I was lucky enough to meet John when I was asked to feed the ACL crew and musicians many moons ago (1992?). I barely had a notion of who he was. While I was setting up tables for everyone I heard John and his band cracking jokes on the ACL stage. They would start and stop during rehearsal, start laughing, play some more, laugh some more and then finish the song they were rehearsing. The lyrics and the fun they were having forced me take a break and just sit near the stage and listen. Why didn't I know wo he was? Many bands I had fed didn't seem to be having so much fun during rehearsal. On the way home from I stopped at Waterloo Records and bought two albums by John Prine. I sat in my catering van in front of my restaurant and listened to most of one album before I began unloading everything. To me It was like finding a pearl in an oyster. Thanks John.

@@fonz-solo8251 I understand that, and it saddens me. I was simply wondering why so many people think he went to heaven. I've been hoping to find evidence of John's faith in Jesus and transformed life. It's possible I suppose but I have found no evidence whatsoever that he was born again or had any actual faith. I know he wrote a song about the missing years but it was a mockery. There's only one way to heaven, and that's through faith in the resurrection and a confession that Jesus is Lord. Sadly, I suspect John's not with Jesus right now. I hope and pray I'm wrong.
@user-wp5fe8ec6l4 жыл бұрын
@@awakentruth1116 god that's a sad perspective. If Jesus is halfway decent he'll be on John's side. Throw some salt over your shoulder and recite your favourite trademarked ancient poetry if you like but I doubt it's important. Thank goodness for John Prine, his music and his inspiration.
@awakentruth11164 жыл бұрын
@@user-wp5fe8ec6l It's not about Jesus being decent, though He is. It's about Him being JUST and HOLY. His words are very clear... "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." He also said, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." We are all sinners. John was a wonderfully skilled musician that brought much happiness to people during his life, but bringing people joy won't get you into heaven. John was just as much a sinner as you and I. God tells us, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." There is only ONE way to heaven, friend, and that is through faith and trust in Jesus. It's done by confessing to God that we are a sinner, repenting (changing our mind) of our sins and believing on Jesus for salvation (He paid for our sins with His blood). I don't know that John ever repented or believed on Jesus. Normally there's evidence of a life change (consider Brian Welch if Korn), and I don't see evidence for that. Depite popular belief, people don't just automatically go to heaven when they die. Maybe you should consider Jesus while there is still time for you. Be blessed

The perch bed was just a hoppin. Kept me so busy baiting & releasing, that i never got to wet a hook myself. Dawned on me after a while, just how busy He is too... forever baitin & releasin the things in within our lives. Too boot, i had the 3 basic races in my in my care as well. Brought strong to mind the Makers words of John's other present day witness to the world... Bob Dylan. When the lyrical line from "I and I" stated... "I've made shoes for everyone, even you, while I still go barefoot." Shoe fit the bill that day over me never gettin a chance to wet my own hook. 61617

Maybe most folk "just ignore" when it comes to bullies. Don't do that. Cheats and liars are like ?what? lice. Ain't they're gonna go away ... so like COVID, something to live with ... but ... pick a side. Wanna gain by betting on loss? c'mon now ... don't pretend clever.
