My friend, whilst I completely agree with this sentiment (and I really do): TK won’t listen to minds in the business with a cumulative of over 100 years booking experience booking between them. This includes (whether you like these people or not, for some) Jim, Ric Flair, Jeff Jarrett and JR. You also have Dean Malenko, DDP, Billy Gunn, Tony Shivani (if he would actually use his proper brain), Taz, DDP and others who have had experience in WWE and/or creative and/or training younger talent in wrestling and/or putting a match together. He won’t listen to them, so I don’t think he reads anything unless it’s ‘OMG THANX TK, UR THA GR8ST’ (sorry, I feel dumber just typing that last bit now 😂).

I live in Michigan and I actually went to the first dynamite in Detroit, but I can tell you they do 0 fucking local advertising. They don't put anything in the local news, nothing on the radio, nothing at the local sports games. The Detroit Tigers had a WWE night last year in June to advertise summerslam, and they even had Otis and Gable there.

I live in the Charlotte area and wwe still runs ads here when tickets are on sale and as the show gets closer. Does wwe need to do that? Probably not since they've been around for decades but they still do. Why arw doesn't try to do that is beyond me. Hell, I got a Facebook ad for a tna show in Spartanburg, SC next weekend that I'm considering going to because of that ad! Tk needs to actually advertise! @@NotAdultingToday I work between NYC/Philadelphia/NJ and Allentown/Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (DunderMifflinsburg) PA... since I have a work truck with a crew, I keep on mainstream radio stations: Once a month, at a minimum, you'll hear adverts (like, all day, sprinkled in the programming) for a Live Event, RAW, Smackdown, etc. They get billboards for the big events like when they did WM at Giant Stadium or MetLife or whatever tf it is now. Brian mentioned NY market TV with AEW ads; yes, they're there. However, in Northeastern PA and Western NJ [where they've ran shows in Bethlehem], their radio adverts are 15/30 sec spots and ran maybe 1 time on a big station. Slack game.

@@maxpayne7312 The first year of RAW were in places like Manhattan Center, but also little buildings like Burlington, VT's Memorial Auditorium (went to the no-rope sumo tapings in this timeframe... it couldn't have held more than 2k in that place, it's tiny), or that gym in Worcester or the old lodge in the Poconos. Other than Manhattan, most of the first year of RAW were in arenas that, compared to Daily's Places look & set up, were rinky-dink and minor league. It's probably all Tony's ego.

Brian made a great point. Too many times, we've seen people in AEW just vanish for weeks. Even months. With little to no explanation. So you don't know what you're gonna get when you buy tickets. In WWE, you know you're gonna see the big stars. Cody, Punk, Mcintyre, Rhea, LA Knight, etc. That's why fans are more comfortable spending money with WWE. Even for house shows.

I saw my first live show at Rupp Arena in 2001. The main event was Austin vs Rock. 24,000 packed in for a house show. If only I knew just how lucky I was to witness history. Lexington is my hometown so Ive seen many shows over the years. From tv tapings to ppvs but its hard to top that first one lol.

Born and raised in East Kentucky. Lived in Lexington the last two decades. Wrestling is not as popular here as it use to be but WWE can still roll in and sell 10,000 tickets in a 20,000 seat arena for a hot show or angle. And they don't advertise much more than AEW does. AEW is just not a strong product right now. Which is a bummer to me. Yes, like so many, I can't stand AEW's booking, but I want them to succeed. I want as many places as possible where talent can work live TV and make a good check. My hope is, eventually, Tony will bring in a seasoned booker. But, like so many others, I just doubt that will happen.

I was at the show. I've been going to events at Rupp Arena for over thirty years and I said "wow" when I saw all of the tarped off sections and empty seats. I've never seen it look that empty for a show airing nationally. The ticket I got was certainly affordable (less than $20 for a good seat) so it wasn't the prices.

I don't understand it... Almost every city; even small to mid-sized; has a minor league hockey arena with 3k-6k seats that would look much better on TV mostly full, than a giant space with barely enough people in it it fill one side.

Here's the thing, I use to love AEW. I watched from their first ppv, still wear the merch I bought years ago, and the only wrestling show Ive been to was an AEW Dynamite in Atlanta when Cody Rhodes faced Wardlow in a steel cage match. It was a childhood dream come true and from what I can remember, I had a good time. Looking back on it, a lot of it wasn't that good, I think I just wanted to like it more than anything. But still, I have a soft spot and to see them fall so far so fast is a little heartbreaking. It's fun to dunk on them, but I really hope they can turn things around and make it a good product once more.

The thing that kills me right now is how they're accusing WWE of stealing Mercedes Moan ideas with Megan Thee Stallion. I'm sure that, within the 6 days she mentioned Megan and the new Smackdown theme, that they were able to contact her, compose the song, produce the song, produce the video, and everything else that went into what I would assume was a big dollar contract between WWE and her. OVW, GCW, and Corny doing a seminar on his thoughts on outlaw mudshow bullshit could put more asses in seats than an AEW live event at this point. I was at the STL show when they were here and it was rough. The fans didn't care unless it was something that would get them attention (fuck you chants, etc) and the super mega ultra contract talent had less of a pop than most NXT midcarders. If you can't get the St. Louis wrestling crowd into something, there's a problem. Fucking Billy Corgan gets NWA over in St. Louis.

One thing l don’t see discussed about these small crowds relative to the huge size of the arenas, is the negative effect it must have on fans! It must be pretty embarrassing and deflating to be there, surrounded by miles and miles of empty plastic, especially being strategically seated in certain segments of the building so they can try to shoot it as if it’s full. I’m sure that results in people not going again, with the attendances falling everywhere they go. At least move everybody closer around all sides then black off the seating behind everybody? That would look better, be a better atmosphere and a better experience for fans surely? But they don’t even do that, because clearly they are far more interested in trying to falsely pass them off as massive crowds, and demand the fans be in on this ridiculous scam, than make the live experience better for the actual fans actually attending.
