@@attiepollard7847 Shawn Michaels was a bully a trouble maker and a weasel back then, everyone says how much of a nightmare he was back then including himself and the other members of the click all say he was a POS. He used his influence to destroy people's careers get them fired, stop thier push and even sleep with people's wives (Sunny and Chris) but in Jim Cornette he picked on the wrong one. I don't think the original commentator said anything about who was to blame. @@michaellandon1960 Shawn didn't draw much money compared to other top championship main eventers, but even if he did it doesn't matter you don't let anybody bully you and Cornette told him where to go, Brett kicked Shawns ass, the Harris brothers give him a roughing up, the guy was a nightmare. I don't care if he was drawing Hogan, Austin or Rock type money (which he definitely wasnt) you don't treat people like that. You think the Rock talked to people like that? Wow, I was at the Cow Palace show in SF he mentioned in 1996. I was 9 years old, I was with my best friend at the time, his mom drove us. My parents were going through a messy divorce at the time so money was scarce, but my friend's mom was almost a second mom to me during that time, buying us the zebra HBK hats, Bret Hart glasses and an Undertaker t-shirt. I still have the HBK hat. She passed away about 4-5 years ago. Sad but I will always remember those times when she took us to Cow Palace, paid for my tickets, bought us stuff, rented wrestling tapes every weekend, etc. Amazing person.

@@adamski9184 I'll say this, the Shawn Michaels of 1996 and 1997 is definitely as great a worker as the guys I mentioned, I just never thought he was as good as he was in 96 and 97 before those years or after he returned from his back injury, Shawn was great in his peak, I just don't think he was even close to being the greatest of all time outside of that time frame Pre 96 Michaels is weirdly soft on offense, low on variety and his hokey selling hasn't graduated past being a poor imitation of Curt Hennig, while post injury Michaels, which everybody seems to praise as his best run, has Michaels trying to create these self conscious epic performances, but his wrestling is kinda bad, his loss of physical mass makes it even less believable, and he has these weird quirks that annoy me like the worst Flair chops I've ever seen, and constantly missing moonsaults that his opponents still sell like they've been hit If the Shawn Michaels of 1996 and 1997 was what I saw from Shawn for most of his career, I could understand the praise, as it is, I don't get it...the guys I mentioned were very consistent for most of their careers, if not their whole career And Foley is underrated, great seller, great bumper, great characters, great talker, really good striker, solid offense...and he actually had some decent wrestling skills, probably less honed than other greats, but for a guy who's gimmick was that he was a masochistic hardcore legend or "garbage wrestler" as Flair put it, when Foley showed off some of his mat skills, he did a good job

Put JR, cornett and cm punk I'm charge and theyll bring back pro wrestling. You'll see some exciting shit. We will once again be entertained by wrestling on tv. Even get jerry lawler involved in some way too. Bring on king as a manager. Kings never managed before and I think he should come to AEW as a manager, advisor and do a little bit of commentary. But mostly managing and doing promos and taking part in the physical part of it bc I know that's what king loves.

Yeah it's the original. Conrad has a huge collection of wrestling stuff. If you look in the back he's got a bunch of gear like boots, he has one of vaders masks, a bunch of belts, a big collection of Ric Flair's robes etc. He said he didn't even get the robes from Ric Flair being his father in law. There's a story behind them getting on the market being his ex wives selling them, getting left behind in the locker room, lost in the airport. He has a video clip from 83 weeks where he talks about his collection you should check out.

As usual, there is fault on both sides. Corny's opinion that Shawn was a complete prick in the mid '90s has been echoed many times, including by HBK himself. That said, JC's complaining about the more irreverent way Michaels began doing things is simply out of touch with what wrestling audiences were crying out for at that time.
@DoctorEviloply

There's a difference between being an Irreverent character and being an irreverent person. HBK didn't care about the business. He just wanted to show himself off and get wanked off for it. Contrast to the Rock. Very irreverent character. Consummate professional doing business. It's not the character at fault it's the person.
@azapro911
@azapro911 2 жыл бұрын
That the same Rock who casually buried anybody he feuded with on the mic? Didn't always have to, did it to keep getting himself over - and with huge entertainment value, no doubt. Whenever the likes of Cornette and Bret Hart comment on '96-'97 Shawn, it just seems as though they didn't like him having the kind of popularity and backstage stroke they and their friends once enjoyed. Same thing with the Horsemen towards the nWo at that time.

WWF was at it lowest peak when Bret was champ. I can name 50 better technicians, but HBK was a master in the ring, so was Eddie. But Shawn was having 5 star matches before Eddie even became mainstream and Eddie is easily on my top 3 all time. Kurt is a timeless talent, but what that gotta do with HBK. What HBK delivered in the 90s was the perfect set up for the attitude era for Austin/Rock. HBK delivered on more Wrestlemanias. not sure if you forgot. Bret is great, but his WCW run was depressing. TBH WWF made Bret a hit and once he left he didn't draw as much as his peak, during a time people considered WWF at it's lowest. Also, HBK delivered tons of storylines and this is sports entertainment. Bret wasn't good in terms of acting or the mic skills. In the ring, he was a god. HBK is respected for legit reasons.
