When talking about NoGi people always forget to mention Luta Livre. So, I was reading that Luta Livre actually just means “wrestling” Luta - Fight and Livre - Free. I was reading that LL allows for techniques that BJJ doesn’t. Such as strikes. But the wording in both articles I’m reading is awkward. The other big difference is that LL allows for slams. Is this accurate? Just by definition Free Fighting makes it sound like absolutely everything can be used. But since it also means wrestling, I’d imagine strikes aren’t allowed, but I just got confused as two articles brought up striking. Thanks for any reply.

i respect gi bjj but in reality it inferior to no gi.. no gi is the most practical and useful meaning its the best to translate to mma or a street fight/self defense situation. Gi bjj focuses so much of the moves on the gi itself like grabbing the collar and sleeves etc and obviously you dont wear a gi in an mma competition or a street fight. what are you gunna do tell the guy youre fighting in the street hold on a second we need to put on these robes real quick lol.. I had a buddy who had just got into bjj and he was telling me how he wanted to do it for self defense etc and i was like then why are you doing gi? do no-gi and i provided all the reasons above plus more and he proceeded to argue with me like saying no gi doesnt do belts.. which first off who cares if they do or dont but they do and he kept arguing until he said maybe i wanna do bjj for different reasons... and literally what it boiled down to was the fact he wanted to do gi bjj because he wanted to wear a gi purely for the looks and looking cool... I have another buddy who got into gi bjj and he would wear the sweatshirt from his gym that said MMA on it anytime he knew we would be somewhere where there was gunna be a lot of people lol... i think a lot of people who do gi bjj today do it because theyre insecure and want to look cool and they dont do it for the purity and love of the sport and the mental/phyiscal/emotional/spiritual aspects...

You wrote a whole novel to spew an opinion of one's prettiness in a gi. Choose whatever you enjoy going. Period. However? The Gi as with clothes, that people around me wear all the time, offers realism in a "street fight"/self defense situation. To think otherwise is ridiculous. Grab a tee, grab their jacket, shirt? Same ramifications as a Gi wearing partner. Actually been a street fight of actual notoriety?

@@Capius1272 lemme guess you’re a gi bjj cultist?? I wrote a novel of facts and those facts triggered you because you’re sensitive and you responded with something petty… btw there’s a difference between clothes and a bath robe bro lol… I’ve experienced violence at the most extreme as well as seen things and been through things you couldn’t fathom or handle.. good night buddy.

@@CKpremium1992 Nah, I think your friends are dumb and that might say something considering your opinion is stating people who train/trained in a gi will not have transferrable skills to MMA, a street fight or No-gi. There are so many examples of guys who competed and trained in a Gi at the highest level (IBJJF) and also competed in No gi and been World champions at THE highest in No-gi , take for examples Marcus Buchecha/ who is a multi-time world campion in Gi and No-gi (ADCC), on top of that he is now fighting MMA and is starching the competition in One Championship. Nicholas Meragali another example, I could go on and on. Clearly you know zero about jiu jitsu, respectfully.

No time limit matches don't prove who's better in bjj it's just a cardio game. Most of the time a lot of nothing is going on while they wait for the other person to get tired. No sport that has zero time limit is actually interesting to watch after the first 35 minutes

The point of jj is submission. The match should continue until there’s a submission, not silly points.

No gi the way to only train. Lots of people train bjj for self defense. No one on the streets wear gi. I think gi is very dum. Mma fighters don't fight with gi . Who cares what people think. No gi the only way to train. Gi overrated.

@@bassbndt wow you’re stupid.. “I can guarantee you’re not going to get into a street fight against somebody not wearing clothes”… 🤦🏻♂️ no one trains no gi naked.. you wear a rash guard.. a rash guard is a long sleeve and pants.. that’s actual clothes… a gi is a robe.. you do not wear robes in a street fight.. you do not wear a gi in the ufc or in mma.. gi bjj also focuses on using the gi in its submissions which is stupid because that does not translate because you do not wear a gi in an mma fight and you do not wear a robe in street fight.. and it’s also stupid because grappling is about manipulating someone’s body not their clothes.. all facts.. and therefore the facts literally prove no gi is superior 100%… I can guarantee you don’t even train and have never been in a fight yourself and you have a low Iq.
@bassbndt Жыл бұрын
@@CKpremium1992 A rash guard is not equivalent to clothing one would wear on the street… in fact it is infinitely closer to being topless than wearing an actual clothing item. A jacket or thick shirt would function in the same way the grips of a gi do, that is the entire point. You’re facts are not facts by the way, they are opinions. Maybe brush up on your vocabulary before you continue making a fool of yourself on the internet.

@@CKpremium1992 Also, you were quite quick to fall back on the classic “I bet you don’t do X I bet you don’t do Y you must have a low IQ you’re stupid” etc. Funny enough, it is “fact” that these self conscious retorts are one of the primary indicators of one’s own lack of intelligence (also known as low IQ). There’s a “fact” for you to ponder. Stop projecting - individuals like yourself are a terrible look for our sport.

Gi is like wearing a saddle for people to hold on and stay on top. I hate it. It's also like wearing a noose around your neck. I hate wasting my time learning shit like lapel chokes and I hate that I even learn to defend it because I will never be choked like that by anyone in the real world. It honestly feels like a waste of time. Collar chokes are BS
@zomb1elvis Жыл бұрын
I do find no gi easier, but to say gi doesn't have any carry over to real life i don't think is true. The problem is a gi makes it quite a lot easier to choke someone out than say a hoodie, so unless you're doing gi at a high level you might struggle

No Gi is way more realistic in street fights. The Gi is just too much clothing coming off or getting in the way. Gi grapplers are way too reliant on grips on clothing. No Gi is the real deal.
