Him holding up the division to fight a guy who has already retired, hasn't fought in years, and last time he did fight was a vicious knockout loss is an embarrassment. Even before tom won an interim title stipe getting a title shot was a joke, after it's a disgrace to the sport.

*READ THIS: The fact that the UFC let's Jones hold up the division like this, shows how archaic the promotion still is. You've heard Dana, he wants to be respected and held in as high regard as the NFL, however, the clown show that IS the HW division with that ridiculous interim belt blatantly indicates otherwise. There is definitely a time and place for an interim belt, but this ain't it. What they are doing clearly illustrates the immature ineptitude of Dana's decision making and the promotion as a whole. Yeah, the UFC is up there with the big 3 (NFL, MLB, NBA) strictly in terms of popularity, yet more akin to boxing or even WWE when it comes to the circumstances surrounding the belts in what now basically amounts to the circus (HW) division. It's like the NFL saying they're not gonna have a super bowl until the Dallas Cowgirls make it back, since, after all, they are America's team. 😅 It's truly that gross. If Jones hadn't got injured he coulda done it on his terms. But now people that just want to see him lose are desperate to push for the least favourable situation, and that situation has become the fight that makes the most sense. He doesn't wanna get fed to a young hungry dude at the start of their run, the way vets were fed to him, and on top of that when he's coming back from inactivity and injury. Can appreciate that, but now he is in a position where anything but fighting Tom will open the gates for people to try discredit the end of his legacy.

Dana constantly says the ufc is where the best fight the best. And that it isn’t boxing and nobody is protected or given warm ups etc. So why the hypocrisy. Jones can’t claim to be the “baddest man on the planet” if he isn’t willing to defend that claim against worthy competition. He isn’t being transparent but his words are see through.
