Happy birthday Figgy! I can't promise how active I'd be in a book club, but I can give it a try. (I'm going to vote for books I already have so I can be motivated to actually read them! lol) I also have a random question- are there genetic markers for melanoma like there are for breast cancer? (genes that a healthy person can get a screening for, I mean.) I was the victim of family history, but maybe I can tell other family members there's an option for them to get a screening if they want to. Also, for that reason, I'm not sure I'd like to read Four Weekends and a Funeral just cause I'm not reading cancer related books at this time.

Thank you for joining!!! :’))) I hope we read some good ones that will make it worth your while!! 🤍🤍 and I think cancer genetic screening has gone really far in the last few years, your family could definitely reach out to their local cancer genetic counselor (depending if the state yall are located in need a general practitioner’s referral ?) to see what testing may be most appropriate ♥️ hugs to you, I completely understand why FWAF might not be the book for you right now 🫶🏼🫶🏼!

@@tiachu I suppose, unless one or two strong genetic markers pop up, it's probably still better to just go to the dermatologist for preventative screenings. (And PSA to go to medical dermatologists- people who look at and treat skin cancer and other medical conditions. A cosmetic dermatologist might not be as helpful.)
