Ford fusion 2010 hybrid electric mode not operating any more

Thank You!!! I have been dealing with the problem for about a year now. My 2010 fusion acts exactly like the video you presented. I went to my mechanic who tried to fix the problem when it started, but couldn't using the ford software, he will try to follow your direction to remedy the issue.

I am not sure if you may get this, but at 8:13 on the video, it says to put the car in On position. You have to put the Car in On position at the begging to connect Forscan to the Vehicle. I'm confused. Did you Turn the Car completely on? Thanks

I had the same issue with my 2010 Fusion, EV mode was limited for almost a year until I decided to Google to avoid the $tealership. Found same info on a Ford forum with screens hots to follow. I picked up a $24 scanner from Amazon, downloaded the free Forscan software and fixed in ^10 minutes. It was super easy and I felt like I had a brand new car! I read many horror stories of people getting frustrated with mechanics and dealers that had no clue. I was still shocked to learn that Ford does not share this information with all Hybrid owners to let them know that EV function will become almost completely disabled at the ^10 yr mark. I'm back to 41-43 mpg/700 mi range and loving my 11 yr old baby!

The age counter disables the battery regardless of condition in order for the owner to force a checkup to confirm the condition of the system. I haven't heard of a battery failure yet. There are 12 year old escape hybrids running original battery's in the nyc taxi system with a half million miles on them. As long as the parameters in the live data looks good ..reset age and go!

@@dougd2723 I think it’s bypassing the ford setting, kinda like modding your PlayStation and ending up with a bad disc, eventually i feel like there’s more pressure on the cars transmission so it’ll end up with a bad transmission after some years. But so far I had no issues.

Avery good video Joel.What year hybrid was it? When I try to reset the age it says the vehicle doesn't support that function. I'm using a Launch scanner on a 2011 Lincoln MKZ hybrid.

I ordered a ELM327 to use with the forscan, soon arrive and I tried I will report here. Thanks a lot I get my fusion one month ago, he are hybrid 2010 81k miles, in good conditions, the battery charge good he is not runinng in ev mode, he just go in ev mode when i am stopped or braking. I think this will fix my fusion I will be very happy thanks to share all this information.

@@iliaortho Yes! You can plug the elm in you car and I your laptop with forscan. You need a ELM327 that support forscan.

hi Joel I have a 2010 Milan hybrid seems to be the same problem we have replaced the battery and yet still it won't go into EV mode it gives me a battery high low voltage and also a charge code P0562 and u3003 can you please tell me what unit you used to reset it and what I need to connect it to the computer like you did so I get the correct equipment it has already been to three mechanics and I have nearly a thousand dollars in bills from different things that have been replaced I know from talking to mechanics it doesn't seem anyone has tried to do this and I really don't want to bring it back to somebody and ask ive paid till it hurts! if you can please give me the information I will attempt to do it myself after seeing the success in your video thank you very much Chris Novo

I own a 2010 FFH that I purchased in Spring of 2009. My Fusion Hybrid currently has about 172,000 miles on the original hybrid battery and powertrain. The hybrid battery still seems to fully recharge, but I can no longer drive in HEV mode. Since the hybrid battery seems to be functioning okay, can I just reset the battery age to zero in the BECM to restore full HEV driving mode?

I have heard it restore ev funtions as long the hv battery has still some juice available. sure wouldn't hurt any thing , the ecu still will monitor correctly voltage and amperage.

yes, i did my 2010 ffh and did my neighbor's 2010 ffh and his 2011 lincon mkz hybrid, restored all to original battery output and economy

@@iliaortho to reset the year date you need a dongle that plugs into the obdii port on one end and a laptop usb on the other end-install Forscan on the PC and use it to change the year value from what is (probably year 9 to either 0 or 1)-it will allow the ECM to utilize the full available power rather than stepping it down in Ford's misguided attempt tp make the batteries not have all available power on tap to ensure battery lasts the 10 year warranty.

i have a 2010 milan hybrid, had simple work done, the guy who did the work either let my battery and it needed to be replaced, from what he told me he tried to put a regular car battery in it and then realized it was the wrong battery. long story short i got my car back and EV mode will not come on, i dont know if i have to do something to get it back or maybe he messed something else up from doing that.

When you were driving in the beginning, you know that the car and hybrid system were not warmed up enough to operate normally, right? The little icon on the far left turns green when the hybrid system is ready to operate properly. Not saying yours is running correctly, but that was not a good example

Did it! it took a few hours to figure it out . The hardest thing was getting the driver for the BBFLY reader, but with the tutor given here ) www.fordfusionforum.com/topic/19361-my-instructions-on-restoring-the-hybrid-ev-function-on-the-ford-fusion-hybrid-approaching-the-89-years-mark/) the software for Forescan was not that hard if you use the instruction on the site. Getting 37mpg after a few minutes of driving !.
