There's a picture of Cash sitting on the hood of a cobbled together caddy with one headlight on one side, 2 on the other.

Johnny actually ordered the Psychobilly Cadillac made, and he used to haul it around on tours to bring out on stage for this song. It survives today at the Storytellers' Museum in Tennessee.

At the end Johnny was talking on a C.B. Radio. This was how truckers and enthusiasts talked to each other before cell phones and you would have nick names Johns character was Cottonmouth

The end line where he's listing off all the model years is being sung to the tune of Leroy van Dyke's 'Auctioneer' song.

A fan built a car like the song described and gave it to Johnny . It was at Johnny's gift shop.

Great reaction! I saw your look of confusion when at the end he seemed to be talking to someone else and he said "This is Cottonmouth come'on" CB [citizen's band] radio. Like a police 2-wa radio - but for citizens - and anyone that was in range and on the same channel as you, you could hear and talk to them. We didn't use our real names - we had "handles" like a user name.. I was Neighborlady. Truckers would use them to alert each other of road hazards or police traps. It had its own lingo.. Check out the song Convoy or Teddy Bear. Great time.. Catch ya on the flip-flop..

Johnny Cash has so many great and iconic storytelling songs. Check out Five Feet High and Rising, an autobiographical song about a flood he experienced on the farm as a kid. It's really clever, and the song has a key change up between every verse, to match with the flood water going from 1 ft to 2 ft and then to 3 ft and then to 4 ft and finally to 5 ft. Love it. Spell Boy Named Sue is probably his most famous one. He does a cover of a railroad song, the Spirit of New Orleans, about classic train lines slowly disappearing as the country moves more to automobiles and planes. The original is great, but I absolutely love the Johnny Cash version. Something about his storytelling and singing is so incredible

Not sure if you've checked out any Chuck Berry at all. But, I suggest this video: Chuck Berry Live 1972 My Ding A Ling. It's hilarious! Chuck was of African decent, and was a huge part of the beginning of Rock n Roll. Many of our greatest artists have said that he was their biggest inspiration.

There were rumors around the Pontiac plant that Johnny worked there for a while. Personnel could not verify that it was Johnny Cash but records did show a John R Cash worked there for a few months. So that might be where he got inspiration for the song.

Country "Outlaws" Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and a few others hung out together, toured together, did The Highwaymen album together with Chris Kristopherson....they were a whole thing, a whole vibe, huge followings and you want to dive into all of them because they mention each other and their fun times and bad times in their songs. This was a rowdy bunch, don't be fooled. Check out Waylon Jennings "Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit Done Got OUt Of Hand" about getting arrested on stage for possession of drugs...they got banned from performing in certain cities like 2 Live Crew and if you don't know who that is ya better go find out haha "To All You ....I can't even repeat it on youtube haha also don't miss Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Linda Patsy Cline....right now stop life and do "Crazy" hahahaha...anyways ya need these in your life and will grow the channel and blow up comments with history lessons and memories from the old timer Boomers and Gen X. This was my first visit with you, like, subbed, and I'll be back. :)

Waylon Jennins sings the theme to Dukes of Hazard and hands are seen playing guitar for intro "Good Ol' Boys". Also check out "Good Hearted Woman", "Luchenbach, Texas" and Willie was known for getting in trouble with the cops for party favors on the tour bus...they raided his house one time....this bunch is a trip! Willie got everything taken by IRS...he did a big event called FarmAid that raised money for farmers. Just check out greatest hits on all these old timers and watch your channel blow up. This is what old people do now. We doom scroll and give unwanted advice to strangers. ~Gen X Grandma
