Not too long ago Jordan Poole was doing stuff like this…But now…How could a guy we proclaimed the third splash brother…
Turn into the laughing stock of the league?
I decided I had to get to the bottom of this question. Because everyone on KZbin and in the NBA media seems to agree that it's not looking good for Jordan Poole..
So I did a little research of my own and here are my thoughts on…
Why Jordan Poole is FAILING with the Washington Wizards
00:00 - INTRO
01:04 - Discount Steph Curry
02:12 - Not a True PG
03:23 - Wizards Defensive
04:40 - NBA Culture
05:40 - How Jordan Can Succeed
7:20 - Wizards Planned This..

Think everyone is throwing around the "next steph curry" wayyyyyy too much. It's not just the skill level that makes Steph special, it's just as much what's between the ears. Clearly Jordan doesn't have that, don't think he could demonstrate just how little he has in common with Steph between the ears any more than he already does on a nightly basis. Jordan needs to learn that every single play doesn't need to be a sports center top 10 play, efficiency and consistency wins, not flash.

Main reason Poole is struggling is because the team play is different than what he is accustomed to. He went from a team that moved the ball, had set plays, hard screens to a team that doesn't pass as much. In the games where the Wizard's passed the ball they looked good. Poole needs to focus and not make flashy plays, but play smart.

@@otepdotnet TBH, I don't think Poole is like a main franchise/that "guy". He is a good piece on a championship team ala the championship won with the warriors. The problem is, when he is efficient and scores the most, the offense is moving and making play after play. Compare the warriors offense last year to the wizards offense this year. What do you notice? Lack of good screening. Like contact on the screens. Off the ball plays, where Poole is coming off of a pin down screen. Poole is a good scorer when he is able to shoot from 3 and get downhill. In a half court offense that is where he needs to put in work. Don't get me wrong, if people thought he was gonna be James Harden, well sorry to say, but as far as I can see I don't see it. However, if he focuses on defense and improves as a team defender, and gets a bit more efficient, then you're probably looking at a guy that would be a great contributor to a winning team. As of right now, he's not there yet.

the problem with this guy is he is only 120 or 0. He can't play efficient basketball, and he isn't even a great defender to make up for it. He gets a lot of turnovers and takes a lot of bad shots. The warriors saw it and were right to avoid it. He was never a third splash brother and we all knew he was never near Curry or Klay. When people weren't focused on him and didn't expect it + he wasn't the 30mil contract guy yet, he could hit the shots, but now that defenses focus on him and he takes even more of those risky shots which just aren't sustainable, there's not much to say. Again, it's 120 or 0, it's occasionally a great highlight but usually a waste of a possession. I'm a Warriors fan and I don't have Poole, he literally helped us win a championship, but he is in no world the next Steph Curry, he's not an amazing playmaker by any means especially with the number of turnovers, but hopefully he can improve in the future, right now though, he needs to play more normally. He's not in an edit or highlight reel. His teammate however, Kyle Kuzma is playing out of his mind and it's really nice to see.

Ehhh, I still blame Draymond a bit for killing his confidence. Jordan Poole worked within the Warrior's system, and every team has different systems, so your role matters. He probably would have been fine on a high shooting team, and with less pressure being on him as a main scorer or ball handler. However, there was no way he was going to be the main guy when his inconsistencies and iq were a problem, even on the Warriors.

if you watch the games you will notice that when jp is playing off-ball, he does not touch the ball in many possessions where teammates basically pass to kuz for an iso, and quite frankly almost every time. And lots of times jp touches the ball in this kind of situation, it's almost at the end of the 24-second shot clock so he would either drive with 3 men guarding or take a tough 3-pointer. This is the main reason that drops his efficiency. On the other hand, when jp plays point guard and has the ball with him, he is way more confident and comfortable with running his plays, both scoring himself and ditching it out. So I would say surely, let him play with the ball more.

I don't really agree with some of your takes. Now mind you, I'm a not a Jordan Poole fan by any means, but having watched a few of the Wizards games a few things became pretty clear to me: 1- Unseld is subpar coach who shouldn't be coaching at this level. There's lack of ball movement and overall planning and that's a coach problem. I'm fairly confident in thinking that this is intentional from the Wizards front office as Unseld will ultimately be used as the scapegoat for this terrible season that they intended to tank from the start. 2- The Wizards run their offense through Kuzma, instead of through Poole, which turns into a festival of iso ball that's atrocious to watch. Now, I like Kuzma, but he should never be their number 1 option. In a good team Kuzma would be the number 3 option and in mid to below avarage team is at best the second option. 3- While Poole's usage seems to not be that bad as you mentioned, seeing the games tells me otherwise. The only times his usage spikes during a game is when Tyus is not on the floor at the same time and most of the times that Kuzma is also sitting out. Curiously, those are the times that Poole is actually playing the PG and being more effective. Now that's not always been the case this season, but most of his sparce good stretches happened under these conditions. 4- Poole is a player who needs to get some regular touches to start rolling, but I've seen several times him going through stretches of 3 or 4 minutes where he almost never touches the ball, even when is asking for it, which prevents him from getting hot. 5- The roster is so poorly constructed, that their only rim protector is Gafford, who let's be honest, in an avarage team he would be the backup center. The defense is already lackluster, but everytime he's off the floor or misses a game it's just atrocious to watch. I can't blame Poole or any other guy in that roster for being extremely demoralized by this sad reality. Now, none of this excuses him for the lack of commitment and effort that's being displayed so far. He's a professional and as such he needs to be held accountable for everything we've been seeing so far, but the coaching staff and the front office need to be held to that same standard as well, since the Wizards are the worst team to watch right now. Yes, they can be me even more of a shitshow then the Detroit Pistons, especially when Monty Williams insists on playing Stewart at the 4, which in all honesty is a horrendus thing to see.

I disagree with a lot of the takes you have in this video, but the biggest has to be the trae floater one. Trae is one of guard starter worst finishers , floater is THE ONLY move he has at the rim. He doesn't not kill oposition that way. He is an elite passer above that , and defender really respect is lob threat. Poole has you said can't make a pass to save himself so that floater window doesn't come as easy as to trae. Poole has nice body control, long arms and more nba suitable body to finish through contact so he should look more to finishers like donovan mitchell or jamal crawford to craft himself the better way. I would also say that is refreshing seeing somenone rooting for Poole.

I believe in Jordan Poole. I also believe that they're being DS on purpose for those sweet, sweet draft picks and pre season trades. Next year/season, watch, Poole will shape up. If this doesn't happen, I'm gonna need a comment spam and dislike bomb that I was wrong.

JP needs to grow up. Period. His talent is being flushed down the toilet by his ego and attitude. It's a shame.

@@thedrinkinggamemaker9749 Yes. I can. He ran is mouth A LOT and got punched for it? Accountability maybe? Ever talk so much shit you got hit for it? I have lol. It was a life lesson. What does getting punched by Draymond have to do with being a child in Washington anyway?

Jordan should sue the league and Draymond green because I believe he has brain damage from that sucker punch. I think golden state knew and hurried the trade. Sad.
