So happy to say that I saw him perform live. An incredibly odd but wonderful time.

Very cool! Feels like one of those tunes you could play all day long. Loving this and yes it's another MT discovery.

Not only a good tutorial on the song, but a good intro and explanation of how to explore open C tuning. Well done

Sunflower River Blues is the first (of many) John Fahey songs I love. His style has been enormously influential and has been described as the foundation of the genre of American primitive guitar. Beautiful tribute lesson. Thankyou MT. I'll be learning this today 🎼

I love this channel. Nice presentation, manner and no BS. Great explanations. The only other one I really like is Anyone Can Play Guitar.

Great lesson MT, and such a awesome song! Adding this one to my now large list of songs that your channel has introduced me too. But I also wanted to ask if you had any other open C song lessons up or any other fun open C songs you would recommend learning to play. I tuned one of my guitars to this tuning and plan on learning this one and a few more before switching it up. Google tells me a lot of John Butler Trio and a few Zeppelin songs but still wanted to ask you for your favorites. Thank you !

Hey Tim! Great question, I don’t have any other open C lessons up. I love John Butler Ocean, that’s all I’m familiar with. I see Led Zeppelin has some stuff in C too. I’ll see what else is out there!

Great lesson sir! Love this song and there aren't many tutorials out there for it. And the tone on that guitar is phenomenal. Can I ask what kind of guitar you're playing here...is that an OM18?

I've been a John Fahey fan since the 60s. I actually met John, he had come to Montreal to play at a local folk music club. Apparently he had a girlfriend in Montreal. In between sets I would talk to him in the green room. He had been to India and also I had been to India. Apparently he was or had been a follower of a woman saint, Anandamayi Ma. After the gig, I drove him back to his hotel. The next morning he was flying back to the states. I still love his music, an originator of the guitar style called "Americian Primitive Guitar".
