I don't know why the Russians didn't go after their domestic industries. The capital they gave to Western countries to buy airplanes could have updated their air industry. It's really a pity.😢

One of the key reasons are lack of investments in 90’s and lobbying of boeing and airbus which basically motivated to stop investments in domestic industry and just purchase planes from them.

it's because of capitalism. Putin complained Aeroflot was buying Western planes but couldn't force them to. Now with the sanctions we'll see the Russian passenger aircraft sector start up again. The Il96-400m, Tu214, and Sukhoi superjet are not the most impressive neither fuel efficient planes. But it's a start, and they can catch up.

Because modern Russia focused on military and imperial expansion. They almost abandoned their commercial aircraft industry and technology. They now got great bombs and jet fighters but are incapable to build a decent car. Priorities! And as a result a highly sanctioned country with a very dark future.

World doesn’t revolve around west, which is what a lot of countries understand but afraid to admit. Speaking of the west, isn’t west ambitiously imperialistic? Look what west has done with the whole world. With the globalists at the yoke, west enslaved everyone with its financial system. With a push of button, west can bring weaker countries to its knees. Russia isn’t one of them. They have their own minds and technologies. Yes, they are a bit behind, but they will be improved upon in due time. Finally, what is west going to do when everyone turns away? That process has already started.

A solid, Well designed airframe as the Il-86 and 96 has had very few hull losses but it is going to be thirsty fuel wise with 4 previous generation engines.

Knowing what I know about the lack of quality, culture and structure of both China and Russia, I would never fly in any of these planes. However, I think diversifying airline manufacturers is a good idea. I would recommend other countries over these two.

Brand new Russian passenger plane meet Boeing 1980s plane and Airbus 1990s plane. There is no comparison. The engine has radically higher fuel burn and a lot less range than A350 or Boeong 777. It is an improvement for the aircraft manufacturer, but Russianplanese have always been behind the time, and this is no different. It may be more comfortable, but no profitable airline will buy this.
