Exactly! I would have thought one would invite him onto one's show precisely BECAUSE he would be likely to cause a bit of a kerfuffle! John's interesting ,intelligent,provocative and a laugh ( but he has a softer side and has mellowed a lot); if you want a boring yes-man,don't invite him!

Karens existed since the 1950s. The difference now is that they have the support of mainstream media and housewives around the country. Back then, you didn't get to see their stupidity because people would call them out for it. Now, because social media is in charge of information and controlled by a bunch of Karens, this behavior is promoted as how things should be.

Sued?? You just treat them with the contempt they deserve. I think they were looking for a way to cancel as Barr had come to the realisation she was out of her depth. Lydon also had the feeling it was going to happen and pushed it. The hidden button camera was a fair indicator of his intent. The backstage 'filming' WAS the Johnny Rotten Show and was always intended to be.

This is weird. I wonder if there's a lot more to the story. I mean...if I had a talk show and invited John on it, I would EXPECT him to act up. I would embrace it, because that's what he does and it makes for good entertainment. He's not even that bad here. I think he's funny. He can't be the first guest on that show to be a bit "colorful." I wonder if Roseanne was even aware of this at the time? I think she would welcome his honesty and give it right back to him!

Lisa C. You are presuming that Roseanne's attitude pervades the entire management structure... Priducers, executive producers, PR people and such usualyl have their own cookie cutter "vision" of how things are supposed to go. Johnny didn't lick their backsides, which is what they are doubtless used to from all but the biggest stars (which in mainstream celebritydom, Johhny is not).
@buppie2000
@buppie2000 10 жыл бұрын
***** Seems to me that it was Roseanne's crew that didn't lick Johnny's backside. I am a bigger fan of Johnny than Roseanne, but he was the dickish one in this case. He was a guest at her place and they were gracious to allow him access which he abused by making snide remarks about the food and the jab at her personal appearance (hands). Does he think her crew didn't hear this? Her crew is there to do thier jobs and he is there fucking with their gigs. I understand completely. I am one of those (not THOSE specifically) people that works daily live TV. Do you have some insight in that environment? In my experience the people you cite are there precisely because they share her "vision". Believe me, if they didn't, they wouldn't be there. Cheers.

My favourite part was the "I'm not your lap dog". I've noticed that increasing in recent years with authority types who assume for themselves what appears to be a regal attitude. Totally perplexing what kind of a trip some are on. Seventeen years later living in these farcical times shows that Johnny boy here was the only one being real.

This is just too damn good! He's the type, if you are kind to him, he will probably treat you that way, and if you're an ass to him, you will get that too! If they gave him that agreement, then treated him like that, they were in the wrong. And he's totally right. Don't say "Come here" to me like i'm your friggin' dog! I am just loving watching this man talk about different things!

Everyone acted like it was so daring having a family of under-achievers, unattractive looking children and a crochet rug on the couch was so new and outrageous. With the exception of the crochet rug, the Simpsons were already doing it. Man, she was just awful, and the story lines were crap. Like 'Happy Days' but with even uglier looking people in it.

Floors me what goes through the heads of these pretentious TV people. To have John Lydon - rocks notorious 'bad singer' to appear with Rosanne, who sang badly at a baseball game. Johnny did it to hit a nerve with people, to air his anger, to make people disgusted and fearful of his affronting. Rosanne did it to be 'funny'. And she and her people are going to tell Johnny how to behave, and whats off limits to the 'super secret little comedy show'? Johnny and his people are still rocking today. And Rosanne and her people....? All alone with a quiet phone and empty tubs of Haagen Daaz no doubt. Hope that ounce of power felt good for them back in the day, because they will NEVER get it back. Johnny will forever have it, and for damn good reason!
