Skippy will sleep good tonight with all of his energy used up running thru the snow. The team looks great. Lady is getting rounder with her baby. Bree is growing so fast and she is so beautiful. Duke and Earl are looking good. Jim please stay safe out in the woods by yourself. God bless and keep safe both of you and William.

It's been a roller coaster ride with the temps here in West Michigan. Over all it's been a warmer than usual winter. We taped some of the maples yesterday for syrup. We could have taped a couple weeks ago but didn't. Bree is looking beautiful and I agree she does look like Lady. Great job to both of you I liked both equally.

Southern New Brunswick Canada has been experiencing an extremely open winter so far. I really appreciate You sharing the activity around the farm with Brenda and William and then up Paul Smith College Woods with Jim, Baron and Bill. Your so right Brenda Bree is really starting to resemble her mother Lady. It would be great if Lady's future foal would possibly be a Filly. So eventually have 2 Suffolk Punch/ Belgian Cross full sisters.

Last year the temps were unusually cold this time of year in Southwest Washington. This year we've had a mild winter for the most part. The box elm and stink bugs might be bad in the coming spring. Switching between Jim and Brenda was really wonderful! It was great seeing Bree and I had to admire the boys for protecting her from 'big bad' Skippy! ❤

Horses for courses! You are very blessed to be able to have William. Twice as much work is getting done and twice as many horses being used and worked daily. It is really only about 120 yrs since the motor car was invented, before which the horse was man's main mode of transport. God gave us the horse, neatly contrived for riding or pulling, a nice spot for sitting on and even a gap between incisors and molars where the bit lays in the mouth. The perfect animal for the job. Consider the work the horses got when without a horse, people had to walk. They thrive on work, always improving towards old age. Kept in regular work they generally do better than those left to fend for themselves. A beautiful video, Jim's days logging are providing an income, while William and Brenda carry on with daily farm jobs. I am wondering how far William must drive his buggy, morning and evening? Greetings from Australia.

Our weather so far, this winter was warmer milder less precipitation until 2 weeks ago. We've got a snow storm that lasted all weekend and we get over a 150 cm of snow out of that 1 storm. Then following up, we got another storm of about 15 cm. In another storm of about 10 cm this week. Now, this week coming at the end of the week on Friday. They're calling for rain

Lol! Nice video! As a retired farrier I appreciate spending cold winter days reading Charles Dickens novels and attending college basketball games. Years and years of trimming and shoeing horses in backyards and snowbanks in winter (not everyone has a nice warm barn to work in!) with frozen fingers and being slapped in the frozen face with frozen tails makes my cozy recliner and college gyms more enticing!

I think that winter has been strange everywhere this season. In Alaska, we've had record-breaking snowfall, record cold temperatures, and early warm weather in February (usually one of our coldest months!). In the part of Alaska where I live, South Central, we've had over a hundred inches of snowfall. Normally it would be more like 5' or so and that doesn't count what the mountains got! The weather has just been all over the place. Normally I like winter but I was over it back before Christmas. I enjoy your content and love watching the horses work and how your and Jim interact with them.

Here in the snow-belt of Northeast Ohio, we only have 2 seasons....winter and mud! So far this winter..the mud is winning--which is messy for the horses and the humans! Good job Jim clearing the pasture. My Dad would turn the pigs loose in that pasture and they would go through and root up all the roots they are like little plows and they love it. Then the nice grass comes in for the cattle and horses. Looks like you cleared a good few acres there, good work , I know you'll get it in good shape. Cottonwood branches can be tuff to burn too in our rainy season, I take a 5 gal bucket or 2 and hatchet the bucket full of dry cutoffs from my reclaim, then get a good fire going with that split kindle, then add the cottonwood branches, once i get a decent base, then i can burn wet wood all night. But yeah, that initial start can be a bear if i am not too serious going into it. Be careful you do not scortch your scraper seals on your cylinders on your backhoe (excavator) with that heat going straight up! Maybe stay off to the side a little out of the heat chimney. The seals will scorch pretty easily. Nice pasture coming along. Carry on. (32° and the wind is really gusty, usually wind for us means warm).

