I thought it was an excellent well done alien action horror film. I mean, what more do people want? Critics complain about the film not being original, well there's only so much you can do with an alien movie. The aliens either stay in space to fight a war there or come to earth to do it. The film was dark and that's fixed now if you get the extended version on 4k so I hear. But as for an overall view of this film, I'm giving it a solid 7/10. Now if you want to see proper sht then go watch Prey and Shane Blacks Predators. The first AVP movie I'm giving an 8 /12 out of 10, it's amazing and has developed a cult following as has AVP Requiem .

Yeah, this movie came out in the earlier days of digital color grading and like all new technologies, artists tend to be heavy handed in their usage of them. It’s also pretty clear they didn’t have enough faith in the Predalien creature so the brought the exposure way down to obscure it. Definitely demerits the movie in many ways. There’s a dude on KZbin who brought some of the exposure back while maintaining contrast and it looks so much better, the creature design is really solid too. Fox really kneecapped themselves with the visuals of this movie.

If the lighting was better... it would've still got dunked on pretty hard. Back in its day, this movie was so badly written, so pointlessly dull and bleak, and pissed away so many golden opportunities for a truly compelling story, that it basically torpedoed not only its own crossover franchise, but left both its parent franchises on life support, too. Whatever lighting it may or may not have had made absolutely zero difference.

They respected their audiences, treated them like thinking, reasoning adults, and were made with passion and sincerity. This movie was not. Plain and simple. That's why I hate it so much. And on a minor note, it actually physically hurts both my eyes and my head to watch it for any real length of time due to a combination of bad lighting, camera work, editing, and color grading. AVP Requiem is a textbook example of not even trying. Piss poor lighting aside, it doesn’t try to make an interesting story, it doesn’t even try to make any interesting characters, and most of all it barely even tries to make use of the AVP concept. I mean seriously, who looks at the Aliens and Predators and instantly thinks they’re perfect for a teen slasher movie? That’s not what these franchises are known for. Say what you will about the first AVP movie, but at least there was some genuine effort being put on screen, even if the execution was a bit shoddy. And what’s more frustrating, is that the Brothers Strause had some very interesting ideas for a proper AVP movie. Like for instance they wanted it to be set in space, and have space marines decked out in Predator armor and gear, and battling against a group of Predators and a flying Xenomorph king. That would’ve been cool to see. It’s just a shame that the studio executives couldn’t even be bothered to green light that interesting, and instead they settled for Dawson’s Creek guest starring the Aliens and Predators. Now I know people tend to diss on Brothers Strause for essentially burning down the AVP concept, but I would like to point out that it isn’t entirely their fault.

Honestly it’s better then the one before it’s a guilty pleasure if any random person puts this movie on with no prior experience from previous movies it’s pretty solid when you can see things that’s still the biggest issue

Covenant was worse. Less entertaining and just awful. AVP Requiem was stupid fun. Convenant was no fun at all!

A movie so bad Alien fans will call it a Predator movie and Predator fans will call it an Alien movie. 😂 As a fan of both I think it fits being a predator movie far better. Fits in their lore better. Just kinda sucks ass unfortunately.

AVP Requiem is dark AF, but it’s not a bad film. Critics don’t seem to understand that the AVP films and Requiem in particular draws lots of inspiration from the AVP2 PC game in which one of the playable characters is a Predalien. The idea of chest bursters evolving into drones that take on the characteristics of their host was introduced in Alien 3, another misunderstood film, and expanded heavily in the toy line.

Photographed by the cinematographer of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which looked so RIGHT for the material.

I can't deny its failings (particularly the lighting), but I really liked this movie. Maybe it's just because it was the only one to feature xenomorphs in a normal, present-day setting, or because it was more open to killing absolutely anyone than any other movie in either franchise, but whatever the reason, I've always thought it was a fun watch.

This movie is ridiculous for what could have been from a major film division. But compared to what we got from 'prey' absolute disaster to me, a predator not even loaded up because it's the past is crap.😂❤🙊👹👹💩

I saw a Article Recently that the Director of Alien Romulus and the Director of Prey are talking about making a AVP 3 together so just wanted it to be known we may be getting another AVP Film in the Series. I also thought that AVP R sucked and it was worse AVP. I think if it wouldn't have been such a Dark Film it might have been a bit better but it still would have been the worst Film in the Series

I hated it when I first saw it because it was dark and impossible to see. After seeing it on bluray, I came to appreciate certain qualities, like how committed they were to shooting it in the rain. After seeing Romulus, well, unpopular opinion, I think I like it more than Romulus. Romulus became so formulaic after the first 30-40 minutes. At least this movie was different. My dream movie though would be, get Neill Blomkamp to directed an AVP reboot in space.Either on a space colony or another planet.

The original AvP comic by Dark Horse should have been used for the basis of the movie. That would have deffitely set up this crossover for a more successful run.

Hey Jo, The film wasn’t intended to be as dark as what we got. I’ve spoken with the DOP, and second unit DP (everything with the creatuins while Dan shot the lead actors) did not use appropriate lighting on set in relation to the film stock. There was a printing issue with the DVD that was slightly fixed in the blue ray release to a mild extent but not to how Colin and Greg wanted. Ultimately fox screwed the print. I did however encourage Dan and Colin into restoring the films image integrity as we saw in the trailer, which Dan gave some thought to, but unfortunately the Greg and Colin decided not to persue this. The directors have went onto say they never had the opportunity to approve the films master and made the discoveries upon receiving the DVD and blue ray release. While Dan revisited the film recently (to judge whether there is information that can be restored in colour correction), Colin has not since 2007.

Hard disagree. This movie is leagues better than Resurrection and the first AvP movie. It absolutely has its problems that frustrate the hell out of me (poor color grading/exposure and the Archie Comics teenagers subplot), but inside it harbors a very fun, mean spirited R-rated monster flick. 7/10

Is it the worst in either franchise? Easily. Will we ever get another entry? If we do, it probably won't be a sequel. With the success of Prey and early buzz being mostly positive for Romulus, I'd be more surprised if they DIDN'T give AvP another go.

Wolf is a peak Predator, AVP 1 were youngbloods going through the warrior trials. Inexperience vs experience. Wolf had massive experience dealing with Xenos so yes they would be nothing but cannon fodder.
