Glad to see you enjoying Jinjer! Vlad often uses a jazz style kit, with fewer pieces than the massive ones so common in big metal bands. I believe he has stated it is for conservation of motion and keeps him from expending as much energy. I really love how much care and balance the 4 of them craft into their songs as they all work w/o ego to create complete songs. Hope you check out "Judgement and Punishment" one take, "Teacher, Teacher", "Vortex", and"Home Back ".

Vlad (the drummer) was a classical pianist until some friends of his in a band needed a drummer. He learned drums to join. Having been a professional drummer myself I suspect that's where the setup comes from as well as his more jazzy style than the previous Jinjer drummer (who is also amazing) and that he plays what is called "split stick" where he doesn't cross his hands to play. Piano players don't generally cross their hands when they play either. Jinjer started out with two guitar players. The other guitar player quit to become an actor and has appeared in a couple of Jinjer videos since. The band's sound changed some over the years but how much of that is about going down to one guitar is debatable. The video Outlander Official Live at Loudfest is a good example of the band with their previous drummer and second guitar.

1:30 - They didn't exactly play the whole set, this song wasn't supposed to be the last. Let me tell you why: they were scheduled to play more time but since they were one of the first bands of the day on that secondary stage (their concert was around 11 AM!), there couldn't be any delays. Unfortunately for them, some problems with the stage's gear delayed the start of their set and they had to cut it short. They had roughly 30 mins to play, so they started from the beginning of the set and ended when the time ran out, which happened to be this song. Fun Fact : Pisces was right before this song, there's also a video of that song and the end of Pisces overlaps with the beginning of Perennial. 🙂

Fyi, the correct pronounciation is the way she says it at the end. I love the little smirk as she switches to the cleans like she knows exactly how much she's blowing our minds. My take on Vlad's kit is he's a classically trained pianist so he likes his stuff out in front of him. As to the balance of guitar and bass you talked about, Who Is Gonna Be The One live really puts that front and center. That song was composed originally for two guitars but they re-arranged it for just one guitar after their rhythm guitarist left. It's my favorite because the lyrics hit home for me, but my favorite part is the instrumental composition. No, that doesn't make sense to me either haha. They'll be back to the US sometime next year, promoting a new album we're all waiting for and serving as cultural ambassadors for Ukraine. Maybe spring as there are two make-up concerts scheduled for gigs that got cancelled this year. I'd recommend subscibing to one of their social media accounts so you can get notified and can buy early instead of paying extra to scalpers. Cheers!

Hey guys great reaction once again! It's fun to see people get blown away just like I did a year ago. Jinjer opened up more than a rabbit hole for me--more like the Grand Canyon! I was never into harsh vocals much before hearing Tatiana do it. I've discovered I much prefer it when women do it. Tati will always be my queen, but now I'm open to a whole range of (mostly female) extreme vocals. I'm finding new bands all the time. And I owe it all to Jinjer. This band is so good on so many levels. I could go on all day nerding out on the details of how good each song is. Keep up the great work. More Jinjer please! We're all crushing on Tatiana and the whole band. If you haven't heard the latest EP from Spiritbox, The Fear of Fear, I highly recommend you check it out. Courtney LaPlante-Stringer is another woman with a gorgeous clean voice who can also scream like a demon. Their melodies are catchy as hell. All the songs are linked together, though each stands alone. The end song even loops back into the first one. Some other suggestions: Ankor from Spain, Infected Rain from Moldova, Unleash the Archers, Arch Enemy, Periphery; Band-Maid, Hanabie, Nemophila and Lovebites from Japan. Eleine from Sweden (who remind me of Nightwish). So many great metal bands out there, many with harsh vocals, many of them women. I love it!

If Jinjer is more to your liking than Nightwish, give Epica a try. Their Singer Simone is not that versatile as Floor or Tati (I never heard her growling) but they have an additional singer (growler): Mark Jansen (not related to Floor, Jansen ist a familiar name in the Netherlands) Consign to Oblivion (recorded in Paris) is one of the popular reacted-to videos and gives an better insight to Epicas style (IMHO) than the ones with Floor Jansen at the Live Retrospect show. The Nightwish rabbit hole has some more connections to other rabbit holes you can discover: Sabaton (Their Christmas Truce would fit into the season; Don‘t spoil the crowd by skipping the credits and not reading who‘s done the outro😅), Ayreon, Within Temptation….

Just for clarity for many who don't know. The fest location is pronounced like "Vah-ken." W's are pronounced like V's. And V's are pronounced like F's. Hence, why the company Vicks (like the vaporub product) had to be rebranded in Germany to Wicks. The original spelling.... let's just say it doesn't translate well, lol.

After that Check Ayreon - Everybody Dies (Ayreon Universe) LIVE also with Floor ! I'm very, very, very sure you will like and love it ! And there much form Ayreon. It's Prog/ metal / rock of the highest level. all songs are a story line. So when you dive in not the order of the song ! If you want to see and hear the composer / creator, Arjen Anthony Lucassen then check the song: Ayreon - Garden of Emotions (Electric Castle Live And Other Tales) LIVE ! The first singer is Arjen !
