I don’t remember much, because I was 9 back then, but I loved the bagpipes and the energy of the song, even though I didn’t understand the lyrics (started learning English in school a few years later) 😆…. Also it was in the charts in 1987, so this was before the German reunion. I was born behind the wall. Maybe this is why the song resonated so much with me and still does…

Song was written in 1980s about the Cold War, & the nuclear weapons aimed across Europe by Russia & USA. The Berlin Wall came down at the end of 1989. It'd be a good song for the anti-gun movement in USA now.

For a little perspective on how good John is, Freddy Mercury thought John was the best singer he'd ever heard and after his passing John was the first person the band asked to replace him as lead singer. John declined as he disliked being separated from his family for long periods, which he had experienced when he sang lead for the Little River Band...

John sold that venue out more than 90 times in his career. That is just one City in Australia. John was not allowed to sing his way or his own music until he was 38. He started at 17 with a number 1 hit and no one wanted to record his music after one very bad manager. His video is called Finding The Voice. You should watch it alone and it is on KZbin. More John! You haven’t done Granada with Anthony Warlow for some Opera but more seeing just how funny John is. You haven’t heard Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar or Burn for you. Farnham is our National Treasure❤A true legend who is a very recent cancer survivor. You guys should find his Jesus Christ Superstar Performances. …it will make your jaw drop.I’m sure there’ll be someone who has the links to those. This song almost 30 years old …released in 1986😊

If you want to see audience interaction watch from same concert and orchestra his cover of help Also cover of AC/ DC long way from the top same concert and orchestra you'll love the fun the orchestra has You'll only get sound track as he's warm up song Led zeppelin black dog cover amazing John is called the voice because sings any genre as well Also he wanted to sing the voice song but writer didnt think he'd do it justice So refused to give him right to sing it and he desperately wanted to sing it Said to his manager he's singing anyway and dont care if get sued he'll pay it to sing it Doesn't care if he get nothing from it and that concert first time he sang it against writers wishes The song had never been sung before this and was such a success the writer gave him permission and rights The writer was the one who didn't think he'd do it justice But was happy john went against him Because didnt believe after hearing it That anyone could do it better Also way above what he expected the song could be Now they laugh about it

You really need to change the screen set-up as the video is far too small. So much is missed and not experienced because of this. Still glad that you reacted to this wonderful song and singer, John Farnham. That anthem of a song gave him the nick-name , ' The Voice".
