I love how you get down to business without a bunch of chatter. The template is an excellent idea. Simple loops are often not simple. Thank you for all your videos and I am so glad you are here for us beaders.

Absolutely beautiful Jill! This is one of my pet peeves. 😹so many just turn the wire around and most of the time it’s oval shape. It’s the follow through with your pliers that makes the difference. Thank you for showing the proper way to make a loop! 💝🥰🤗

Thank you for teaching this way to make same sized loops. I have been beading for a few years but didn’t think about doing it this way. I love your videos and have learned so much from you.

Thank you, Jill !! ❤ We can always rely on you for excellent beading tips - and this is a great idea!! I wish I'd known this about 10 years ago, LOL!! But you're so right in that you do eventually just learn to eyeball it. Practise makes perfect : ) Happy beading, everyone!

I love thé idea of using a template! Here is another idea: a long time ago I saw a video where the maker used another bead as a template. She worked out what length of wire she needed for a standard loop, then found a bead with that diameter. (Remember to choose something distinctive and keep it in a safe place when you aren’t using it!) She then slipped the (wooden) bead down the wire until it sat on top of the bead to be looped, then snipped off the wire just above the top of the wooden/template bead. Remove the wooden/template bead and ta da! You have a consistent length every time! You can mark up the pliers in exactly the way that Jill did. I’ve used this technique ever since.

Hi Jill. Great video. Have you ever used a flat piece of metal shaped like a rectangle but of the exact width of the length you showed? If you had several of them in different widths they could be used over and over for all of your projects. They could have the width written or engraved on them ie. 1/2” or like 15 mm. A personal engraver could be used to permanently etch the measurements… they’d only need to be maybe 2 to 4 inches long. And they could be stored in a small metal tin for future use without using a wire?

Hi there! What gauge wire did you use? And thank you so much. I don’t know why I have so many problems with making loops. You clearly explained every step, and the why behind it. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Now I know! 🥰

Another way to make the template instead of marking the wire would be to bend the wire at the length you want...then there's something to hold onto, yet it's easier to see the length you want.
