Hey Brooksy, female mud crabs head offshore to spawn. This is so the eggs can get dispersed in the ocean currents and spread out along the shore line as the babies get pushed back to land, expanding the area a crab can pass down its genetics and preventing inbreeding.

Mental video man. Those were some insane conditions absolute glass gotta make the most of it. The female mud crabs carry the eggs offshore to the reef when the water temp reaches high 20s. The female holds the eggs for upto 2weeks while migrating out to the reef. Once the eggs turn from orange to a black colour they release them as larvae in the ocean which are then moved by currents until they settle on the sea floor as juveniles at which point they move into the nearby estuaries.

Unbelievably beautiful nature you are staying in, and the water surface is absolutely incredible. I plan to buy a fishing reel, but haven't decided which brand. It will be a Shimano Stella Sw14000Xg or a Daiwa Saltiga 14000Xh. Which fishing reel of these would you recommend and why, thanks for your reply.
@HostMigration100 Жыл бұрын
They're both great reels, super smooth and have plenty of drag for almost all types of topwater fishing! I prefer the feel and sound of the drag adjustment on the Shimano's compared to the Daiwa's but that's personal preference! I think what it all comes down to for me is the maintenance and service. Where I live, servicing Daiwa's is a pain in the backside and it's more complicated if something does go wrong and it's a minor part replacement because you can't do it yourself and have to send it in because of the Magnetic Oil they use that you can't (or at least couldn't buy) at the time I was choosing my reels. So for that reason I tend to lean more towards Shimano. Both are superb reels though and are more than sufficient when it comes to fishing for topwater giants. Just do your research, speak to your local fishing outfitter about servicing etc and you should be good to go. Tight lines!

After mating, the female crab swims out to sea where the water is deeper, cooler and saltier and more suitable for crab larvae. Through tagging studies and netting it has been found females release their fertilised eggs after travelling about 30 kilometres out from the coast.