PG here. I look forward to all your videos. This was the most unique! Love seeing and watching Bree's growth. I have been waiting all winter for the roller to come out to fatten out the trail. Nothing you can do about the weather unless you know someone who is controlling it. How are the swine? We keep 4 ourselves a smaller breed. Love to see how they are growing. I assume they are twice as big as the last time. I love it when Brenda films and Jim does the logging. I have to say Jim's videos were OK but short. However. Both were thoroughly enjoyable. None of this is criticism but the Highest of Praise. Qiet the variety show.

Hi Your California correspondent has had a fairly typical winter season. We are in the middle of a rain period since about Friday or Saturday we've had 3.5" of rain. Typically here in the western US if we get 10 days of rain it is enough to fill reservoirs. Lake Shasta being the largest in California needs more than that to fill it. And Lake Mead on the Colorado River is so low after so much drought, we'll just have to see if it will ever be normal again. And back to you in Northern New York.

Here in Midcoast Maine, our winter has been similar to yours. It'll get warm enough to make mud which will then freeze, then turn back to mud, etc. More of the ponds and lakes are finally freezing, so there,s been more ice fishing going on finally. We've really only had three plowable storms this year. But March and sometimes April will kick our butts with lots of storms. I would just love some warmer weather and can't wait to change the clocks next month!

It's summer here in Brisbane, Australia. The weather bureau announced an El Nino event from late last year, which typically means dry and drought, but it's rained basically every day since. Humid, sticky, hot weather is too be expected here, but there's been no relief from it this year, like being in a sauna since before Christmas! Our night time minimum temperatures have barely dropped below 23°C for two months. I can't wait for our autumn!

Our winter has been warm. We've had some snow a couple of times. The first week of december and january were cold. Temperatures were roundabout zero Celsius in the daytime. February has been wet so far. Maybe we'll get a cold spell. It's quite changable weather here. That's normal for The Netherlands. But sometimes we have a longer period of cold weather, freezing at daytime for a week, so that we can skate on canals and ponds. The last 10 years I ' ve only been skating once. It' s the warming of the climate! Thanks for the video! See ya! Greetings, Fred

Hello Jim and Brenda from our New Hampshire farm. The boys are out logging. I ventured out to do a few groceries and the wind nearly blew me across the parking lot. We do have some ice fishing on Webster Lake. I enjoy watching William rolling the snow. Jim's horses are well trained. The woods over at the college is beautiful. Brenda I meant to ask you if you have a kitchen wood stove? I can't imagine not having our Home Comfort ( 1930) that is snapping and popping away this afternoon. My brother-in-law has the family Glenwood in his kitchen. We are keeping as many of the ' old ways' as possible. Its nice to have both the Home Comfort and our propane stove NH has received less snow and more ice and rain storms. I miss a good dry powder snow fall. ~ Diane

We had cold weather then a dusting of snow, next came lots and lots of rain and gray dreary skies, then came a beautiful snow of maybe 4-5" blue skies and 5 days of thick, dry lofty snow. Then a day or two of rain. Then very warm weather. Lastly this President's weekend, 3-4 " of dry snow but after a day, almost all gone -40's.

It has above normal temps with very little snowfall this winter in North Central Minnesota. Maple tree sap is already running for the syrup producers. Winter ice fishing is not good. Very unsafe on the ice. The bad thing about that is there will probably be a fire danger this spring and summer. Your days must be exciting for both of you. Never knowing what will happen with all of your livestock. Looks like you have a good man in William. He seems to be able to take charge. This was a very good video that you presented. The weather here in Florida has Ben pretty much like last year. Last year the freeze killed my sugar cane, pineapple and papaya plants and regular garden plants. Well this year it did it again just about the time they were maturing. It usually takes about two years because even a mild winter makes them dormant and then the second year they take off. The answer is the last two years have been colder but not longer. I have been paying attention to all of the people I follow, Pennsylvania, NewYork,Ohio, Tennessee, Mississippi.

