Zahir Muhsein was a Palestinian leader of the pro-Syria As-Sa'iqa Ba'athist faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization between 1971 and 1979. In an interview with Trouw Magazine, 31. March 1977 he stated....."The Palestinian people do not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism. Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity exists only for tactical reasons. The establishment of a Palestinian state is a new tool to continue the fight against Israel and for Arab unity. Hamas Minister of the Interior and of National Security Fathi Hammad, aired by Al-Hekma TV on March 23, 2012. Stated..... .....we all have Arab roots, and every Palestinian, in Gaza and throughout Palestine, can prove his Arab roots - whether from Saudi Arabia, from Yemen, or anywhere. We have blood ties. Personally, half my family is Egyptian. We are all like that. More than 30 families in the Gaza Strip are called Al-Masri ["Egyptian"]. Brothers, half of the Palestinians are Egyptians and the other half are Saudis. Who are the Palestinians? We have many families called Al-Masri, whose roots are Egyptian. Egyptian! They may be from Alexandria, from Cairo, from Dumietta, from the North, from Aswan, from Upper Egypt. We are Egyptians. We are Arabs.

Barnaby is definitely one of the good guys who have always stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people, as he knows what’s fair and what’s unjust. There are many Jewish people who share his views, but sadly they get demonised by some of their own community and labelled as self hating Jews. Being opposed to Zionism doesn’t make someone anti-semetic, plus you don’t have to be Jewish to be a Zionist. Judaism should never ever be conflated with Zionism as they’re two completely different things. Judaism is a religion, whereas Zionism is a nationalist political ideology.

Zionism is a political ideology, Judaism is a religion, Jews are a race of people of a particular faith & Israel is the country in which they live - so you can have an Israeli Jew whose govt is Zionist. Wendy, it is a hypocrisy. Zionism is very simple - it believes that there is a place in the world for a single Jewish state - one of the smallest in the world. The one who accepts Jews (and their non-Jewish family members) from any place in the world. And it also a home for 2 million Arab citizens. As to the governments - the Islamists like Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad etc. don't accept the existence of the Jewish state, whatever the ideology of its government. BRILLIANT! I have hope for the world when I hear young people with his passion who's able to articulate and educate others in this manner. He verbalized Exactly what I've come to understand & believe at a deep level, especially since 7/10. One cannot be free when one holds a weapon in one's hand and needs a 'safe room' in which to flee to at the first sound of thunder. I'd only read about how the white farmers in South Africa lived with 'safe rooms', but I was unaware that the Israelis had such deep-seated fears that they needed 'safe rooms'. What price is their 'freedom'? It's certainly now what I call freedom! These Zionists haven't been liberated in 'their own land' of Israel. They're also living in a prison because they share the same walls as the Palestinians, only their side of the wall just has greater privilege & freedoms, but they are still living within a wall. Until they, and every other people can live in peace with their neighbours without walls, no-one will truly be free. The need for a wall means that there's a fear of someone else encroaching upon, or taking what one has. This type of insecurity isn't freedom, it's fear, it's fear of ones' neighbours, no matter how near or distant they may be. Until we can all live as we choose without fear, either for ourselves, or causing others to fear, none of us will live as we should. Many seem to forget that we are all the one race, the human race ... & we also forget that we all bleed red, we each come into the world naked, and one day we will each return to the earth the same way. There are no pockets in shrouds, and no matter how powerful one has been in life, no amount of power can force one's heart to pump when one's last breath has been taken. Universal freedom is the Goal, but unfortunately the greedy & those who need power to soothe their egos, it's these people who will constantly be the cause of people needing walls, even if it is to keep those people out. How does one stop the greedy & those who need to be powerful?

Barnaby Raine, you are an inspirational young man. I feel ‘You are standing on the shoulders of giants’ and with that comes great responsibility. I was feeling a bit down today due to the continued threats and sabre rattling from those in power. They are supposed to lead us yet they appear to show little or no regard to the consequences of their behaviour on all of us. As a grandmother, I have began to wonder what sort of world will my grandchildren inherit or will it even exist for them to share willingly, love and enjoy life ? We need young men like you, with a strong moral compass and a humanitarian soul. Keep up the good work. Wow this was outstanding 👏 Barnaby is a fantastically passionate and articulate man. If more people just had his logic and awareness the world would be incredible. Barnaby for PM ! I also found similarities between Barnaby and myself becoming politicised at young ages but of our own initiative rather than family/ school teaching us! I felt completely lost at times with my peers. I was 9 when I saw the news showing the Irish hunger strikers of H Block and questioning my dad as to why Thatcher was allowing people to die? I couldn't get my head round it. I started reading about Irish history then that was me awakened and horrified ( my great great grandfather was an Irish immigrant from The Great Hunger ( ethnic cleansing by Brits) ....learnt about Palestine in my teens and nothings changed. Animal Farm too for me. I became fascinated by Rasputin??! . Trotsky, Lenin.... I abhor the British establishment from top to bottom. We URGENTLY need a Barnaby for British Muslims. Especially for South Asians like Mr Patel. Listen to Barnaby's wider philosophy, not just what he says about Palestine. It's all linked. In the face of global injustice and exploitation, worshipping comfort and material wealth in the West does NOT work. Whether the injustice is Palestine or labour exploitation or the racism of global inequality that forces our people to migrate. Hustling to become landlords, investors or overpaid professionals is the problem not the solution. We need to educate ourselves to see how these kinds of life decisions help produce the structures of oppression that we claim to oppose. It doesnt matter if you never miss salah and follow the sunnah to a t. Anything other than commitment to undo these structures is a road to spiritual death and enslavement by the nafs
