Several witnesses say indeed Clapton walked off stage. Not because he was mad--he was disappointed in himself! This moment encouraged him to do better, I think its a good thing someone came in better than him or he might have coasted!
@michaelhenehan18096 ай бұрын
I don't think Clapton would have coasted, but Jimi was that kind of game changer. There was the world before Hendrix came on the scene and then a different, more vibrant world after he hit the scene. As much as I'd like to think of him as just a human being, I can't help but think he somehow came from another planet

1. Clapton and Hendrix met before with Pete Townsend 2. Jack Bruce didn't played with them cuz Hendrix used bruce's amp 3. Clapton played the "fool" guitar back then which was an Gibson SG 4. Jack Bruce played the Gibson SG bass or the danelectro bass 5.they played killing floor by howling wolf and not mannish boy by muddy waters which doesn't sound like what they've played there 6. Good movie
@asaucerfullofsecrets8 жыл бұрын
Paddy Padraig just the 3rd and 4th are wrong. Eric was still playing Les Pauls at the time and Jack was using his Fender Bass VI. Eric began using the Fool in mid '67.
@kkjhn418 жыл бұрын
Jack did play. There is an interview with him here on KZbin where he said that his amp was the only one that had two inputs so he and Jimi both played through the same amp. Townsend and Clapton did not meet Hendrix before this. Chas Chandler claimed that he set up this jam when Jimi asked if he knew Clapton. Townsend on the other hand says that he called Clapton having never met him before and invited him to come see this guy he'd been hearing about. Pete says that when they went to the club they met Jeff Beck coming out and Beck said that this American guy was stealing Pete's 'thing' with feedback. They went in, saw Jimi and were demoralized. They knew that he blew them away as a player and decided that the best thing to do was to claim him as one of their own. You have to realize that the only experience of blues and Black musicians that all these English bands had were old recordings and any tours that older blues musicians did in Europe. Hendrix was loud and aggressive and doing his stage show built from playing the chittlin' circuit and trying to stand out in a very regimented R&B backing musician lock down. This was like being released from a musical cage for Jimi and these little English boys were not ready for this. All the producers of this movie had to do was listen to how Jimi played Killing Floor during his first gigs in Europe or even at Monterey and they would have had a better idea how to play this scene. There is nothing about the playing or the showmanship in this scene that accurately conveys what happened that day.

Cream & Hendrix enjoyed a unique sibling relationship and mutual respect. Jimi felt Eric was the best guitarist in England and was very excited to meet him. Inspired by CREAM, Jimi made the Experience a trio. A few years later, when Jimi heard Cream was breaking up, he risked being banned from the BBC and perform an unplanned tribute to Cream instead of the Hendrix hit he was booked for. 2 nights before he died, Jimi had dinner with Jack Bruce and Tony Williams to discuss the trio's plans to form a new group TOGETHER. The night Jimi died, Eric and he were to get together but got separated in the crowd as the Sly Stone concert they were at let out. Later that night, having missed Eric in the crowd and the new guitar Eric had brought to gift him, Jimi ended up jamming with Howard Scott, Eric Burdon & War.

No, it is not. The only thing in common with that song is it's I IV V in the key of. They are playing a generic blues. And they could have found a hundred guitar player that could make it sound more like Hendrix than they did on this track. Same goes for what Clapton played of. Standard local blues band stuff, In fact, I know 3 local blues guitarists here in Columbus Ohio that could have played it more interesting than the dorian scale claptrap they used here. Both Clapton and Hendrix have signature licks aspiring players learn. I don't hear a single one in this song.

If this is October 1966--Cream has only been together for 3-4 months. All three would have had short haircuts at the time--both Bruce and Clapton would still have their mod haircuts. Bruce actually was playing a Fender bass VI at the time, which was a six stringed instrument. Clapton would be playing a sunburst Paul--which is correct here. But that's about the only thing that's correct, outside of Jimi sitting in with them.

Ospite nello show americano The Dick Cavett Show, Dick gli fece la stessa domanda a Jimi, e Jimi era non solo in evidente imbarazzo ma rispose: ...Oh no! Un grande come lo era Jimi o come lo è Eric, non si vanta e non si vantano mai e quando gli porgono domande fuori luogo, lo percepiscono come un fastidio. Tutto quì.
