This right here is what it’s all about! For those who’ve been watching this channel for a long time, you know the Jensens are a tight family unit! Family deer hunting, opening days fishing, duck opener etc! All family oriented! Our country is lacking things like this! Very few these days! Joe works hard on these videos so we can see into his life! I have never missed a video in 10 years! A huge thank you for showing folks what a true family unit is! I wish you and your son good luck on deer hunting opener, i will be watching, your show is totally awesome. I don't hunt anymore but watching you Joe and Zach , Sara and your dad. It just shows tradition, you are hunting for food. I love deer meat because i am a meat eater. My question form my home up here in Halifax, Nova Scotia is will you be retiring at the farmhouse or your cabin and when is your big day with your wife to be ?....LOL!

Great stories ! Thank you for taking the time to share. I do hope that you give bow hunting a try. I don't see it being a problem with the amount of time you have spent hunting by the tent. Knowing the area and deer patterns is half the battle. All that is left is setting up close enough for an ethical shot but you know all this. I personally love the quietness of bow hunting and the challenge of holding the bow at full draw when the shot placement suddenly changes. I have gotten deer with both bow and rifle but I started out with bow and by doing so it taught me lessons on how to get closer to deer. You can at least take one day during the family tradition to give it a go or even one day at the Farmhouse. I'm telling you, you will LOVE IT.

My late husband processed his elk and deer for probably 40 45 years as time went on they would bring generators and big portable freezers on trailers full of equipment behind a motorhome. I helped one year . It was so cold and it hadn't snowed yet. Ron really enjoyed the whole thing tracking, the down, haul back and process. Great eating the rest of the year. I miss it. Happy elk and deer seasons to all.

I was interested to learn more about the tent and how it was made. I did watch some of your earlier videos but it was cool to hear about how it morphed from 'just a tent' to 'almost a cabin'. it isn't fancy like your mom & dad's but you're out in the mud and snow and making fires, cleaning fish, chopping wood- how fancy would you want it? it's pretty dang comfortable from what I can see and you keep it in good shape. It was also cool to hear about you working with your dad as a kid and learning to budget for lunches. Good lesson for kids, eh? Seems that you have taught your kids to stand on their own two feet too. Seems to me that between you and Zach, you could build or repair dang near anything. It was also nice to hear more about Sarah; mostly it's a man's channel, but it's nice to hear about her too. Very nice video you guys.

Good point about shoes vs. boots. I used to wear moccasins when I was driving tank trucks in the winter. They would get wet in the snow hooking up hoses and moving around the tank, but once back in the truck, they would dry off quickly. Because my feet could move around in them they didn't get cold, either. Once the load was running, I'd be back in the truck getting warm, anyway. BTW, R model Mack trucks had great heaters. :D

This was a GREAT video. I had no questions, because I follow along (and have from the beginning). Even bought a stove after Joe talked about his replacement a year ago....maybe 2? My daughter and I look forward to your milestone vids (Deer, Duck, Fishing, Winter Trip) and I've come to HOPE I can be as OCD as Joe on cleaning and maintenance...😆😆 But...if you don't do it, who will...and how much will it cost? It's great to see Zach and Sara (C'mon Em...!) with you....esp on the Milestone Vids...continue to pass the tradition (I LOVE the homage paid with the lantern at Duck Camp). Reminds me of what I've tried to do in my own family...becomes a legacy. I would hope that one day....someone hangs a lantern for me. It would be so great to see them both more often...but...they obviously have their own lives. As a viewer, I used to get a little frustrated, because....NO CABIN BUILD...but in this vid, Joe sums it up perfectly...kind of "It ain't broke...Why fix it?" and that's AWESOME....literally has me re-thinking my approach to the land my brother and I have up near the Canadian border. Keep it up, you guys.....HOPE to see more vids like this in the future!

Love this video Joe and Zach!!! Just setting around answering questions and having a relaxing time. Love the deer story that you told around the camp fire. Those first harvest by your kids are always the most memorable times!! I guess you all's bag limit for deer must be 1 deer?? Here in WV we can harvest like 3 does and 3 bucks. You could get a buck with a bow and a buck with a rifle and a buck with a muzzleloader. Nice, 30-06 is my caliber of choice!!! Of course I reload my own ammo, but before then I used Remington Core-Loc ammo in the 30-06. Those are Winchester silver tips are some great bullets in the 30-06!!! I use a 150 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip projectile in my reloads. But, I have also used the Winchester silver tip bullets a few times before I got into reloading. This was a great video Joe and Zach, it is nice to kind of get personal with you guys. Keep up the great videos. Juddie - J & J TOA

I would love to stream the tent, i hope that happens some day. As for the tent itself i love it. It would be so hard to no longer see it. The tent it rugged and outdoorsy a new cabin would lose some of the eleament but you deserve a great place to go and id be happy for you to have what u truly want. Great job doing question and answers, it brings more awareness to us viewers.

What’s the bag limit for deer? In Texas we have a general bag limit of 5- no more than 1 buck… all seasons combined. So you could get a deer during archery and still hunt rifle season…. Is it a lack of freezer space? Or you just don’t need the meat? Special late season in January for Texas is does or spikes only….
@JoeandZachSurvival3 жыл бұрын
The state is broke up into many areas. By the hobby farm house you can get one buck and unlimited does but the rifle season is only two weeks long. In most of the state you can shoot one buck or a doe but only one deer for the seasons combined. At the tent you can shoot one buck, that is it. There was a doe lottery and only 25 permits were available for that area and my Dad was one that got drawn BUT. He can still only shoot a buck or a doe. Not both.
