I love Tim and Eric sketches that follow this format. They have a slightly humorous sketch play out, in which you understand that you're supposed to be laughing, but nothing quite gets you there. The anticipation build and builds, and then, at the very last moment, something absolutely preposterous happens, all of that tension is suddenly released in an instant with an explosion of laughter. It's brilliant.