Bree is so beautiful! I love her blonde mane and tail!! Lady is showing she's in foal more this time than she did with Bree I think. Her belly is big and round!😘 You all got quite a bit of snow. I noticed the new shutters right away! William has done a beautiful job making them!👍 Here in northeast Tennessee, our winter has been very mild so far. Early in December we had about 5 inches of snow and that's all. I hope we don't get anymore than that the rest of winter. Our temps have ranged for low 50s to upper 60s for the highs during mid January and thus far in February. It's been so nice! My daffodils are even starting to bloom!!!

Here in SW Ohio we have a very warm winter for the most part. Some pretty snow yesterday but it’s supposed to warm up again this week.

Here in the Northeast Ohio area we really haven't had a lot of snow, but where we live we aren't in the snow belt. We've had periods of steady rainfall off and on and I'd say above average temps. Overall a mild winter as far as temperatures go it gets seasonably cold, but then we get warm ups that are definitely not seasonable. Early Spring for sure!

Thank you for another nice video. Winter here in Iowa has been very warm with hardly any snow. Had snow in January but it’s all gone now.

I really love this video. I enjoy all aspects of farming with horses. I had thought of adding that I enjoyed watching the horses being brought home and undressed, fed, and put to bed. I especially enjoyed Brenda's brushing them and her comments. I really enjoyed the long day in the woods with the Paul Smith students and instructors' comments. More, please. As to our winter....it is odd. Mostly mild but 2 hard freezes...(what we dread) because it kills our orange trees and tropicals unless we take extreme measures. It also freezes our water pipes unless we take measures to protect them. Our last year was not so good as to rain. We had no rain for 8 weeks. Old established 40-foot❤❤❤ magnolias succumbed unless they were on watering systems. So sad. I await seeing whether any can recover this spring. Our last freeze day is on Ave 3/7. Most have already planted potatoes as the earliest planting date is said to be Valentines. Our July and August are blazing hot. Most vegetables can barely survive, let alone produce. We can plant second season or winter garden mid-August. Potatoes, beans, carrots, leeks, and greens like musterd, collard, kale, broccoli, cabbage, and turnip. ❤❤❤

I love your shutters!! 😊 Skippy is really getting big!! He has so much energy! I suppose it's invigorating with the snow!! 😂 I didn't know cherry trees were poisonous to horses! Wow! It's beautiful in the woods! It's fun going back & forth between both places!! I love your cabin area! The snow does make it magical! Awww...Bree! 💖 It's great she has her uncles to keep company with while the others are all out working! Haha! Jim, what you're doing is exciting!! I love the woods, too! In Minnesota we have a bit of snow, but it'll all be gone soon with the 40° weather coming up!! Strange winter so far! 💕

I think it's the leaves that are poisonous, not the wood.

Asking about the weather. I live in Washington State and our winter has been actually mild. We had a little snow couple weeks ago but it melded right off and we're now just having our spring rain so staying pretty nice.

Southeast Wisconsin has had a warmer than usual winter. No real snow until January. Then a week where we had two snow storms that left us about two feet of snow. Then a week of below zero weather. And since then it’s been in the 30’s and 40’s. Even some 50’s! My flowers are confused. The daffodils have poked their heads out. It’s a little early for them. At this point I myself am over winter and looking forward to spring.

I don't need to comment on our weather now, since I'm from Beloit, WI. 😁 It's 56 today, and sunny, so it sure feels like Spring is on the way. My daffodils poked up yesterday, too.

i am in south central Missouri. We had about a week of zero weather in January. Before that it was mild. Since then we have had mostly in the fifties, a few days in the sixties and every now and then we hit 70. Very little snow no but the ground is damp as we had several rains of a quarter inch or less and a few where we got a half inch and never any more than that. For the last week or two I have been seeing new growth in my lawns. So all in all a much milder winter than normal.

Brenda, down here in Wayne County which is smack in the middle between Rochester and Syracuse, we have been almost identical to what's on your video. I have also been doing things outside. Right around the change of months I was checking my mower to get it ready. Then it dropped so low the dog was doing her business right off the deck and back in

I won't pass judgement on the question, but I certainly enjoy seeing the snow which we hardly ever get here in NW Missouri, and then only shortly. I haven't seen any videos about sleigh rides back to the cabin, though, yet this winter, but I know you made preparations.
