It's easy to type critical stuff on you tube and the net without having to prove yourself better. I for one thank you for this and your lessons. I know I will never be as good as most people at playing guitar but it's kind folk like you that give me the chance to learn something I love. When I play it, even badly, my friends still recognise it and as long as we all keep playing the great man's music he will never truly die. Thanks again

you need to ignore thos youtube losers who just want to hate everybody else's videos.. I bet 99,9% of people talking shit never played an instrument before and have no clue of the work, dedication and talent needed to play like this.

You can't tell if a song is played with soul or not, this is a great cover, i personally differ with the guitar gear chosen, but it's still an awesome performance which may help thousands of young guitar players to understand a little bit more about this guitar genious we lost time ago, the master of avant gardre, hendrix itself. And you don't need to get drunk or your heart broken. It's just love what gives soul to great performances

It has to be said that this is a teaching aid and as such demonstrates each part clearly and expertly - I dont think Carl would play it like that in a live performance situation but when you are teaching it needs to be clean and accurate - However there are plenty of other tutorials here but if you want to check out a particular lick within the song you could do worse than check out this tutorial because its all there - You can then mix it up as you wish to suit your own live performance - Thanks to Carl though for taking the time to put this together awsome work man!

"There must be some kind of way out of here, " Said the joker to the thief, "There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief. Business men - they drink my wine Plowmen dig my earth None will level on the line Nobody of it is worth." "No reason to get excited, " The thief - he kindly spoke, "There are many here among us Who feel that life is but a joke But you and I we've been through that And this is not our fate So let us not talk falsely now The hour's getting late." All along the watchtower Princess kept the view While all the women came And went bare-foot servants too Outside in the cold distance A wild cat did growl Two riders were approaching And the wind began to howl, hey.

Nice man, what are people saying about playing with soul? You mean a cocktail of coke, LSD and weed right? That didn't help jimi much. Its 95% there. Best cover I've seen I'd say, there is a young lad that plays just solo with a modern tone that nails the dynamics and swing but doesn't play the full song like this, but then neither does jimi.

I always used to play barre chords then I learned that Hendrix would play the open position F chord with his thumb on the 6th string and just slide it around as a barre chord substitute. That is definitely the way to go! Makes it much easier to switch between rhythm and lead. It does take big hands though.
