If anyone knows Dennis Potter, a British tv show writer/showrunner from the late 70's-early 80's, he created "Pennies from Heaven" (which inspired the Steve Martin film) and "The Singing Detective" (which inspired the RDJ film). Both shows used classic pop standards in this way, and are 2 all-time great shows! If this is as fantastic as those shows, definite Oscar nominations!

The President of Venice Film festival screened it and said, It’s a dystopian musical, or a musical of sorts. I think it’s one of the most daring, brave and creative films in recent American cinema. And I think it really confirms Todd Phillips as one of the most creative directors working at the moment. It’s a continuation of the story but the film is completely different from the first film. If you’re expecting the same in terms of violence or other things, you’ll be surprised. We were astonished, our mouths were open at the end of the screening. It is a darker film. Venice Film Festival in late September.

I love that even though these are comic book characters, the movie doesn’t look or feel like a comic book movie, it looks like high art. Another reason to get excited is this is Joaquin Phoenix’s first reprisal of a role. He never does sequels. There must have been something really juicy here, for him to say yes.

I think I hate this trailer, it's the 2nd time watching it &it came off better this time but it's a complete 180 from the first teaser/trailer they put out. That teaser was perfection &with that ending the smile matching up w/ the makeup; I was so hyped it was the best trailer/teaser I've seen this year but this trailer has me worried about Harley &the studio itself. Last time Joker was an affordable R-rated comic book film but now it's a $200-million dollar blockbuster w/ Oscar-buzz. Did WB and all the suits hoover over the project &sit with Phillips in editing to ensure that it's a hit; this trailer just has me worried

We got a lot of stuff to watch this week. I just went through a week watching The Acolyte finale, The Boys S4 finale, Twisters twice, Fly Me to the Moon four times, five episodes of Cobra Kai S6, and HOT D S2E6. We got the Summer Olympics, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Comic-Con in San Diego all this week. Already read Mando & Grogu filmed a few scenes and principal photography starts in a few weeks. Cross fingers 🤞🏻for an Andor teaser to drop on SDCC this weekend. I will cut off my Regal Unlimited subscription probably in Oct but not before I see Joker 2 and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. I’m actually interested in watching the Reagan movie. Dennis Quaid got range to portray Clinton and now Reagan.

Man, I cannot wait to see this. It's definitely my most anticipated movie of the year. I'm glad to see a somewhat big scale R-rated drama movie that was clearly made by people who took their time with the visuals alone (the cinematography and color grading especially) compared to many, many movies these days that are bland visually. Even if the movie turns out crap for me (which I don't think it will), at least I know that it was shot with care.

The way the first film shone a light on mental health stigma and the disenfranchised, I think this one is gonna dive into misogyny. I think Joker’s gonna end up feeling used and betrayed and Harley’s gonna pay the price, and it’ll probably be disturbing

You know it’s weird, I actually feel more conflicted about this movie after seeing this trailer than when I saw the first one.
