DrPsychedelic its true, jimi would have played at unimaginable volumes,PA systems were not as they are now back then so therefore jimi had to turn his amps up to crazy volumes to be heard, and he loved how the amps behaved at that volume. Nobody was anywhere near Jimi's level of talent, he was a master virtuoso , his fingerboard wizardry changed the entire sound of rock guitar and the way it would be played forever...
@horrorkungfutheatre02 жыл бұрын
There was no one that could touch his virtuosity until Eddie Van Halen came along and even he would have admitted that he was heavily influenced by Hendrix and Eric Clapton. I heard from reliable local sources... (I went to high school with those guys) that Eddie in his early days claimed he could play ANY Clapton solo note for note. I believe it was true. You should have heard him play cover tunes. I did, several times! Man, he rocked out on "Rock n Roll, Hootchie Coo" for example despite the raspy voice of David Lee Roth. Eddie was a great player even in High School, but like Jimi, he was such an original innovator on the electric guitar later on when Van Halen made it big. Sure SRV and Robin Trower copied Hendrix pretty well, but there was only one Jimi and likewise, although many copied Edward, there was only one Eddie Van Halen. His son, Wolfie... actually can play guitar almost as good as Eddie amazingly, but Eddie is the original. I think innovation counts for a lot when evaluating the significance of guitar players. Shredders are a dime a dozen. I saw so many of them in the "King of the Blues" contest that Guitar Center Covina had which I competed in. Edward brought Pagani chops into hard rock, even more than Zappa did. Zappa was another underrated innovator. Les Paul was not that good by today's standards, but he too was an innovator. The electric guitar and double tracking was almost unheard of before Les Paul and Mary Ford. I don't know .... maybe I should give Charlie Christian the accolades for the electric guitar, but surely Les Paul made guys like Beck and Page possible with the multi-track recording thing and guitar designs.

Besides the obvious, Jimi's mad and beautiful playing, I love the whole loosey-goosey vibe of the time. Everything nowadays is so professional and, face it, bland when it comes to popular performing arts. People will never be able to comprehend what Jimi was doing then, playing through inferior equipment that frequently broke down. In fact we owe it to Jimi that new equipment had to be invented so that he could play what he was hearing in his head. In many ways it would be like a genius painter given no brushes and limited paint that he had to create himself. Yet, guitarists are still scratching their heads trying to figure out how he got the sounds he did, his technicality, and the ability to orchestrate consistently and concisely with feedback. I will forever be in awe of Jimi, he is the greatest indisputably of all time.
@rebeccabailey5273 жыл бұрын
Inferior equipment? Hardly. The stuff available back then was as good and even better than the new stuff. Back then, amps made less gain, had a different eq (more mids and treble), and didn't have push button channel switching, or built in dsp effects, but they were far more robust, and louder. the capacitors and resistors were much higher value in terms of wattage, voltage, and Farad ratings. The potentiometers were better built, and tubes tended to last for decades, today tubes usually last 6 months to a year before crapping out. As far as the sounds jimi got, it's no secret to guitarists how he did it.

This also correlates with vocal vibrations when combating wicked spirits. A strong vibration can cast wicked spirits into the underworld like a hammer hitting a nail.The Ju in Jujutsu refers to gentle and flexible. The gentle approach is underestimated and is subtle. This enables a person to maneuver and adapt with their enemies attacks and motions. This technique is most useful in written warfare. When you face written opposition the enemy often creates an opening for more attacks through their own words. This is mental Jujutsu. The law of motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Use muscle tension and force along with a willingness to use spiritual violence. That means if you release energies from you body into the atmosphere they must have an equal and opposite reaction in the atmosphere. This carries over to the theory of sonics and the transmission of mechanical energy. The body is a biomechanical source of energy and vocalized words and emotions are the most powerful forces that the body transmits. Applying understanding and willpower to these natural concepts enhances a persons influences. This is sonic wave warfare.

Jimi didn’t really like Buddy’s singing all that much , but he was a more solid drummer than Mitch . Mitch was more technical , but very sloppy at times live . And Noel would get totally lost sometimes also . Jimi was just on a completely different level and not easy to follow either . It’s quite sad he died so tragically and young . It’s hard to imagine how much better he might have gotten and what direction he would have went . There’s no one that can even come close in certain aspects of his spirit and intensity not to mention creativity. At times he was off , but there was so much chaos around him it seemed .

@@steveobro49Are you kidding me? Mitch was 100d better drummer than Buddy. Buddy was a great asset as a singer, and I think Jimi appreciated Buddy leading the show a bit and taking attention off him. I think Jimi sometimes just liked to jam and not worry about being a leader .

He had to replace the neck of his strat before the concert, but there weren't any strat necks in stock. Jimi's crew took his guitar to a shop and they only had telecaster necks, so the guy at the shop had to modify the neck to let it fit on the strat body
