Yeah it was an hour and seventeen minutes. I listened to some of it, thinking it would be like the interview Ariel did with HHH which was really good because HHH was pretty open all things considered. But I made it about 15 minutes in before I accepted that TK was never going to answer anything, continue going on and on with no answers and just spend the entire time promoting whatever show was coming up at the time. And seeing the clip recaps from it I now know that I made a good decision. TK really needs to get a solid PR person to either coach him, handle this stuff for him or both because he came off like such a goof with this.
@Matt-cr4vv2 жыл бұрын
And I believe the show he spent the entire interview promoting ended up going down like 15% from the prior week and was the lowest Rampage rating since July. Here’s to hoping (although it won’t happen) that TK eventually learns that nobody gives a shit about Battle of the Belts for a company that has overloaded the show with belts and done nothing substantial to make any of them outside of the AEW World Title mean something. And even the AEW Title isn’t because of something he did but more so just because of how great Mox has been.

I genuinely couldn't believe so many people were defending Tony Khan's performance here. A reporter is supposed to push. That's what they're for. Just last week I was reading an interview in El Pais where a Spanish politician gave the same non-answer six or seven times and the reporter kept circling back until she gave the paper something concrete. That's how an interview is supposed to go. It's not like Helwani is asking about personal family matters here. He just wanted Tony on record about the company Tony is supposedly the boss of.

Jim is right. If you’re on a show like this, work the interviewer. Get over some storylines. The fact that he refused to talk about MJF’s contract situation was a massive missed opportunity. MJF has been talking about it and he’s worked everyone, including Ariel Helwani. Tony needs to talk with MJF and get some tips on working journalists.

Ariel is much better as a Wrestling reporter than as an MMA reporter. He loves gossip and drama, that puts off some of the MMA purists, but makes him the perfect Wrestling journalist. Feed him stuff that is rooted in reality that you wanna turn into a work. But the forbidden dork, aka booker of the year, is like a deer in headlights when someone asks actual questions and isn't just on his payroll (or getting sucked off by the Bucks and Omega).
@Matt-cr4vv2 жыл бұрын
TK from the outside looking in is a guy who could easily have been seen as the lovable underdog all this time but has taken essentially every action he can to kill that being possible. The people who work for him seem to really like him (at least publicly) but he is just awful at PR as it applies to himself. For example in this interview a lot of things he wouldn’t talk about most reasonable people can understand why he’d avoid discussing. But he goes really far to where he refuses to provide any kind of answer when there are various aspects he could answer without addressing the aspects that carry legal risk to him and his company. Example he could confirm that he didn’t extend MJF but not say how much he paid him. He could come off as the good guy by saying “he’s out performed his deal so we gave him a raise” rather than refusing to address it. He just comes off as such a lum in how he refuses to answer any aspect of anhthing. And to reiterate a lot of the stuff he refuses to address I can get. There are legal risks that surround it and not addressing it makes sense. But if you knew ahead you weren’t going to answer anhthing then he should’ve communicated that to Ariel. Because it was such a waste of an interview to hear him dodge every single question of substance surrounding anything, even things that aren’t really risks like Bray Wyatt or Cody. And all he did was promote the upcoming events and it made him look like a real douche bag because most people recognize that promotion is going to happen but we expect a natural give and take which TK didn’t do. And I think the event he was promoting this entire time ended up doing some of the lowest ratings of the year so he looked like a complete goof and it didn’t even pay off with increased ratings. But if I had never heard of AEW and saw this interview it would make me not want to watch the show. Wonder if it had any negative impacts since Rampage ratings seem to just suck in general to begin with.

I live in the UK. WWE is broadcast on BT Sport, a premium paid sports channel comparable to ESPN in the US. AEW shows air on ITV4, a free TV channel that also broadcasts cult classic movies, classic action series' from the 60s, 70s and 80s, as well as a number of sporting events such as Horse Racing, Darts, Snooker and some less high profile Boxing and Football/Soccer matches. It's a fringe channel and Dynamite is broadcast at 1am UK time. If they get more than 10,000 viewers a week, I'd be amazed, every single one of which are already wrestling fans who have to actively seek it out.
