As someone who's been binge watching his videos for the past hour, one thing I have to say is that he can never beat the time constraints. I don't want a whole lot of dishes or a lot of effort into my meal, and for the quick amount of time you can make the frozen versions, the taste isn't all that bad. We should challenge him to make a depression meal. Depression meal requirements: - limited usage of dishes. Not a large cleanup. - Can make within 15 minutes. - cheap.

Still "fondly" remember the last hot pocket I ever ate. Used to make them for lunch when working graveyard shift. One day I decided to put the lonesome break room toaster oven to use. Stopped in and started pre-heating the the sparsely used appliance. Circled back around and placed my frozen ham and cheese into It's toasty temporary residence and went back to work. Thirty minutes later it was time for my break and my crisply toasted hot pocket. I removed the delicacy and placed it on the break table to cool while I found something to read. All set and ready to go I raised the pocket o hotness and took a bite from the corner. As my teeth started to press upon the pastry the opposite side exploded spewing molten cheddar up my nostril...never again have I had the displeasure of the hot pocket. I was really hoping to see a microwaved version in the end. The point of hot pockets is cheap and EFFORTLESS. Like a meal prep version would be better 🤔
@nalanihamby37103 жыл бұрын
You could do that simply by making a large batch at once and freezing them before you make them, store them in an airtight bag and then bake them from frozen.
@sarahbuck25063 жыл бұрын
Same. It's not a fair comparison if the final product isn't as convenient as a hot pocket. It needs to be freezable and microwaveable from frozen to be a fair contender.

I'm not even surprised puff pastry won. In France we make "Friands au fromage" (a cheese pasty I guess?) which is basically cheese inside of puff pastry with an egg wash. It's simple, it's amazing. Adding pizza to that sounds like a wonderful idea!

As amusing as watching the 'but better' version of this and other foods, I have to agree with others in the comments that, while I am sure the final product is better, it's also way more time consuming and expensive. Personally, I think the best use of these videos is to see how certain components of the dish are made and implementing them in your own recipes. For example, I will use the In-N-Out spread shown in the In-N-Out :but better', but I definitely can't be asses to make buns or whatever other fancy shit he includes in recipes of foods that are supposed to take like 10 minutes to make.

To put decent texture on this frozen factory food: Heat toaster on high, start on the Hot Pocket, then nuke it on high for 45secs then pop it into the toaster for 3mins. And then at every bite put Sriracha into it. Also you have to be bone tired or drunk. Or be a tired child coming home from soccer practice and Mom isn't home yet and this was before kids had food delivery apps on their phones with Mom's credit card saved in there. That's the way to enjoy these things.
