopian tubes were taken out. I did have constipation for a week, and since I prefer natural form of laxatives so was eating ripe papaya which definitely helped me. I am back to normal now after 2.5 weeks, but I do have bloating issues and whenever I go to the washroom, have pain in the mid/low section of my belly. I don’t see my gynaecologist for another 3 weeks, but I guess I can call my family doc to see what’s going on. The only thing about my family doc she puts her patients on meds right away. As a child always hated meds, and with my mom passing away with liver/ bile duct cancer, everyone in my family now stays away from meds as much as possible. Anything else anyone can recommend here would be great. Preferably natural form of cure. Thanks.

I am 46 and pretty healthy and active. I am 6 days post laparoscopic hysterectomy. Just removed the uterus, kept the ovaries and cervix. Had to get rid of a large fibroid growing by a stalk outside of my uterus and one medium one in the muscle. For surgery, had one very small incision over the bellybutton. I took a Colace stool softener the night after surgery, didn’t need again as I had loose stools for the following 3-4 days. Drank organic coconut water, think that helped stay regular. Ate ultra healthy, clean greens and fruits, loving steamed carrots and rice. Normal bowel movements day 5 and 6. Didn’t realize how painful it would be to get in and out of bed. Ice packs help too. Just taking it easy, getting a little better each day. Day 6 had morning coffee for the first time :)

Hey, I had my hysterectomy back in October of 2022. I’m 40 yrs old and I only got my uterus and cervix removed. My ovaries were fine. They cut my bladder in 2 different places so I had to go home with the Foley catheter for 3 weeks. That was uncomfortable because your bladder has spasms due to a tube being inside of it. But I had to stay in the hospital for 3 days because my surgery started out as laparoscopic but they had to do the c-section cut due to my bladder being right under one of the fibroids I had. I know I had 3 of them and the largest was the size of a large orange. But the very next day I was up and walking. Not like my normal walk, I was moving slow but I had no pain. The nurse gave me my meds on time even if I didn’t have pain to prevent me from eventually having pain. Even when I was taking a nap I told her to make sure to wake me to receive my meds. Being at home after surgery was ok…. I had pain only due to the spasms in my bladder due to having the catheter. I had to see a urologist which was the dr who repaired my bladder during my surgery. He gave me a medication to help with the spasms because they hurt like hell. I was in pain for 2 1/2 hrs before the meds kicked in. So I made sure to take those on time daily so I don’t suffer with that anymore. Other than that I was fine. They removed the foley 3 weeks later. I got a sonogram done on my bladder to make sure all was well. I saw my Gyno atleast 3-4 times after my surgery. The only issue I’m having now is this sharp pain when I urinate and once I pass gas after I urinate the pain goes away. My guess is due to having a empty space there it may be air trapped inside. But I’m no dr so I’m going to see the Gyno Urologist to give me a better understanding of what’s really happening there. Also, the constipation was a bit difficult. I had stool softeners and miralax to help me to move my bowels. The gas was also a killer. That pain was horrible. I started to go for walks outside to help me pass the gas easier being that I went for longer walks outside instead of the few steps inside the house. I feel better today other than the gas like pain when I urinate. I’m glad I got my procedure done. I knew it was time because my cycle was lasting for 15 days each month I had blood transfusions and iron infusions. I was hospitalized twice for having low iron( level 2) and my hemoglobin was 5.5. Also the day of my surgery my cycle began while I was dressed for surgery and I had the IV from anesthesia in. I went to the bathroom and bled on the floor smh 🤦🏾‍♀️. That solidified my decision. I’m glad to be free of that. I hope my comment helps someone. Good luck to you all.

I had a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy last week. One thing that needs to be mentioned is depending on where they cut you, you can have pain that sorta confuses your senses. I have 3 incisions- one at the start of where pubic hair starts to grow, one on the side of my belly and one in my bellybutton. I don't feel the other two so much, but the bellybutton is the absolute worst. It always hurts and it affects everything- sleeping, lounging, dressing, if I over-eat, if the gas/bloat is too much... I can't tell what pain is what so I keep confusing bladder pain with the pain in my midsection and gas. I don't realize I need to go until I try to go and it's like a faucet. I recommend setting a potty schedule if you've experienced something similar. The gas in the shoulder area is a close 2nd in pain- it also dictates how you sleep. I found a resource that said peppermint tea in combo with walking helps relieve gas and deep breathing helps the shoulder pain, but I think even more was needed in my case but thank goodness it did finally clear up last night. I'm slowly learning I can't do it all even the simple things- if nothing else my uterus and now the lack thereof has and is teaching me humility. Mini Rant: I feel like as a whole women need an apology for not being believed or well enough informed about these issues and their treatment. My surgeon said I'd be in and out same day and gave no extra info about what to expect aside from where he'd cut - even told me i could go up my sister's 3 flights of stairs after surgery as long as I took it slow. I'm glad I held off until I moved to have anything done. Leading up to this I found an iceberg of info he left out and I'm not even mad, mainly cuz it's just sad that it's par for the course. I'm finding you pretty much expect to have to don your own white coat and become an expert on your condition, the symptoms, and all the possible treatments and aftereffects so you know what you're getting into cuz you'll rarely ever be fully informed otherwise. Seriously feel like I need some letters on the end of my name after this whole ordeal. None of what I learned from google and youtube came out of any of my doctors mouths, but somehow google and youtube had more reliable info - I mean even a pamphlet would've been appreciated if not good medical advice.

Thanks for this video! I also enjoyed your Prolapse safe exercise video. I'm two weeks out from a total laparoscopic hysterectomy due to some pretty big uterine fibroids. I was super diligent about the stool softeners and fiber every night, and didn't have too much constipation, but oh man the gas pains were the worst! Also, my throat was just so raw from being intubated, it made me cough and that was just horrible. I am a fitness instructor so it has been really difficult for me to not want to jump back into my workouts.

Just for general knowledge ... a partial hysterectomy means they took your uterus but left your cervix. A full hysterectomy means they took your uterus and your cervix. A salpingectomy means they removed your fallopian tubes. A oophorectomy means they removed your ovaries. So, if they removed your uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes, but left your ovaries, you had a total hysterectomy and salpingectomy. If they had removed only your uterus and left the cervix, but removed the fallopian tubes, you had a partial hysterectomy and salpingectomy.

I did the same so I could get a grip literally on my mind body connection. I had a kegel pt who specializes in post partum and It was the BEST decision I made pre op. If anyone reading this has been suffering for years with a fibroid (mine got to 9.2cm melon size) and your debilitating periods are keeping you from a quality of life you deserve and you are being dismissed by a dr (mine were all boomer male gynos who told me to ride it out until menopause) (the fibroid started causing extra problems at age 24 for me …I’m 48 now) and you have chronic leg, back, hip, pain, gerd, incontinence or anemia etc …Do not walk, run as fast as you can to a woman gynaecologist that HEARs you as I was told that is was an unnecessary surgery to endure for so long that I had to be open to a c-section removal when I started with a laparoscopic size Tumor. I did have laparoscopic in the end and it’s been less painful for me then my monthly periods that sometimes lasted 12-20 days a month with pmdd and neuropathy. I would say I was lost in a system and the surgery was VERY necessary indeed. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, research and don’t give up until you feel a bond of trust! Self advocacy is the key to your health! Ty ! I hope this helps someone. I’m 6 days post op and on light meds and already feel more whole than I have in a decade plus. Thank you for this video ! ❤️
