After watching this interview, I have become convinced that Jimmy Dore is my brother. I have exactly the same family dynamic but there were only three of us. A good place to start with unconvinced family members is Adam Curtis documentaries (mostly BBC) ... "Century of the Self" is the best series to start with. I'm a fan of Jimmy but I have very left wing parents. More conservative folks are likely to react negatively to Jimmy.

This was a fantastic conversation! When I first started watching TYT, I found Jimmy to be an acquired taste, but I acquired it and I find him hah-larious now, not to mention *aware*! He touched on so many topics that I've been talking about with other people, particularly with regard to the "owner class" and their "money mania." I'll look for his book at the library, and if they don't have it, I'll have them order it! He was wrong about the Village Voice, however, in that they are not still owned by Murdoch - he sold it in 1985, but he bought it in 1977 and no doubt had a strong influence with it! Only a minor detail, as he was right about all the other things he *still* owns!

+Scarlett Moreno Louie's a pretty shrewd guy, though. He just doesn't place the focus on it because you catch more flies with honey. Take that bit he wrote about switching seats with soldiers on airplanes because he's just a comedian and this guy in coach is "fighting for his country, he thinks." His routine about banks charging people for overdrawing and giving money to rich investors is making the exact same point in a more thoughtful and subtle way. We need both Jimmy and Louie in our corner. That's my point. Louie reminds me of a young George Carlin. I'm hoping the rage sets in, but I'll still be glad if it doesn't.
