I wish Steve Perry would come out with his own book/ autobiography. Tell everyone his story, and about his own life and his life with Journey. The world needs to know the voice behind the music. But us fans know he is a great artist / songwriter / person. Steve had his reasons for his decisions in life. Please tell us your story Steve Perry :)

There was a point in Steve Perry's life during his career with Journey that his and his life was being threatened. Jonathan Cain says this in his new book. It's so sad because the band just betrayed Steve. They were sappose to be his brothers. Steve Perry made Journey big • Steve Perry has never talked trash about any of his band mates. Look at the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. Just shows you who has more class. Steve Perry!

Steve Perry did not make Journey big you are 100% wrong about that! If anything John Cain made them big they didn’t get big till John was in the band without him there would be no don’t stop believing or any of them huge songs. If Rollie never left the band and John never joined we wouldn’t be here commenting about Journey. Neal, John and Steve made Journey big without any of these 3 Journey never would have got so big it was perfect timing everything fell into place for them 3 to be in a band together. People like to think Steve was responsible for everything because of his amazing voice and I get it most people have never been in a band or the music business so they don’t understand but it’s just not true and not only was it them 3 behind journeys success but every employee of the band and the record label’s abilities. Saying Steve made them famous is like saying some General won a war and not everyone doing the work.

@@peanutbutterisfu Steve was the catalyst that made them great, they were already touring too much for Rolie, going to Japan and such. He left because he wanted a real life. He hand picked Cain as his replacement before he left. The rest was history.

I am a big Journey fan but OA would not be in my top 50 Journey songs. I could name six or perhaps more from Escape I like better. 1. Still They Ride 2. Stone in Love 3. Escape 4. Mother Father 5. Keel on Running 6. That song that has been way over played. 7. Perhaps Open Arms. I know it's all personal taste. But damn Still They Ride and Mother Father are so awesome. Check out Still They Ride from Tokyo 1983 or Mother Father from Houston 1981. I am talking perfection.

There ya have it! @ 8:50 “To Neal Schon, Perry’s album sounded to much like Journey”. Steve brought and IS Journey!! Neal, left Santana only to sound like “Santana, part duex” in his early years. Neal had/has no sound of his own, enter all the ‘sound-a-likes’ after Perry. Neal can be-grudge all the ‘royalties’ (as per article I read), Perry made off the band after leaving all he wants, Perry earned every last cent!

I don't like the Ideal of Schon bringing in Arnel Pineda. And it was against Steve Perry. And Arnel was was to attack Steve Perry. And Arnel dose not belong in Journey. And I have heard this through Friends of mine hear in Minnesota. And are so Angry at Neale Schon. My friend kicked hear kid out because he liked Arnel Pineda. Honest. My friend made her son move to a dorm to go to Collage. And called Pineda a copy cat. Amateur. Another friend will not go see Journey in August during the Minnesota State Fair. As much as I sound like Perry singing. My friends like me over Arnel Pineda. And I am going to leave it at singing karaoke. Live with cover bands. I would never go to Journey if Smith. Cain. Schon came to ask me to replace Pineda. I tell Smith. Cain. Schon to scram. Perry should have his old job back. I know what would happen if I was Journeys new lead singer. I be hated. And disrespectted. Plus. I have diabetes. Autism. Just mild. And enjoy singing karaoke and live. I can't believe what The band done against Perry. Pineda is Junk. And from my friends who went to Journey concerts rather hear me sing cover songs from Journey because I don't carry an ego like Schon. I just have fun. And don't carry an ego. This band really done a number to Steve. Including Neal. And I don't blame any of you how you feel about the whole Journey story. I do respect everyone's anger. Disappointed. And my friends in Minneapolis. Minnesota. Are with all of you. Like I said. I have no ego trip singing Journey songs doing Karaoke or singing them live. I am out there to have fun. Having mold case of Autism. Diabetes. And knowing that I am going to die domedsy. Singing karaoke and live is keeping me going. And I have no ego trip. And if any of you sound like so and so singing. And happy doing it. Keep doing it if your happy and have fun. And I am with everyone how you feel about Neal the heal schon. Yes he is an asshole. Best wishes to all of you. And if you sing in a live band. I hope for any of you to be successful and go big time. I love music. I like to go hear a lot of live bands and get invited to sing. Best wishes to every one of you.

At 5:36, Joe Selvin says that "Journey invented the power ballad". Sorry Mr. Selvin, but Journey did NOT invent the power ballad. It was Richard Carpenter of the Carpenters that did that, with the song "Goodbye to Love", which was finished in June of 1972. He and Karen had Tony Peluso play the guitar for that and in the middle of the song, they let him go for it. Peluso stayed with the band after that and he says that although he takes a small part in playing the electric guitar for that song, he gives all the credit for the idea back to Richard Carpenter. Capenter wrote the song, "Goodbye to Love" and he is the one who went for it when he allowed for the rock guitar solo in the middle of the song. They lost alot of fans for it, the fans told the Carpenters that they sold out when they added a rock guitar solo in that song
@gdub454
@gdub454 7 жыл бұрын
Dick Carpenter invented the power ballad..lollol..bawahahaha..you have no idea WTF you are even talkin bout..a power ballad by definition means that whoever does it HAS TO HAVE some rock influence hence the word "power"..Carpenters did not exude any power even though Karen Carpenter was one of the best female singers of all time..if anything the Carpenters invented the "timeless ballad" makes more sense..
@iamthevapingqueen9960
@iamthevapingqueen9960 7 жыл бұрын
Did you even listen to the song? Peluso does a great electric guitar solo in the middle of 'Goodbye to Love'. Tony Peluso talks about when he was asked to play on the song in studio and he tried to make it mellow because he knew how their songs had been done before. Richard Carpenter told him to really go for it, and he did. Peulso says it was the first power ballad in a song like that, and that it was all Richard Carpenter's idea to do it. I am just repeating what Tony Peluso said, and I have not seen anyone (except for you, of coiurse) say anything to the contrary. So, if you have not heard that song played, there are quite a few vids here on KZbin that you can use to watch and listen to Tony Peluso playing 'Goodbye to Love'.
@gdub454

I'm sorry..who is Tony Peluso?..never heard of him..like I said before the power ballad refers to a song that is slow..has a definite ROCK influence and the girls usually like it more than the guys..why are you struggling and giving me a bunch of static nonsense about some dude named Tony Peluso and what he says makes it so..and nice try saying (except for you..of course)..I call bullshit on that...sorry dude..but Journey totally invented the power ballad in my book...go listen to "Who's Cryin Now"..thats a great power ballad...One love feeds the fire...One heart dares desire..One love..who's cryin now...Two hearts born to..then it ends with Neals cool guitar licks
