seeding cells: best tool for getting your starts out without damage is a flat spoon handle. Make sure you wet down cells so soil cell comes out as one piece. Spoon does not break, cell does not break, seedling does not break, hand does not break.

I wonder how you Brits prepare your squashes to eat. My favorite for butternut is to roast it, scoop it out and make soup with cocoanut milk, curry, garlic, carrots, etc. Others I just roast with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Not healthy, I know but hey, I'm from Kentucky, US and we know how to add calories to all our food. Love your blog!

I'm not Brit but I'll share my favourite recipe too. Pasta shells (conchiglioni) stuffed with a mixture of spinach, ricotta cheese and roasted butternut. The whole thing is roasted again in the oven, why not with Parmesan cheese on top. Delicious!

Ah so many ways to have it! Totally depends really. When its the Crown Prince i barley do anytjing to it other than roast it, bit of salt, bit of chilli. Because its flavour is unbeatable but yeah soups, in currys, as ravioli. I love it fine diced and fried in rice or baked and covered in butter. Large chunks slow coooked in butter and oil is amazing. Hahaha, i recon it would grow. It grows well in Yorkshire (where the guy who had the seed was). Its a funny one, it tastes like a cucumber/courgette/green pepper hybrid. Has massive woody seeds so they need to be scraped out. I tend to fine slice them and just throw them in willy-nilly for bulking stuff up. I use them in quesadilla fried up with onions.... so good!
